POWERING UP THE SCOREBOARD
TURN ON SCOREBOARD
Turn ON the scoreboard’s main disconnect switch — this is usually mounted near
the scoreboard or on one of the support columns.
- Wired System — if the scoreboard does not detect a signal from the control, then a roving segment will move around the digits of the scoreboard.
- Wireless System — if the scoreboard is equipped with a Fair-Play Wireless Gen 2 system and it does not detect a control signal within five (5) seconds after powering up, then it will display its receiver’s operating channel for 30 minutes.
- If after 30 minutes and the scoreboard still is not receiving any signal, the channel number will disappear and a roving segment will move around the digits of the scoreboard.
TURN ON CONTROL
Fair-Play provides various types of controls that are compatible with your
scoreboard. When the scoreboard is properly receiving data from the control,
the scoring data (time, score, fouls, etc.) appears on the scoreboard. Please
refer to your control user guide for additional information.
TURN OFF POWER
Turn OFF power to the scoreboard and control when the games are over or when
the scoreboard is not in use.
- Turn OFF the scoreboard’s main disconnect switch
- To prevent possible damage to the control from lightning strikes or power surges:
- Turn OFF control power.
- Unplug the control’s power cable from the wall outlet.
- Unplug the control’s data cable from the hookup box.
- Store the control in a safe and dry location to prevent possible theft or damage.
- Refer to Scoreboard Care for additional information.
SCOREBOARD CARE
Your Fair-Play scoreboard, when installed as directed by the installation instructions, is designed and constructed to withstand normal environmental conditions. Because of its seasonal usage, particularly for outdoor football and baseball scoreboards, long life with minimum service can be expected by caring for the scoreboard during the off-season.
CAUTION:
- Disconnect power before servicing.
- Follow safety precautions.
OFF SEASON
- Turn power OFF.
- Portable scoreboards can be disconnected and removed from their supports and stored in an indoor location.
- The control must be unplugged, placed in its carrying case, and stored in a dry location of moderate temperatures.
PRE-SEASON
- As a precautionary measure, the scoreboard should be inspected, reassembled, and tested 6 to 8 weeks in advance of the game season.
- To ensure that the LEDs are operating at optimum brightness, remove any accumulated dirt and debris from the scoreboard by washing the exterior of the scoreboard with a highly diluted dish soap solution and a soft-bristled brush. Rinse gently with tap water using a garden hose spray nozzle.
CAUTION
- Do not use a high-pressure sprayer.
