BASIC OPERATIONS

Attaching the Eyepiece

Before attaching the eyepiece, remove the lens cover on the bottom of the eyepiece. We recommend that you keep the exterior lens covers handy to prevent foreign material from entering the lens.

  1. To attach the eyepiece, line up the indicator mark near the base of the eyepiece with the orange dot on the spotting scope body. Insert the eyepiece into the body and rotate the eyepiece clockwise ¼ turn until the eyepiece clicks into place and is lined up with the indicator line.
  2. To remove the eyepiece, press and hold the eyepiece lock down and rotate the eyepiece ¼ turn counter clockwise.

Mounting the Spotting Scope

There are many variables that come into play when looking down range. Some of these factors include mirage, wind, humidity among others. For best results when spotting, we recommend using a tripod for steady viewing. Secure the tripod mount foot on a quick release plate on the tripod head.
The tripod mount foot has 1/4-20 threads and is compatible with any 1/4-20 thread screw mounting plate.

ADJUSTING MAGNIFICATION

The Phenom UHD 20-60X85 spotting scope has a 20-60X magnification range. At lower magnification settings, the wider field of view is suitable for target identification. Higher magnifications are ideal when you need to zoom in on the target to see detail.
Increase the magnification by turning the adjustment ring in a clockwise direction.
Decrease the magnification by turning the adjustment ring in a counterclockwise direction.

ADJUSTING FOCUS

After setting the magnification, you will need to refocus the spotting scope. This is due to changing the focal distance of the spotting scope.
To adjust the focus, slowly rotate the center focus ring until the image becomes sharply defined.

ADJUSTING THE EYECUP

The adjustable eyecup on the Phenom UHD spotting scope twists up and down so that you can see the full field of view regardless if you wear glasses or not.
Fully extend the eyecup for the best viewing without glasses. Adjust the eyecup position by twisting on the eyecup.

ADJUSTING THE VIEWING ANGLE

The Phenom UHD Tripod Mount Collar allows you to rotate the spotting scope body for greater viewing flexibility. To rotate the body, first loosen the thumbscrew on the mounting collar. There are detents located every 45 degrees.
Lock the scope body in your preferred viewing position by rotating the mounting collar thumbscrew clockwise.

USING THE EXTENDABLE SUNSHADE

Extendable Sunshade

Extend this fitted hood to effectively block out disturbing stray light. The sunshade also shields the objective lens from mechanical damage and guards against soiling by fingerprints and precipitation.

MAINTAINING YOUR SCOPE

This sight, though amazingly tough, is a precision instrument that deserves reasonable and cautious care. For normal maintenance:

A. Do not attempt to disassemble or clean the sight internally.
B. The external optical lenses should occasionally be wiped with the microfiber lens cloth provided or optical quality lens paper.
C. Remove any external dirt or sand with a soft brush so as to avoid scratching the finish.
D. Wipe the sight with a damp cloth, followed by a dry cloth.
E. Then go over the metal portions of the sight with a silicon treated cloth in order to protect the sight against corrosion.
F. Store the sight in a moisture-free environment.
G. Avoid storing the sight in a hot place, such as the passenger compartments of a vehicle on hot days. The high temperatures could adversely affect the lubricants and sealants.
H. Never leave the sight where direct sunlight can enter either the objective or the eyepiece lens. Damage may result from the concentration of the sun’s rays (burning glass effect).

WARNING: UNNECESSARY RUBBING OR USE OF A COARSE CLOTH MAY CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO LENS COATINGS.
