INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
BEFORE INSTALLING THE HOOD
- For the most efficient airflow exhaust use a straight run or as few elbows as possible.
- Vent unit to the outside only.
- At least two people are required for installation.
- Remove the range hood from the carton packaging and place on a flat surface for assembly.
ELECTRIC REQUIREMENTS
CAUTION: THIS APPLIANCE SHOULD BE PROPERLY GROUNDED.
- This hood must be power supplied 120 V, 60 Hz and connected to an individual, properly grounded circuit (3-prong outlet).
- If the electrical supply does not meet above requirements, call a licensed electrician before proceeding.
- Route house wiring as close as possible to the installation location, in the ceiling.
- The hood must be connected to the house wiring in accordance with the local codes and norms.
WALL FRAMING FOR ADEQUATE SUPPORT
THIS VENT HOOD IS HEAVY. ADEQUATE STRUCTURE AND SUPPORT MUST BE PROVIDED IN
ALL TYPES OF INSTALLATIONS. IF MOUNTING ON DRY WALL, THE HOOD MUST BE SECURED
TO A HORIZONTAL SUPPORT.
PREPARING THE INSTALLATION
- For evacuation toward the exterior only.
- For domestic use only. Do not use to evacuate dangerous or explosives fumes or materials.
A minimum of 30’’ above a cooking surface is required
- Determine and mark the exact location of the vent hood. Find the centerline of the cooktop. Use a level to draw a vertical straight pencil line on the wall.
- Plan the route for venting exhaust to the outdoors. Use the shortest and straightest duct route possible. Long duct runs, elbows and transitions will reduce the performance of the hood. Use as few as possible. Larger ducting may be required for longer duct runs.
- Install a wall cap with damper or roof cap at the exterior opening/wall. Add the wall or roof cap to the ductwork.
- Connect round metal ductwork to cap and work back towards the hood location and seal joints with 2″ metal foil.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
INSTALLATION DRAWING
- The minimum hood distance above a cooktop surface must be no less than 28’’ and no higher than 30″.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
WARNING
THIS RANGE HOOD MUST BE PROPERLY GROUNDED. TURN OFF ELECTRICAL POWER AT
SERVICE ENTRANCE BEFORE WIRING.
CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRIC CHORD IS NOT IN CONTACT WITH THEE SHARP
EDGES OF THE APPLIANCE.
IMPROPER GROUNDING CAN RESULT IN A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. CONSULT A QUALIFIED
ELECTRICIAN IF THE GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD OR IF
THERE IS DOUBT AS TO WHETHER THE APPLIANCE IS PROPERLY GROUNDED. DO NOT USE AN
EXTENSION CORD. IF THE POWER SUPPLY CORD IS TOO SHORT, HAVE A QUALIFIED
ELECTRICIAN INSTALL AN OUTLET NEAR THE APPLIANCE.
- This appliance must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug.
- Set the electrical power supply within the space covered by the decorative chimney.
- Position the outlet offset so that the power cord will not interfere with the round duct.
- Make sure this does not interfere with a mounting bracket fastening area or with the decorative chimney (where the chimney touches the wall).
INSTALLING THE UNIT
WARNING: WHEN CUTTING OR DRILLING INTO CEILING, DO NOT DAMAGE ELECTRICAL
WIRING AND OTHER HIDDEN UTILITIES. WHEN BUILDING FRAMEWORK, ALWAYS FOLLOW ALL
APPLICABLE CONSTRUCTION CODES AND STANDARDS.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that holes locations are leveled and correctly
centered (this installation instruction applies also to concrete).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (continued)
INSTALLING THE UNIT (continued)
Secure the hood to the recommended height of 30″ above the cooking surface.
-
As illustrated in Figure 1A, drill four holes with diameter not exceeding 5/8” and depth of 3” to 3-1/2” on the false ceiling. Fasten two hexagonal wood screws at two of these holes opposite from each other, reserve approximately 1/8” for the top support plate as shown in Figure 1B. Cut out a circle of 7-1/2” diameter for duct work. Use appropriate anchors for your ceiling composition:
• Wood ceiling: Use the provided hexagonal wood screw. (A)
• Sheet rock ceiling: Attach top supporting plate to ceiling joists or stud blockings if possible. If ceiling joists or stud blockings are not available, it is required to build a supporting structure behind the sheet rock for best weight support.
• Concrete ceiling: Use concrete sleeve anchor. -
Place support frames inside the top support plate, adjust support frames to length required and lock the support frames using sixteen (16) 5mm x 12mm Phillips Head Tapping Screw (B&C) as shown in Figure 2.
-
Align the holes in top support plate with two screws (D) on the ceiling. Push upward (1) and slide forward (2) so the top supporting plate locks into place, see Figure 3. Fasten two existing hexagonal wood screws, insert two more on the last two holes and fasten them.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE the support frame fixture is secure before releasing!
Install the support frame extensions onto the range hood body:
Fasten the adjusted support frame extensions onto the lower support frame
using “B” screws and “C” washers as shown in Figure 3. Each end of support
frame extension should be installed with at least (2) two “B” and “C”
fasteners. Repeat this step for all the support frame extensions.
- If your specific model does not have a lower support frame, then the support frame extensions will fasten directly onto the range hood body, using the same “B” and “C”fasteners.
IMPORTANT: Always use at least 1 bolt and washer set on each side of
thesupport frame extensions, (2-sides on each) on both ends (2-ends on each).
Install the duct tube ( not included)
Install and affix the duct tube onto the household ducting (or Air Diverter
assembly) at the top of the chimney; extend the ducting down and ensure there
is approximately 6” of ducting to install onto the vent ducting. Only use
approved ducting tapeor fastening devices.
Partially install the chimney covers onto the range hood:
Position the chimney covers over the support frame extensions, resting onto
the range hood. Ensure they are the correct orientation as if they fully
installed.
Install the support frame extensions and range hood assembly onto the upper
support frame:
Have multiple people lift, hold and position the range hood assembly (with
chimney covers) to install the open end of support frame extensions onto the
upper support frame (already installed into your ceiling). Fasten each
extension with “B” screws and “C” washers as shown in Figure 3.
IMPORTANT: Always use at least 1 bolt on each side of the support frame
extensions, on both ends.
Connect the power plug:
Ensure there is no power present at the power outlet, plug in the unit. Only
use approved ducting tape or fastening devices.
Affix the upper chimney cover onto the upper support frame:
Using the “B” screws and “D” washers, separate, lift and position the upper
chimney cover over the upper support frame, aligning the mounting holes, and
then affixing the upper chimney into place.
