Find your keys, wallet, and more with AirTag

AirTag helps you keep track of and find the items that matter most. If you misplace an item, use the Find My app to play a sound on your AirTag, find it on a map, or get directions to it. If it’s nearby, Precision Finding can guide you to it on supported iPhone models.

Use Precision Finding to pinpoint the location of your item

If you have a supported iPhone model with Ultra Wideband and your AirTag is nearby1, you can use Precision Finding to help find it, even if it’s stuck between couch cushions or hiding under a stack of mail. If your AirTag is out of range of your connected device, get directions to it first.

1. Open the Find My app, then tap the Items tab.
2. Choose the AirTag you want to locate, then tap Find . 1
3. Follow the onscreen instructions and move around the space until your iPhone connects to your AirTag.
4. Your iPhone displays the distance and direction to your AirTag. Use that information to get closer to your AirTag until you find your lost item.
5. Tap the X button   when you’re done.

If you need more help

You can tap the sound button   to play a sound on your AirTag if it’s within Bluetooth range of your connected device. If it’s too dark, a flashlight button   will appear. To turn on the flashlight, tap it.

If you don’t see Find  , make sure that you turned on Location Access for the Find My app.

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, and check that Location Services is on.
2. Scroll down and tap Find My.
3. Check “Ask Next Time,” “While Using the App,” or “While Using the App or Widgets.” For the most accurate location, turn on Precise Location.

Environmental factors, including wall materials or objects between your iPhone and your AirTag, might impact performance.

More ways to find your items

If you misplace an item with an AirTag attached, use the Find My app to see or get directions to its current or last known location. If it’s nearby, you can also play a sound from your AirTag’s built-in speaker. AirTag uses the Find My network, an encrypted, anonymous network of hundreds of millions Apple devices that can help you find your things.

See your AirTag on the map

1. Open the Find My app, then tap the Items tab.
2. Choose the AirTag you want to locate in the Items list.
   • If the AirTag is within range of your device or the Find My network recently detected it, you see it on the map. An updated location and timestamp appears under its name.
   • If the AirTag isn’t within range of your device or any devices in the Find My network, you see its last known location and timestamp. To be notified when your AirTag is within range of your device or detected by the Find My network, turn on Notify When Found under Notifications.

If you can’t see your AirTag on the map, learn what to do.

Play a sound

1. Open the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then tap the Items tab.
2. Choose the AirTag you want to play a sound in the Items list.
3. Tap Play Sound .1 If your AirTag is within Bluetooth range, it will play a sound.
4. To stop playing this sound before it ends automatically, tap Stop Sound.

If your AirTag is within Bluetooth range of your connected device but not playing a sound, learn what to do.

Get directions

If your iPhone or region doesn’t support Ultra Wideband, or your AirTag is outside of the range of your device, you can get directions to its location.

1. Open the Find My app, then tap the Items tab.
2. Choose the AirTag you want directions to.
3. Tap Directions to see the route to your AirTag in Maps.
4. Tap Go to get directions from your current location to your AirTag.

If you don’t see your AirTag in Find My

1. Remove and then reinsert the battery of your AirTag.2
2. If your AirTag doesn’t play a sound after you reinsert the battery, replace the battery with a new CR2032 battery.

1 Your AirTag must be within Bluetooth range to use Precision Finding or play a sound using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If it’s out of range, get directions to it first. Precision Finding uses Ultra Wideband, which is not available in all countries or regions. Learn more about Ultra Wideband availability.

2 Warning: AirTag, the battery cover, and the battery might present a choking hazard or cause other injury to small children. Keep these items away from small children.

The Find My network isn’t supported in South Korea and might be unavailable in other regions due to local laws.
