Device description

Functional description / control panelAktobis-AG WDH-MG1-Humidifier-
po

  • On/Off button: As soon as the blue operating light lights up in the display, you can switch on the unit with the On/Off button. After switching on, the individual setting symbols light up.

  • Steam strength/operating strength: With this button, you can set your individual humidification strength. The following options are available:

    • One green bar: > Very weak humidification performance
    • Two green bars: > Weak humidification performance
    • Three green bars: > Average humidification output
    • Four green bars: > High humidification performance
    • Five green bars: > Maximum humidification output
  • Target humidification key: Use this key to set your individual humidification target. The following options are available:

    • L > Lowest target humidity value (below 25%) > Not recommended
    • 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% / 50% / 55% / 60% / 65% / 70% / 75% / 80% / 85%
    • H > Highest target humidity value (over 85%) > not recommended
  • The unit humidifies until the set humidity is reached and then switches off automatically. If the humidity falls below the set target value again, the unit switches on again automatically.
Note: The humidifier’s humidity sensor sits under the unit (so as to be as far away as possible from the unit’s steam outlet). Nevertheless, the humidity sensor always gives only a tendency of the room humidity. This is because, depending on the background, the displayed value may be lower or higher than the actual room humidity. However, by varying the target humidity value, this circumstance can be compensated for!

  • Steam nozzle rotation button: With this button, you can determine the steam nozzle’s swivel radius. The following options are available:

  • Timer function: With this button, you have the option of setting a remaining running (timer) for the appliance until it switches off automatically. You can choose between 1 hour of running time. Interval setting: Optionally choose between:

  •   An interval with the alternating 5-minute operation and then the following 5-minute break (green display)

  •  An interval with the alternating 5-minute operation and then the following 10-minute break (orange display)

  • An interval with the alternating 5-minute operation and then the following 15-minute break (red display).

Remote control
All functions and settings as described in the above symbols can also be operated/adjusted with the supplied remote control. A button cell CR2025 (3V) is required to operate the remote control.

Before use
Carefully remove the humidifier from its packaging box and remove all protective packaging. Place the humidifier on a firm flat surface that provides sufficient space for the unit and the user. Give the humidifier about half an hour (to adjust to the room climate) before operating it for the first time.

Commissioning

  • Open the lid of your humidifier. Take out the white water tank, fill it with water and then put it back into the appliance.
  • Insert the mains plug of the unit into a socket and switch on the unit at the main switch on the side (see fig. right). The unit is now in standby mode.
  • Now press the On/Off button to start the humidification mode. Now the individual setting symbols including the display of the current room humidity light up and the unit starts humidifying at the highest humidification level by default.

Cleaning

  •  Please switch off the appliance first and disconnect the main plug before cleaning the humidifier.

  •  Open the upper lid of the humidifier and first remove the white water tank and the black steam nozzle shaft incl. the steam nozzle.

  •  Now unscrew the residual water drain (see illustration on the right), which is located on the lower rear side, and empty the appliance completely of any residual water.
Note: It is best to place the appliance in a sink to empty it, as up to one litre of residual water can still run off !

  •  Only use mild cleaning agents to clean your humidifier.

  •  Rinse the white water tank carefully and wipe it from the outside with a damp cloth.

  •  Next, clean the black steam nozzle shaft incl. the steam nozzle.

  •  Now carefully clean the white water cup incl. the ultrasonic water vapor unit in the lower part of your machine. Notes: In the case of hard water (the tap water contains too much calcium and magnesium), limescale deposits can occur in the humidifier and especially in the water cup.

  • These limescale deposits in the unit and especially in the area of the evaporator and the water vapor unit can lead to impaired functioning. We, therefore, recommend that you

  •  Clean the evaporator and the ultrasonic water vapor unit every week.

  •  Change the water in the water tank regularly to keep it fresh.

  • The ultrasonic water vapor unit itself is made of silver metal and has three approx. 2 cm large evaporators (eyes) on the top.

Add 5-10 drops of a suitable cleaning agent (e.g. Dimanin A available in any pharmacy) to the surface of the vaporizers or also to the remaining area of the water cup and wait a few minutes.

  •  Then carefully wipe off any flakes of dirt (limescale) from the surfaces with a soft sponge or the enclosed brush (see illustration on the right).
Note: Never clean the evaporators with objects made of metal or blunt material! This would damage the evaporators.

  •  With the exception of the electrical control panel, all parts of the humidifier can be wiped or cleaned with a soft damp cloth when the unit is switched off.

  •  Remove any water, clean the unit thoroughly and dry it well if you are not going to use the humidifier for a long time.

Troubleshooting

Humidifiers for a better climate and for the benefit of health
Especially during the heating season, the relative humidity often falls below the recommended range for living and working spaces. This has an unfavorable effect on the well-being and health of people and animals and can also promote diseases of the respiratory system if the indoor air is permanently very dry. A too-dry climate can also be harmful for inventory and plants. This effect can be counteracted with our humidifier.

In the field of human medicine, a balanced humidity of the ambient air is recommended. However, especially in closed, poorly ventilated and well-heated rooms, such values are often fallen short of, which can lead to reduced respiratory performance and impairment of the skin or mucous membranes. This is especially the case in winter, as the cold outside air then has only a low absolute humidity. Therefore, it should be re-humidified by a humidifier after it has been warmed up to room temperature in order to prevent the relative humidity from dropping too much.

In very cold regions or at cold times of the year or at night, the human organism often shows an increased fluid consumption, although the opposite should rather be assumed due to the lack of fluid loss through sweating. This is due to the humidification of the dry inhaled air and the associated loss of water. If the cold outside air is heated during inhalation, its water vapour capacity increases and thus also lowers the relative humidity. In contrast, the saturation deficit increases and the tendency of the liquid lung tissue water to change into the gaseous aggregate state increases. In summer or when the ambient air is warm, the inhaled air is hardly warmed up any further and therefore retains its usually high relative humidity. If the additional water losses through sweating are not too great here, the body’s water requirement is therefore higher in cold ambient conditions.

Increased humidity is beneficial for breathing, as oxygen then reaches the bloodstream more easily via the alveoli. The skin needs a high level of humidity in order not to dry out, as this is closely linked to skin moisture. Mucous membranes are particularly susceptible to drying out, as they have little protection against evaporation and depend on their high humidity to maintain their functions. Thus, low humidity of the nasal mucosa can result in an increased incidence of nosebleeds. In general, the skin’s immune defense is weakened (increased risk of catching a cold) and its ability to exchange substances is reduced, which particularly affects the oral mucosa. Low humidity also increases the susceptibility to skin irritations or redness or even skin inflammations. Source: www.wikipedia.de
