My camera hasn’t worked in a long time. I don’t know how to activate it.

Anywhere the monitor can communicate with it. It does not matter where you put it whether on the back, to the side or on the front. However it was meant to show you what is behind you when you are backing up.
Does it only work when backing up or all the time? and can it record?****
It does not record and the maximum setting from on to automatically turned off is 90 seconds so, no it cannot be on all the time. I believe the automatic turn off is necessary so as not to drain the solar power on the camera.
Can I get a replacement mount? Mine got broken.****
