Usage Guide for Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844

Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844, when added to Clifton adhesives, can variously increase bond strength, shorten cure time and increase heat and chemical resistance. It reacts differently with the different adhesives and requires different mixing ratios.
Please pay close attention to the correct mixing chart for each adhesive:

**Mixing Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844 with Clifton Hypalon Adhesive FA

4844**

The addition of Clifton Accelerator to Clifton Hypalon Adhesive gives maximum strength in repair work, increases heat and chemical resistance, speeds up the tack between coats, and shortens full bonding time. We recommend its use for air-holding repairs in boat chambers and floors and items that will be subjected to a lot of stress, such as D-ring patches, handles, and foot cups. This is the same combination used in building NRS Pennel Orca inflatables.

8| 1.5| 40
16 (pint)| 3| 75
32 (quart)| 6| 150
128 (gallon)| 24| 600

Note: Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844 can also be added to Clifton Urethane Adhesive LA 4123, Item # 38700.01, at the above mixing ratios. It will not increase the bond strength but will increase heat and chemical resistance of the bond. If the material bonded will be subjected to temperatures greater than 140º F, use of the Accelerator is recommended.
The Accelerator does not work with Clifton Hypalon (Shore) Adhesive FA 1065.

**Mixing Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844 with Clifton PVC Adhesive LA 4009

**

The addition of Clifton Accelerator to Clifton PVC Adhesive gives a high strength bond, with excellent chemical and heat resistance to repairs of PVC- and urethane-coated materials.

Note: Clifton PVC Adhesive LA 4009 may also be used as a one-part in an emergency, or where heat and chemical resistance is not required.

Mixing Instructions:

  1. To aid in mixing the adhesive and Accelerator, it’s handy to have a measuring device for the adhesive. We use Leaktite Multi-Mix 1-pint cups (Check at paint and hardware stores or do a web search for suppliers). They have volume marks in ounces and milliliters and are disposable.
  2. We’ve made measuring small quantities of the Accelerator easy with the included disposable transfer pipette. The stem of the pipette is marked in 0.25-milliliter graduations (see figure below).
  3. Follow the mixing proportions closely. Adding more accelerators than specified can adversely affect the glue bond.
  4. Measure out only the mixture amount you will use within a four-hour period. To prevent solvent evaporation, keep the mixture covered when not in use.
  5. The Accelerator is water sensitive and will crystallize when exposed to moist air. Keep tightly capped as much as possible. If you do get some crystallization, the remaining liquid portion is still good to use.
  6. ** If you don’t have the graduated pipette, you can use a regular eyedropper (found at most pharmacies) to dispense the Accelerator. There are approximately 25 “drops” in a milliliter. Clifton Accelerator ACC 4844
