Navigation Controls
ON/OFF Button
Switch your radio ON or OFF by moving the switch on the top of the radio.
Mode/Lock button
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button to switch between DAB, FM and SD Card Reader. To
lock and unlock the buttons of the radio, press and hold the ‘Mode/Lock’
button.
Previous/Next
Use the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons to navigate around the radio and browse
through your selections and stations available.
In FM mode these buttons can be held down to autoscan to the next or previous
available stations.
Menu/Info Button
Hold down the Menu/Info button to enter system settings. Select repeatedly
when on a DAB or FM station to view station information.
Enter/Play/Pause button
Press the ‘Enter’ button to pause/play in MP3 mode, and use to make and recall
preset stations in DAB and FM modes.
SD Card Port
Insert an SD card with MP3 files into the SD port to enjoy your own chosen
albums, songs and media.
Instructions Guide
Basic Operation
Please note all (Ref.) refer to the Controls and Functions mapping guide on
Page 1.
Switch the ‘ON/OFF’(Ref.1) button on top of the system to ‘ON’. “Welcome to
Digital Radio” will show on the display, followed by the clock time.
Ensure the system has been charged, the battery life will show on the display
when you turn on. If the battery icon shows all of the bars illuminated then
the system is fully charged.
To charge the device, use the USB cable provided and plug it into a computer
or a plug (not supplied) that accepts USB connectors.
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button to turn on the unit (Ref.3). The system should go
straight to DAB Radio and automatically start scanning for stations. The
display will show “Searching” and can take a few minutes to scan.
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button (Ref.3) to switch between DAB, FM or SD Card Reader. Ensure that the earphones are connected into the top of the system correctly (Ref.2) as they are also the antenna of your radio. Without them, no DAB/FM signal will be received.
Lock button
To lock and unlock the buttons of the radio, press and hold the ‘Mode/Lock’
button (Ref.3). If locked, an icon will display on thescreen.
To turn the radio off fully, switch the button on top of the unit (Ref.1) to
“Off”.
DAB/DAB+ Radio Mode
On first use of DAB Radio, the time and date will automatically update.
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button to go DAB mode(Ref.3). On first use DAB Radio
will automatically start scanning all stations and save them.
To auto scan (if it hasn’t automatically or shows no signal) press and hold
the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9) and when the display shows “FULL SCAN”, press
the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button to confirm the scan option (Ref.7).
The radio will then start scanning up the frequency band and store all
stations that have a good signal. Please note: ensure that you are in an area
with signal bars displaying.
The radio will automatically save all the stations with a strong signal. After
searching has finished it will automatically play the first station stored.
To listen to any of the stations that have been saved with strong signal, use
the ‘Next’ (Ref.8) and ‘Prev’ (Ref.5) buttons to navigate through the
stations. Press the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button to select the station you wish
to listen to. (Ref.7)
When you turn the radio on again after switching it off, it will automatically tune to the same station (DAB or FM) that was last selected.
Setting DAB Radio Preset Stations
How to preset a radio station
Up to 10 preset stations can be set. To store a station that you are currently
playing:
Press and hold ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7) and “Preset Empty ‘1’” will show on the
display.
Press ‘Prev’ (Ref.5) or ‘Next’ (Ref.8) button to change the ‘1’ to the number
you want to store the station as.
Then press the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7) to save.
The display will then show “Preset (1) stored”.
To set more preset stations, repeat the above process but use the ‘Previous’
or ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.5/8) to browse to the number you want to store the
station as.
How to play a preset radio station
Press the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7) to open presets (do not hold).
Press ‘Prev’ (Ref.5) or ‘Next’ (Ref.8) button to scroll through your preset
stations.
Press ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7) to select the preset station you wish to play.
DAB/DAB+ Radio Settings
Press and hold the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9) to open DAB settings. Using the ‘Prev/Next’ buttons, you can scroll through a range of other settings. Use the ‘Enter’ button to select (Ref.7)
Manual tune
Using the ‘Prev/Next’ buttons, you can scroll through the stations available
with channel number and their frequency. Select your choice by pressing the
‘Enter’ button.
DRC (Dynamic Range Compression)
Select to compress an audio’s dynamic range.
Station order
Select to choose how you would like the DAB stations to be presented as you
scroll through them. Use the ‘Prev/Next’ buttons to choose between Numeric-
Alpha and Ensemble Name. Select your choice with the ‘Enter’ button.
Additional settings:
There are also additional options that can be found by pressing and holding
‘Menu/Info’ such as: Time/Date, Language, Set
Backlight, Set Brightness, SW version and Factory Reset.
Please refer to page 15 onwards in the manual for guidance with these
settings.
Station Information for DAB/DAB+ Radio
Press the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9) repeatedly to show the programme
information.
Signal Strength: Displays a signal bar with the strength of the current
station.
Time and Date: Displays the time and the date.
Dynamic Label Segment (DLS): Displays scrolling text information supplied by
the broadcaster.
PTY (Programme Type): Shows the type and description of the programme provided
by the DAB station.
Channel Name: Displays the station’s name
Frequency: Displays the station’s frequency.
Bit Rate: The data rate which the signal is being transmitted.
FM Radio Mode
FM Radio
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button (Ref.3) to switch to FM. The first time you go on
FM mode, the FM frequency “87.5 MHz” will be displayed on the screen.
To auto scan to the next available station, press and hold the ‘Previous’
button (Ref.5) or ‘Next’ button (Ref.8) and then release.
After searching has finished, the radio will automatically play the first
station stored with a good signal.
To tune a specific frequency
To listen to a specific frequency, you can search slowly by pressing the
‘Next’ (Ref.8) and ‘Prev’ buttons (Ref.5) multiple times rather than holding.
To search quickly up the bandwidth to the next station with good signal,
follow the same process as an autoscan by pressing and holding the ‘Next’
button (Ref.8) to search up and ‘Prev’ (Ref.5) to search down the bandwidth.
Setting ‘All Stations’ or ‘Strong Stations’
You can set your radio to only receive FM stations with good signal, or all
stations available in the scan.
To do this, press and hold the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9) in FM mode. The
first option “Scan Setting” will display on the screen.
Select this option with the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7).
You can now use the ‘Prev/Next’ buttons to browse between ‘All Stations’ or
‘Strong Stations’. Select your choice with the ‘Enter’ button.
Stereo/Mono
In FM Mode, press and hold the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9). Use the ‘Next’
button to scroll to the option “Stereo Mono” on the screen. Select this option
with the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7).
Use the ‘Prev’ or ‘Next’ buttons to scroll between “Stereo Allowed” or “Forced
Mono”. Select your choice by pressing the ‘Enter’ button.
The default audio setting for all stations is Stereo mode. If you want to
improve the quality use the above instructions to change it to Mono mode.
Setting FM Radio Preset Stations
Preset a radio station
Up to 10 preset stations can be set. To store a station that you are currently
playing:
Press and hold the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ (Ref.7) button until “Preset Empty ‘1’’’
shows on the display with the number will be flashing.
Press ‘Prev’ (Ref.5) or ‘Next’ (Ref.8) buttons to change the “1” to the number
you want to store the station as. Then press the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button
(Ref.7) to save.
The display will then show “Preset (1) stored”.
To set more preset stations, repeat the above process but use the ‘Previous’
or ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.5/8) to browse to the number you want to store the
station as.
To recall a preset radio station
Press the‘Enter/Play/Pause’ (Ref.7) to open presets. Do not hold.
Press ‘Prev’ button (Ref.5) or ‘Next’ (Ref.8) to scroll through your preset
stations.
Press ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.7) to select the preset station you wish
to play.
Station Information for FM Radio
Press the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9) repeatedly to show the programme
information.
Signal Strength: Displays a signal bar with the strength of the current
station.
Time and Date: Displays the time and the date.
Frequency: Displays the station’s transmission frequency.
Audio Type: Displays the audio type of the station you are listening to; it
will either be Stereo or Mono.
Radio Text: Displays scrolling text information supplied by the broadcaster.
Programme Type: Displays a description of the type of programme provided by
the broadcaster.
SD Card Reader
Press the ‘Mode/Lock’ button (Ref.3) multiple times until “SD” is shown on the
display to indicate MP3 SD card mode.
Insert the micro SD card into the SD card reader slot (Ref.12) at the top of
the radio. Push it in and it will click into place. To remove the SD card,
push it in and it will click out of the radio.
The unit will automatically start reading the SD card and playing your first
track.
To scroll through available tracks, use the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons
(Ref.5/8). To play the track, press the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.7). You
can also pause the track by pressing this button whilst a song is playing.
If you have created folders for albums or playlists on the SD card, you can
also browse between these on the radio. To do this, press and hold the
‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button (Ref.7) to show the current folder the music is
playing from.
Follow by pressing and holding the ‘Enter/Play/Pause’ button for the second
time to go to the main “Folder menu” where you can scroll through your folders
using the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons (Ref.5/8).
When you switch your radio off and back on again to use it, the MP3 function
will automatically play the last song you were listening to.
Other Functions and Settings
When on either of the two modes, DAB or FM, access the radio settings by holding down the ‘Menu/Info’ button (Ref.9). Scroll through a range of settings using the ‘Previous’ or ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.5/8) and select with the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7).
Time/Date
On first use of DAB Radio, the time and date will automatically update once
put into DAB mode. If you wish to manually set the time and date, select this
option. The below options will then display:
Set Time/Date: Set the time first, followed by the date. Use the ‘Previous’ or ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.5/8) to scroll up and down the date and time. Press the ‘Enter’ button (Ref.7) to confirm after each setting made. Once complete it will display “Time/Date Saved”
Auto update: If DAB mode not yet scanned, you can do an automatic set of the clock and date. You can choose between No Update, Update from Both, Update from DAB, Update from FM.
Set 12/24 hour: Choose between Set 24 Hour or Set 12 Hour clock
Set Date Format: Choose how you would like the date formatted: DD-MM-YYYY or
MM-DD-YYYY. Select your choice by pressing ‘Enter”
Language
Select the ‘Language’ option and choose between two language options: English
and German. Select option by pressing ‘Enter’.
Set Backlight
Use the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons (Ref.5/8) to set how long you would like
the radio’s backlight to display before going to a lower dimmer setting.
Decide between the following lengths of time: 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120,
180, 300 seconds and confirm your selection by pressing the ‘Enter’ button.
Set Brightness
Use the ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ buttons to browse through the following
brightness levels: High, Medium, Low, Off. Select your choice by pressing the
‘Enter’ button.
SW Version – Software Version Display
Select this option to view the software version of your radio.
Factory Reset
Select this option to perform a factory reset of the radio and remove all
settings and preset options. This would also be advised to do if you are
having functionality issues. Once selected, “Factory Reset” will display, with
“Yes” or “No”. Use the ‘Next’ button to highlight “Yes” and press the ‘Enter’
button to confirm factory reset.
Charging
Connect the USB cable (supplied) with the small end into the charging port at
the bottom of the radio (Ref.11). Then connect the end of the USB cable into a
free USB port on your computer or another mains charger (not supplied).
Your radio includes an internal re-chargeable battery which can last 10-14
hours. The battery level is shown on the display, and it is advised to fully
charge the battery before removing from charge.
The radio should be recharged at first opportunity once the battery level is
at minimum charge.
Troubleshooting
Malfunction | Possible causes/measures |

No power / function | Check that the radio is charging and use it when fully |

No sound| Check whether unit is set to MUTE or not.
A station may not be tuned in. Do a rescan of the DAB or FM mode and ensure
that you are in an area with good signal.
I am not picking up any
stations or only a few.| Perform a reset of the radio and try rescanning for
DAB and FM stations.
