introduction

UV radiation with a wavelength smaller than 240nm generates ozone from atmospheric oxygen. This is dangerous for humans and animals in high concentrations. In the  ROOMMAP500, UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 254nm is used, a wavelength which, according to the literature, does not generate ozone. This must be confirmed by testing.

The purpose of this examination is to test whether the ROOMMAP500 produces and emits ozone.

  • closed room, no additional air circulation by air conditioners or ventilation. – G2 filter attached

description of the measurement

The ozone measuring instrument was switched on, the warm-up period of 3 minutes was observed. The instrument was now ready to use. At this time the ROOMMAP500 had been activated for 24 hours in a closed room at low fan speed. The ozone measuring instrument was now placed for 5 minutes in less than 5cm distance near the air exhaust of the ROOMMAP500, see figure 2. The display shows the value of the measured ozone below “ppm”, meaning “parts per million”. For the complete duration, the display showed “0.00ppm”.

During the operation of the ROOMMAP500, no amount of ozone emits the device that may be measured with the Trotec OZ-ONE. Since all measured values do not exceed 0.00ppm, a statistical evaluation is not required.
