HARDWARE
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before connecting the
HCS EVSE to, or disconnecting the HCS EVSE from power.
The Travel Bracket is designed to be permanently attached to the wall. The HCS
EVSE is the moveable portion and can quickly be removed for relocation when
moving or traveling.
The EVSE should be mounted 24 to 48 inches above the ground. The holster will
optimally be placed 8″ above the EVSE. See Figure 1.
Start by removing the two vinyl caps (F x 2) that cover the ends of the
threaded inserts. See Figure 2.
HCS Travel Bracket Mounting for Solid-Wall or Wood Stud Construction
The HCS Travel Bracket and HCS EVSE are best secured when mounted against a
solid wall or wood stud. Place the Travel Bracket such that both large
mounting holes can take advantage of solid structural framing inside of the
wall or a strong wall surface such as plywood with backing. Use a level to
adjust the Travel Bracket evenly along the wall. If mounting on a stud, use a
stud finder to locate the center. Mark two locations on the wall using the
large holes at the top and bottom center of the Travel Bracket as shown in
Figure 3.
- To secure the unit in concrete: Pre-drill appropriately sized holes and use multi-set or wedge anchor hardware at both mounting points. Place the Travel Bracket against the wall and secure it with screws.
- To secure the unit in brick or stone: Pre-drill appropriately sized holes and use sleeve anchors at both mounting points. Place the Travel Bracket against the wall and secure it with screws.
- To secure the unit against a wood stud: Pre-drill appropriately sized pilot holes to allow the lag screw to grip the wooden structure while preventing the wood from cracking or splintering while the screw is fastened. Place the Travel Bracket against the wall and secure it with the wood screws (B x 2) that are included with the Travel Bracket.
Ensure the Travel Bracket rests securely on the wall. See Mounting the HCS
EVSE instructions next.

Construction
HCS Travel Bracket Mounting for Sheet Rock Construction
Use a level to adjust the Travel Bracket evenly along the wall. Mark the four
locations on the wall using the smaller corner holes on the bracket as shown
in Figure 4.
Take the toggle bolt anchor off of the toggle bolt and insert the four toggle
bolts (E x 4) in the corner holes on the bracket. Put toggle bolts anchors
halfway onto screws, with the wide open end facing the head of the screw. See
Figure 4 (Back View). Use a drill to create holes large enough to push the
flattened toggle bolts through the wall. Start with a 3/8″ drill bit and widen
as needed.
NOTE: Keep the wall holes as small as possible to ensure a secure hold.
Line up the toggles to the holes on the wall, squeeze each toggle bolt
together and carefully push the toggle bolts into the wall holes. With
controlled motions, use a drill to tighten the screws in a star pattern,
keeping the toggle bolts held against the other side of the wall for pressure
when inserting the screws. The larger studs at the top and bottom of the
bracket can be gently pulled to help maintain pressure with the toggle bolts
against the back of the wall. Make sure all screws are flush and the bracket
is secure.
Ensure the Travel Bracket rests securely on the wall. See Mounting the HCS
EVSE instructions next.
IMPORTANT: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before connecting the
HCS EVSE to power.
Mounting the HCS EVSE
Place the HCS unit onto the Travel Bracket using the threaded posts that
protrude from the top and bottom of the bracket as shown in Figure 5. Place
the plastic angle washers (that were included with the HCS), then the washers
(D x 2) onto the screws and secure both screws with wing nuts (C x 2) as shown
in Figure 5.
NOTE: There are two different sets of plastic angle washers included with
the HCS EVSE. Select the Perpendicular Screw Mount Angled Washers only.

REMOVING THE HCS FOR TRAVEL
IMPORTANT: Turn off power at the circuit breaker before disconnecting
the HCS EVSE from power.
Unscrew and remove wing nuts, washers, and plastic angle washers. Gently pull
to remove the HCS EVSE from the Travel Bracket. The wing nuts, washers,
plastic angle washers, and the HCS EVSE will be used at the next location.
NOTE: Save the plastic bag to bring the angle washers when traveling.
