Safety, Environmental and Setup Instructions

  • The mains plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect devices shall remain readily operable.
  • Connect this device to a properly installed and earthed wall outlet only. Make sure the mains voltage corresponds with the specifications on the rating plate.
  • Make sure the mains cable stays dry during operation. Do not pinch or damage the mains cable in any way.
  • A damaged mains cable or plug must immediately be replaced by an authorized service center.
  • In case of lightning, immediately disconnect the device from the mains supply.
  • Children should be supervised by parents when using the device.
  • Clean the device with a dry cloth only.
  • Do NOT use CLEANING AGENTS or ABRASIVE CLOTHS!
  • Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or other heat sources.
  • Install the device at a location with sufficient ventilation in order to prevent heat accumulation.
  • Do not cover the ventilation openings!
  • Install the device at a safe and vibration-free location.
  • Install the device as far away as possible from computers and microwave units; otherwise radio reception may be disturbed.
  • Do not open or repair the enclosure. It is not safe to do so and will void your warranty. Repairs only by authorized service/ customer center.
  • No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the unit.
  • When you are necessary to ship the unit store it in its original package. Save the package for this purpose.
  • In case of malfunction due to electrostatic discharge or fast transient (burst), remove and reconnect the power supply.
  • If the unit is not using for a long period of time, disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the power plug. This is to avoid the risk of fire.

INSTALLATION

CONTENT OF DELIVERY

  • Main unit

POWER SUPPLY

  • Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on the identification plate on the main unit.
  • Connect the supplied power cable to a properly installed safety power socket and the plug of the cable into the AC IN socket at the back side of the unit.

BATTERY OPERATION

  1. Open the lid of the battery compartment at the back of the unit.
  2. Insert 4 batteries of type UM-1 (“D” size) 1.5 V. Please ensure that the polarity is correct (see indicated in the battery compartment).
  3. Then close the battery lid.

Note:
When the unit is powered by batteries, in order to play longer time, it is better not to adjust the volume to max.
If the device is operated with batteries and is in standby mode, the batteries will still be discharged. To avoid this, we recommend removing the batteries or connecting the device to the mains.

ERP power managment
The device automatically switches to standby after 15 minutes if there is no audio signal. To turn the device on again, turn it off and then on again.

BASIC OPERATIONS

POWER ON / OFF
Switch the unit with the “FUNCTION SELECTOR” on and off (tape position).
SOURCE SELECTION
Select with the “FUNCTION SELECTOR” to one of the desired sources below:

  • DAB/FM
  • BT/USB/SD
  • TAPE/OFF

ADJUSTING VOLUME
Rotate the “Volume control” knob clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the volume.
ADJUSTING BASS
Turn the “Bass adjustment” knob clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the bass tones.

DAB

Extend completely the telescopic antenna.

  1. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR” to the DAB/FM position.
  2. Press the “MODE” button repeatedly to select the DAB mode.
  3. At the first start the unit will automatically start the scan function and search all available stations.
  4. During the scan the display will show “Scanning ………” together with a slide bar that indicate the progress of the scan and the number of stations that have been found.
  5. After the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically found station.
  6. To explore the found stations, rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select the desired radio station and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm the selected station.

Note: If no stations are found after auto scan, press the “SCAN” button to perform a new automatic station scan.

DAB FULL SCAN

The full scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.

  1. To activate a full scan, press the “MENU” button in DAB-Mode to enter into the menu.
  2. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select “Full Scan” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm. The display will show “Scanning ………” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the number stations that have been found so far.
  3. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To select a station,rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob and press “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm the selected station.

DAB MANUAL TUNE

As well as the full scan function, you can manually tune the radio. This can help if you know your radio has missed stations.

  1. Press the “MENU” button in DAB-Mode to enter the menu and choose with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob the function “Manual tune”. Confirm the selection by pressing the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob.
  2. Choose with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob the DAB channel from 5A to 13F.
  3. After your desired DAB channel number is selected, press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” button to enter the current multiplex. Now the display will show the multiplex.
  4. You will not see any new radio stations while in manual tune. To find the newly tuned in stations search through the station list.

STORE RADIO STATIONS

In either DAB or FM, you can store up to 30 of your favorite stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favorite stations quickly and easily.

  1. To store a station, select the desired station.

  2. Press and hold the “PRESET” button. The display will show “Preset Store” and below“<1: (Empty) >”.
    Note: If there is a station that already stored, it will show the stored “Station name/frequency and P#”.

  3. Select with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob your desired preset station number and the press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm. The station will be stored and the display will show “Preset # stored”.

  4. Repeat step 1 and 3 to store further stations.

RECALL STORED RADIO STATIONS

  1. To recall a stored station, press the “PRESET” button. Choose with the “UP/DOWN/CONFIRMATION” knob the desired station and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm.
  2. If you choose a preset station number that has not been allocated a station,” Empty” will displayed.

DAB DISPLAY INFORMATION
Press the “INFO” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
DRC (Dynamic range compression)
This function reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest audio being broadcast. Effectively, this makes quiet sounds comparatively louder, and loud sounds comparatively quieter.
Note: DRC only works if it is enabled by the broadcaster for a specific station.

  1. Press the “MENU” button and rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select the function “DRC” , press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm.
  2. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select the desired mode: off/high/low and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm your selection.

PRUNE INVALID
You may remove all unavailable stations from the list.

  1. In DAB mode, press the “MENU” button. Select with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob the function “Prune” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” button to confirm.
  2. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select “Yes” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” button to confirm delete or select “No” to cancel.

FM

Extend completely the telescopic antenna.
Press the “MODE” button repeatedly to select the FM mode.

AUTOMATIC STATION SEARCH

  1. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob clockwise and press the “SCAN” button. The radio begins to search forward and will automatically stop when a station is found.
  2. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob counter-clockwise and press the “SCAN” button. The radio begins to search backward and will automatically stop when a station is found.
  • MANUAL STATION SEARCH
    Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob until the desired radio station is found.
    Note: In order to get a better reception, please adjust the antenna position. Under the “Audio setting mode”, choose the “forced mono” mode, the FM reception effect will be better.

  • AUTO STORE RADIO STATIONS
    Press and hold the “SCAN” button to start the auto scan. During the scan the display will show “Scanning…”. After the scan has finished, the unit will select the first found station.

  • STORE RADIO STATIONS
    To store radio stations is the same as in DAB mode.

  • RECALL STORED RADIO STATIONS
    To recall radio stations is the same as in DAB mode.

  • FM DISPLAY INFORMATION
    Press the “INFO” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.

SCAN SETTING (Strong Stations/ All Stations)

  1. In FM mode, press the “MENU” button to enter the FM menu. The display will show” “Scan setting”.
  2. Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to enter the scan setting. Rotate and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select the desired scan mode.

AUDIO SETTING (Stereo allowed/ Forced mono)

  1. Press the “MENU” button to enter the FM menu. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to choose “Audio setting” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm.
  2. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select the desired audio setting “Stereo allowed” or “Forced mono”. Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm.

BLUETOOTH

If you are using a Bluetooth® audio device, make sure the working distance is within 10 meters. Different environment may have effect on the working distance.

  1. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR“ to the “BT/USB/SD” position.
  2. Press the “MODE” button repeatedly to select the Bluetooth® mode (“Bluetooth” will be displayed).
  3. Turn on the Bluetooth® function on your audio device and choose “SRR70”. After your audio device is paired successfully, “Connected” will be displayed.
  4. Press “PLAY” to start or interrupt the playback.
  5. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to choose the previous or next track.

USB/SD

  1. USB: Plug the USB device at the top side of the unit.
    SD: Plug the SD Card into the SD Card slot at the top side of the unit.

  2. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR“ to the “BT/USB/SD” position and press the “MODE” button repeatedly to select the USB or SD mode.

  3. Press “PLAY” to start or interrupt the playback.

  4. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to choose the previous or next track.

HEADPHONES

Insert the headphones into the headphone jack. Start the desired playback and adjust the volume. The speaker will be muted.
Note: To avoid possible hearing damage, limit the time listening at high volumes.

CASSETTE OPERATION

  1. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR” to the “TAPE/OFF” position.
  2. Insert the prerecorded cassette into the cassette tray, and press the “PLAY” button.
  3. To fast forward, press the “FAST FORWARD” button in. To stop fast forwarding and return to the playback mode, press the “PLAY” button.
  4. To rewind, press the “FAST REWIND” button in. To stop rewinding and return to the playback mode, press the “PLAY” button.
  5. To stop the playback, press the “STOP/EJECT” button once. To eject the cassette, press the “STOP/EJECT” button again.

Note: Remove the cassette from the cassette holder when it is not in use.

CASSETTE RECORDING

RADIO to TAPE

  1. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR“ to the “RADIO” (DAB/FM) position
  2. Insert a cassette tape and press the “RECORD” button to record the sounds from the radio.
  3. To interrupt the recording, press the “PAUSE” button. Press the “PAUSE” button again to continue the record.
  4. To stop the recording, press the “STOP/EJECT” button.

USB/SD/BLUETOOTH to TAPE
Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR“ to the “BT/USB/SD” position

  1. Insert a cassette tape, and press the “RECORD” button to record the sounds from BT/USB/SD.
  2. To interrupt the recoding, press the “PAUSE” button. Press the “PAUSE” button again to continue the record.
  3. To stop the recording, press the “STOP/EJECT” button.

MICROPHONE to TAPE

  1. Set the “FUNCTION SELECTOR“ in Tape position
  2. Insert a cassette tape and press the “RECORD” button to record sound from the built-in microphone.
  3. To interrupt the recoding, press the “PAUSE” button. Press the “PAUSE” button again to continue the record.
  4. To stop the recording, press the “STOP/EJECT” button.

SLEEP

  1. Press the “MENU” button to enter the menu. Select with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob the function “SYSTEM” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob.
  2. Select the function “SLEEP” and confirm again with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob.
  3. Turn the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knop to choose the sleep time 15/30/45/60/90 and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knop to confirm the selection.
  4. The unit will power off after the time which you choose.

Note:

  1. If you want to check the sleep left time, repeat point 1 from above.
  2. If you want to reset the sleep function, repeat the steps above and turn the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob until “Sleep off” is displayed. Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm your selection.

ALARM

SET THE ALARM
Note: Only buzzer for wake-up sound is available. When the Alarm is activated, the alarm icon “1” or “2” appears on the upper right side of the display

  1. During standby mode, press the “MENU” button to enter the menu. Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select “System”. Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to cycle through the options to select the function “Alarm” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm your selection.
  2. Turn the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to choose between “Alarm1” or “Alarm2”. Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm your selection.
  3. Set the hour with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob and press them to confirm. The minute of the alarm will begin to flash.
  4. Set the minute with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob and press them to confirm. The duration time is flashing in the display.
  5. Set the duration time (15/30/45/60/90/120) with the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob and press them to confirm.
  6. Select the wake-up mode (Daily/Once/Weekends/Weekdays) with the “UP/DOWN/CONFIRMATION” knob and press them to confirm. If you select “Once” you are prompted to set the date for the alarm.
  7. Turn the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to select “Alarm On” or “Alarm Off” and press them to confirm your selection.
  8. The setting is finished and the display show “Alarm saved”

TURN OFF ALARM
Press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” button to turn off the wake-up sound. The alarm is not completely de-activated.

SETTINGS

Set the unit in DAB or FM mode and press the “MENU” button. Rotate the “UP/DOWN/CONFIRMATION” knob to “System” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm. To choose the desired adjustment, rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm. Press the “MENU” button to log out.

  • Time
    Set manual time/date, Auto update, set date format.

  • Language
    Set the desired language: English – French – German – Italiano – Portuguese.

  • Factory Reset
    Rotate the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to “Yes” and press the “UP/DOWN /CONFIRMATION” knob to confirm the reset. All stations and adjustments will be deleted!
    Select “No” to cancel the factory reset.
    Note: If there is any system error or the unit cannot be operated normally, unplug the power adaptor first. After several minutes plug it in and restart the device.

  • SW Version
    You can see the installed software version.
