Regeneration Procedure
The TR Series cartridge will need to be regenerated prior to use, and whenever
the colour in the water starts to return. It is important to note that the
level of tannins/organics and the volume of water consumed are two factors
which will impact the regeneration frequency. Puretec always recommend taking
preventative measures including trimming back overhanging foliage, installing
gutter mesh and devices to divert the first flush of rainwater away from the
storage tank(s).
Please follow the procedure below to regenerate the cartridge:
- Turn off the water supply and release pressure by opening a downstream tap.
- Unscrew the housing bowl and remove the filter cartridge (if already installed) and allow the cartridge to drain completely.
- Empty the filter housing bowl and add 400 grams of salt to the bowl.
- Fill to 1⁄4 with warm water and stir to dissolve the salt.
- Add the filter cartridge to the filter housing bowl.
- Fill with cold water to the top of the housing bowl and allow to soak for 30 – 60 minutes.
- Empty the bowl and remove the cartridge letting it drain for 1 – 2 minutes before placing it back into the housing bowl and screw into the housing head.
- Flush the salty water out of the cartridge for 1-2 minutes, by turning the water supply on and opening the tap closest to the filter system.
- The cartridge is ready for use.
The TR Series cartridge is specifically for tannin/organics reduction only, it
is not designed for sediment or taste/odour reduction, so is best used in
conjunction with a two or three stage filtration system such as the
HYBRID-G13. It is recommended to have sediment pre-filtration to avoid
premature blocking of the TR Series cartridge, and carbon post-filtration to
reduce taste & odour.
Replace the cartridge annually, or sooner if significantly shortened capacity
is observed.
