Installing or Replacing the Battery Pack
The PHS BTH-600 BT Speaker Microphone gets its power from a rechargeable
Lithium-Ion type battery pack. The battery pack must be installed inside the
Microphone prior to operation. Under normal usage, this battery should have a
lifespan of over 1,500 charge/discharge cycles before needing to be replaced.
To access the battery compartment:
- Rotate the thumbscrew counter-clockwise until the cover opens. Remove the battery door.
- Insert the rechargeable battery pack into the battery compartment. Ensure that the battery terminals are properly lined up with the contacts inside of the battery compartment.
- Reinstall the battery compartment cover and rotate the thumbscrew clockwise to tighten. DO NOT over tighten.

When pairing the PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone with a PlanetBlu Radio Adapter
or an Icom or Kenwood radio, make sure that the Speaker Microphone is powered
off to start.
-
Hold down the Multifunction Button on the PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone. Continue to hold the button down for approximately 3 seconds, until you see the LED on the Speaker Microphone begin to quickly flash RED-BLUERED-
BLUE in sequence. The PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone is now in pairing mode. -
If you are pairing the microphone to a PlanetBlu adapter, place the adapter into pairing mode following the instructions in the user’s manual for that device. -
If you are pairing the microphone with an Icom or Kenwood two-way radio, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to have the radio scan for nearby headset devices. Once it finishes scanning, select the PlanetBlu microphone from the list of nearby devices.
-
If a PlanetBlu Radio Adapter does not detect the Speaker Microphone within 60 seconds of being put into mpairing mode, the adapter will exit the pairing mode and resume normal operation.
-
Once successfully paired, you will be able to operate your 2-way radio using the PlanetBlu Speaker Mic.
Reconnecting a Previously Paired Speaker Microphone and Radio
Adapter/Radio
Once the PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone and radio/adapter have been successfully
paired together, both devices will remember that connection. The adapter/radio
and Speaker Mic will attempt to re-establish their
link whenever the radio/adapter and Microphone are both powered on and in
within range of each other.
Re-establishing this connection can take 10-60 seconds.
Pairing with a Cellphone

When transmitting or on a phone call, the operator’s voice is picked-up by the Microphone in the PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone.
Push-to-Talk can be activated one of several different ways:
- By pressing and holding the PTT button on the PlanetBlu Speaker Microphone.
- By pressing and holding the Talk button on the PlanetBlu Adapter.
- Using an optional wired PTT that is plugged into the PlanetBlu Adapter.
- Using an optional PlanetBlu Wireless BT PTT (model BT-PTT2, sold separately). Note that if you are using a PlanetBlu BT-PTT2, you will first need to pair the adapter with the PTT using the instructions located in the PlanetBlu PTT User’s Guide.
To answer or hang up a call, press the orange Phone Button on the side of the Speaker Microphone or use the user interface on the phone itself.
