OPERATING & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing this CLARKE Power Pack & Jump Starter
Before attempting to use this product, please read this manual thoroughly and
follow the instructions carefully. In doing so you will ensure the safety of
yourself
and that of others around you, and you can look forward to your purchase
giving you long and satisfactory service.
Please keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
GUARANTEE
This product is guaranteed against faulty manufacture for a period of 12
months from the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt which will be
required as proof of purchase.
This guarantee is invalid if the product is found to have been abused or
tampered with in any way, or not used for the purpose for which it was
intended.
Faulty goods should be returned to their place of purchase, no product can be
returned to us without prior permission.
This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.
ENVIRONMENTAL RECYCLING POLICY
Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery – Recycle in accordance with WEEE regulations.
Through the purchase of this product, the customer is taking on the obligation
to deal with the WEEE in accordance with the WEEE regulations in relation to
the treatment, recycling & recovery, and environmentally sound disposal of the
WEEE.
In effect, this means that this product must not be disposed of with general
household waste. It must be disposed of according to the laws governing Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) at a recognized disposal facility.

OVERVIEW
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING: ALL LEAD-ACID BATTERIES GENERATE HYDROGEN GAS DURING NORMAL OPERATION. THIS PROCESS INCREASES DURING A PERIOD OF RAPID DISCHARGE. HYDROGEN GAS AND BATTERY ACID (SULPHURIC ACID) CAN BE EXPLOSIVE, CORROSIVE TO SKIN, EYES, AND HAIR, DAMAGING TO CLOTHING AND METALS, FLAMMABLE, POISONOUS TO BREATHE.

ALWAYS ensure when jump-starting that there is air circulating around the device.

NEVER allow the negative and positive leads on this unit, to touch each other or to touch the same metal object.

Although the jump starter is water-resistant and may be used outdoors, DO NOT leave it exposed to the elements. Avoid direct sunlight, direct heat, rain/moisture, etc.

The jump starter is designed for use on petrol cars up to 3L/3000cc with 12V batteries.

DO NOT operate the jump starter if any of the cables are damaged.
Consult your CLARKE dealer for the repair or replacement of the parts. -
DO NOT operate the jump starter if the case is damaged. Consult your CLARKE dealer or a qualified person for inspection and repair.

Ensure the vehicle battery posts and battery clamps are perfectly clean before use.

When connecting the jump starter leads to a battery, ensure the device is switched OFF, and ALWAYS connect the RED (positive’+’) output conductor to the UNEARTHED (+) battery terminal FIRST, then connect the BLACK, (negative’-’) conductor to a suitable earthing point on the chassis or battery, well away from any fuel lines.

To prevent the battery overheating and consequent damage, DO NOT exceed our recommendations for the duration of jump-starting.

This jump starter is NOT designed to be used as a replacement for the vehicle battery.

DO NOT attempt to BOOST CHARGE the jump starter’s sealed battery.

NEVER attempt any repairs yourself. If you have a problem with the jump starter contact your local CLARKE dealer.

NEVER jump-start the engine whilst the jump starter is being charged.

ALWAYS store the jump starter out of reach of children.
POWERPACK CHARGING
- Fully charge your jump starter battery unit before using it for the first time.
- Recharge the jump starter battery unit after every occasion of use if possible, and thereafter, at least every 6 months.
- ALWAYS AVOID leaving your jump starter unit in a discharged state.
FOLLOW THE ABOVE POINTS TO ENSURE MAXIMUM LIFE FROM THE BATTERY.
BATTERY CAPACITY INDICATOR LIGHTS
Pressing the power switch, the indicator lights will show as follows:

During the charging of the power pack, the power indicator lights will flash
and turn on one by one. When all four lights remain on, it means the unit is
fully charged.
During the discharging of the unit, if the first indicator light is flashing,
it means the unit is short of power and needs recharging.
There are three means of charging the power pack:
- Via a 230V USB mains adaptor (not supplied), using the USB charging cable
- Via a PC’s USB terminal, using the USB charging cable.
- Via a 12V auxiliary vehicle adapter (not supplied), with the USB charging cable.
CHARGING USING A 230V USB MAINS ADAPTOR OR PC TERMINAL

Plug the C-TYpe end of the charging cable into the C-type port on the Jump Starter power pack.

Plug the USB plug end of the charging cable into a USB mains adaptor (not supplied) or a PC’s USB terminal and switch on.
• The BLUE charging/indicator lights on the jump starter will come on and start flashing to indicate charging is in progress.

Continue to charge until all 4 BLUE charging lights stop flashing and stay on.
It is important to note that this could take up to 4 hours, depending upon the state of charge of the battery.
CHARGING USING A 12V AUXILIARY ADAPTOR

Plug the C-type end of the charging cable into the C-Type port on the Jump Starter power pack.

Plug the USB end of the charging cable into a USB 12V auxiliary adaptor (not supplied) and insert the 12V adaptor into your car’s 12V auxiliary port.
• The BLUE charging/indicator lights on the jump starter will come on and start flashing to indicate charging is in progress.

Continue to charge until all 4 BLUE charging lights stop flashing and stay on. It is important to note that this could take up to 4 hours, depending upon the state of charge of the battery.
MAINTENANCE
Always ensure the cables & clamps are in good condition and the clamps are clean and corrosion-free. If damaged they should be replaced. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a dry cloth. DO NOT use solvents as a cleaning agent. NEVER attempt any repair unless you are a qualified technician. Your CLARKE jump starter has been designed to give long and trouble-free service. If, however, having followed the instructions in this booklet carefully, you encounter problems, take the unit to your local CLARKE dealer.
OPERATION

LED LIGHT
The power pack has an LED light that has 3 settings and can be used as a torch
or safety lighting as follows.
- Press and hold the power switch for 3 seconds to turn on the torch setting.
- Press the power switch again to turn on the LED flashing strobe effect lighting.
- Press the power switch for a third time to turn on the LED SOS flashing effect lighting.
- Press the power switch for a fourth time to turn the LED light off.
CHARGING MOBILE PRODUCTS
- Choose the appropriate mobile charging adaptor on the charging cable, Lightning, Micro USB or USB-C type, and connect to the device to be charged.
- Insert the USB end of the charging lead into the USB output charging port on the power pack.
- Press the power switch for charging to begin.
NOTE: The blue indicator lights will keep bright when charging. If the device doesn’t start charging after 3 seconds the indicator lights and the device will turn off.
JUMP STARTING A 12V CAR (PETROL ONLY)
WARNING: IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT COULD BE DAMAGED
BY JUMP-STARTING. ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE CAR MANUFACTURER’S HANDBOOK TO
DETERMINE WHAT PRECAUTIONS IF ANY SHOULD BE TAKEN.
ALWAYS carry out the following preliminary checks before connecting the
jump starter to the car battery:
- Ensure the vehicle ignition and ALL ancillary equipment – lighting, radio, etc, are switched off.
- Ensure the vehicle battery is rated at 12V and is not damaged in any way. If the battery is damaged, replace the battery, DO NOT try and recharge.
- Ensure the battery terminals are clean and the clamps are firm and secure.
- Ensure the area is well ventilated.
- Take great care not to touch the red positive (+) clamp against the black negative (-) clamp.

Make sure two or more power indicator lights are showing on the jump starter.

Connect the red positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal first. Take care the clamp does not contact any moving parts or fuel lines.

Connect the black negative (-) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal or to a suitable earthing point on the vehicle chassis ensuring the connections are firm and secure.

Insert the blue plug end of the battery jump starter lead into the 12v car jump the port on the battery unit, making sure the lead is firmly and correctly inserted, otherwise, it may affect the starting function.

Switch the car ignition to start for no more than 6 seconds. If the car doesn’t start, switch off and wait 3 minutes before trying again.

If the car fails to start on the first attempt, make sure all lead connections are correctly positioned. If, after 3 attempts to jump-start the car have failed, STOP, as this may damage the car and/or its electrical systems.

Once the car has started, remove the jump starter lead from the power pack, before removing the clamps from the battery.
