SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Do not use this apparatus near water.
2.  Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
3.  A warning that batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
4.  Never disassemble, hit with force, squeeze batteries or dispose of batteries in fire.
5. . Do not expose batteries in conductive materials, liquid, fire or heat.
6.  Do not let metal object contact two battery poles. If the battery looks swollen, leaking, discolored, having odor or any abnormal appearance, stop using it.
7.  Do not use the battery after immersed in water.
8.  Improper use of battery may lead to explosion or leakage, causing skin burn or other injuries; in the event of battery leakage, handle it with care and immediately dispose of the battery in the manner in compliance with
9. plicable laws and regulations in your locality.
10.  The battery subjected to extremely low air pressure that may result in an explosion or the leakage of flammable liquid or gas.

IMPORTANT

1.  If powered by a 9V DC adapter and the continuous use time exceeds 7 hours, the charging indicator light will flash, and the charging function of PE5 will automatically turn off to avoid overcharging and shortening the life of the battery.
   The PE5 will not work while charging from an USB port.

OVERVIEW OF THE PE5

1. The PE-5 is a pedal was primarily designed for bass guitar and upright bass but can also be used on other instruments such as guitar and keyboards.
2. It has a unique switchable input impedance so it can match exactly for magnetic or piezo pickups allowing the full spectrum for either pickup source. Very often piezo pickups can get mismatched to preamp pedals resulting in weaker bass tone. The PE-5s dual input impedance allows for a perfect tone on both types of pickups.
3. It is also a signal booster to compensate for low output pickups and give more than enough drive for any amplifier. There is an input level and gain control so it will match exactly the pickup output to amplifier.
4. The line output is strong enough to use direct into a power amplifier or powered speaker.
5. The 5-band EQ is a high precision equalizer; that means that each boost or cut level is identical to each adjacent band. Also the Q factor of each band is identical. This makes it far easier to get the tone you are looking for.
6. These frequency bands were carefully chosen for the voice of a bass so that the user will be able to adjust the EQ rapidly to get the desired sound.
7. The DI output is the best audio quality obtainable so will match even the finest recording studio mixing consoles or for live sound systems. It has extremely high signal to noise ratio and features a ground lift switch to kill any possibility on “Mains Hum”.
8. The PE5 can be powered by any 9-volt DC pedal adaptor or can be run on its own internal power source since it features an internal lithium-ion battery that is charged with a standard cell phone charger via its USB socket.
9. The two foot switches allow a mute function and a true bypass.
10. The rugged housing is die cast aluminum alloy to give years of use.

FUNCTIONS OVERVIEW

1. 1/4” INPUT JACK
   The input jack accepts an unbalanced signal from your bass via a standard 1/4” instrument cable.

2. INPUT IMPEDANCE SWITCH
   “MG” for magnetic pick up; ”PZ” for piezo pickup.

3. DC IN
   External power supply connection 9VDC / 1A.

4. USB TYPE-C
   For Charges Inner Li-Battery.

5. BATTERY CHARGE INDICATOR
   The LED indicator is red when charging, and will turn off fully charged.

6. LOW-BASS EQ CONTROL
   This will adjust the fundamental tones of E and A strings on 4 string basses and B,E & A on 5 string basses.

7. HIGH BASS EQ CONTROL
   This will adjust the fundamental tones of D and G-strings on 4 & 5 string basses.

12. 1/4” OUTPUT JACK
    This output can be connected to a power amp, powered cabinet and unbalanced input of other devices via a standard 1/4” instrument cable.
    

13. BALANCED LINE OUT XLR SOCKET
    This is a low impedance (200Ω) balanced line out for use with recording or PA mixing consoles. This output is not controlled by the volume control. Changing the level on your instrument will however, vary the DI output.

14. GROUND /LIFT BALANCED LINE OUT
    This allows the grounding of balanced out socket to be disconnected. This is useful if you are experiencing hum caused by grounding loops/problems.

15. PRE/POST EQ BALANCED LINE OUT
    The output can be either direct from the source or via the EQ circuit.

16. MUTE SWITCH
    To cut the sound off from the instrument.

17. MUTE INDICATOR
    The LED is blue when you have muted the instrument.

18. OUTPUT LEVEL CONTROL
    Can adjust the volume or match the output to an amplifier/mixer.

19. INPUT GAIN CONTROL
    Allows the matching to weak or strong pickups.

20. ON SWITCH
    Turns the preamp on and off ;the LED indicator is green when the EQ is on. This pedal features “true bypass” circuit that means when the PREAMP is ‘off’, there will be no audio signal quality loss.

SERVICE/WARRANTY INFORMATION
The PE5 has one year limited warranty on parts and labor. Products must be purchased from an authorized PJB dealer. Buyer must complete and return the enclosed warranty card within 15 days of purchase, or register online at https://pjbgear.com/war-ranty/
This warranty covers defect in materials or workmanship that occurs in normal use. Within the warranty period PJB or its local distributor will repair or replace the defective unit free of labor and parts charge. It is the buyer’s responsibility to use the unit strictly according to instructions written in the owner’s manual. This warranty is not transferable; it is provided to original owner only. Damage/defects caused by the following conditions are not covered by this warranty:

• Improper handling, neglect or failure to operate the unit in compliance with the instructions given in user manual;
• Connection or operation in any way that does not comply with the technical or safely regulations applicable in the country where the product is used;
• Repairs or modifications by anyone other than authorized PJB service agent;
• Damages/defects caused by forces of nature or any other condition that is beyond the control of PJB.
