The CMP-1226 8 Point Crimp Tool is used for crimping wires (12-26 AWG) and contacts for electrical connectors. The CMP-1226 requires a turret head (sold separately to perform the crimping operation. More info for the Turret Heads (CMP-3) can be found at www.jonard.com. Before crimping, a positioning or turret head needs to be installed on the CMP-1226 crimping tool. In the installation instructions below we will be using the Jonard Tools CMP-3 front release turret head.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1.  Ensure the Turret is exposed by pressing the Release Leveler on the side of the Turret Head.
  2.  Insert the Turret Head into the crimper by aligning the pin on the bottom of the Turret Head with the pin hole on the crimper.JONARDTOOLS CMP-1226 8 Point Connector Crimp Tool 2
  3.  Using a hex key, tighten the two captive screws on the top of the Turret Head to lock the head in place.
  4.  Use the chart below (also on the Turret Head) to determine which position of the selector knob is needed based on the size of the wire being used:JONARDTOOLS CMP-1226 8 Point Connector Crimp Tool 3
  5. Select the corresponding wire size on the selector knob by aligning the selection number/wire size with the selection arrow on the left side. To rotate the selector knob, remove the spring lock, pull the knob upward, rotate to the position needed, and release. Make sure the handles of the crimper are not compressed and the turret is released before rotating the selector knob.
  6. Use the chart on the side of the Turret Head to determine which color insert to select on the turret based on the wire and contact sizes. For example, if you have a wire size of 22 AWG and a size 20 contact, you will need to rotate the red insert so that it’s aligned with the white mark on the top of the Turret Head.
  7. Push down on the Turret Head until you hear a click.
  8. Insert the contact into the back of the crimper, then insert the corresponding wire into the contact. Make sure that the handles of the crimper are not compressed while doing this.JONARDTOOLS CMP-1226 8 Point Connector Crimp Tool 6
  9. Squeeze the handles together until the ratchet releases. The tool will return to it’s fully open position, and the wire will be
