Preparing COTX-X3 Gateway

  • Step 1: Install the LoRa antenna on the LoRa Antenna port.
  • Step 2: Place the gateway in a proper location (e.g. near a window) to have the optimum coverage and signal reception.
  • Step 3: For Ethernet access to WAN/Internet scenario, please connect Ethernet port on the gateway to an existing router with an Ethernet cable. ****
  • Step 4: Power supply connecon-plug the power adapter to a 110~220V AC power source(socket), connect the micro USB connector to the PWR INPUT port on the gateway.

After the power connection, the LED would light up and turn green when it’s ready for further configuration. IP address would show on the screen for Ethernet cable connect to WAN/Internet scenario. Click the BT button and the screen will display the Ethernet IP and device status.

Configuring Gateway by Helium APP

To configure the gateway, please download the Helium APP from Apple APP store or Google Play directly by searching “Helium”. Please create a Helium wallet account first and then continue to the next step shown below:

  • Step 1: Turn on COTX Gateway’s BT, so the Helium APP can detect the gateway to further configuration. Press the BT button for 5 seconds to turn on Bluetooth, the screen will indicate that the BLE status is on
  • Step 2: Open Helium application and login
  • Step 3: Tap “Add a Hotspot” and Gateways” from the list.COTX X3 Intelligent IoT Gateway 9
  • Step 4: Following the App operation steps to reach below user interface, then press the BT button 5 seconds to turn on the gateway BT for pairing and then click “Scan for my Hotspot”.
  • Step 5: Tap the corresponding icon to enter the correct gateway in the App through matching the last 4 charac-ters(e.g.0B:99) shown in the application with the last 4 characters of the MAC address sticker on the bottom of the gateway(e.g. XX:XX:0B:99).
  • Step 6: The App will show all the available Wi-Fi networks listed as below screenshot.
    • For Wi-Fi access to WAN/Internet scenario, tap on the corresponding Wi-Fi network on the App which will bring you to the following user interface. Key in the correct Wi-Fi password then tap “Connect” to access Internet.
    • For Ethernet access to WAN/Internet scenario, tap “Use Ethernet Instead” and skip to Step 7.COTX X3 Intelligent IoT Gateway 12
  • Step 7: Follow the App’s instructions to position the gateway’s location.COTX X3 Intelligent IoT Gateway 13
  • Step 8: Tap “Register Hotspots“ to register the gateway in the Helium Network. It will take you approximately 15 minutes to join the Helium network. Then the whole setup process is done.COTX X3 Intelligent IoT Gateway 14
