Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Adastra L01R portable megaphone for voice reinforcement. This product is designed to offer convenient and easy operation for a wide range of portable public-address requirements. Please use the following instructions to gain the best results from your L01R megaphone.
Safety
The L01R megaphone can produce high sound pressure levels at close quarters.
Please be aware not to aim the horn flare toward listeners at close proximity,
which may risk damage to the listeners’ hearing.
The L01R operates from 4 x “C” cell batteries. It is advised to use alkaline
or NiMH batteries and remove these when not in use for long periods of time.
Some batteries can leak fluids that are corrosive and can cause damage to the
internal circuitry.
Positioning during operation
When in use, the handgrip of the megaphone should be folded out fully and held firmly with the flare facing toward the audience. Keeping the loop strap around the wrist is advised for added security. In between uses, the megaphone can be placed on a flat surface with the flare facing downward, protected by the rubber trim around the flared edge.
Cleaning
The housing is water-resistant and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents on the housing and take care not to allow liquids to get inside the housing at the rear or via the battery compartment.
Rear control panel
- Microphone
- LED indicator
- Volume control
- Speech / Off / Siren switch
- Battery compartment release button
Setting up
Before operating the L01R megaphone, it will be necessary to load it with 4 x
“C” cell batteries.
To access the rear battery compartment, press the battery compartment release
button (8) and the rear section of the megaphone will flip upwards to reveal
the battery holder.
Load in the C cell batteries with alternate polarities as shown in the diagram
below. Note the imprinted “+” and “-” symbols inside the compartment and
ensure that the correct polarities are observed. Fold-down the rear section to
cover the battery compartment until it clicks firmly shut.
Operation
Make sure that the handgrip is folded out fully and held firmly with the rear
panel facing toward the operator and the flare facing away. For added
security, place the loop strap around the wrist.
Adjust the volume control slider (3) to the center of its travel and slide the
Speech / Off / Siren switch (4) to the “Speech” position – the LED indicator
(2) will light to show that the megaphone is activated. Speak into the
microphone (1) and adjust the volume slider up or down to suit the output
level required.
When speech is finished, move the switch to the “Off” position, which also
preserves the battery. If an alert is required, moving this switch to the
“Siren” position will emit a loud sweeping pitch from the horn. Switching to
“Off” again stops the siren.
When not in use, place the megaphone face down (flare down) onto a flat
surface. Folding the handle away makes the megaphone more compact for storage
or transport. Remove the batteries if not being used for long periods.
