Install power in the vehicle

(two options – Direct Wire or OBD-II Power Cord)
Option A
OBD-II Power Cord

  1. Locate the OBD-II socket in your vehicle, the upper figure shows some popular places.

  2. Insert the OBD-II plug into the OBD-II socket firmly.
NOTE: The OBD-II connector fits only one way into the vehicle’s OBD-II socket, do not force the fit; observe correct orientation before applying force.

  3. Route the wire with a USB Type-C plug of the OBD-II Power Cord to the expected camera mounting location on the windshield.
NOTE: Leave an extra few inches of cord length near the camera to insert the Type-C plug into the Secure4K Dock, and also to make mounting and dismounting the camera easier.

  4. Secure any excess wire after the camera is mounted.

Option B
Direct Wire Power Cord

  1. Turn off the engine and the accessory power.

  2. Find the location and layout of your fuse box as well as the appropriate fuse type from the vehicle’s user manual.
    NOTE:
    a. Professional installation assistance at a qualified dealer is recommended if you are not familiar with identifying fuses in a vehicle and installing power system-related items.
    b. Please contact [email protected] for assistance with finding an approved dealer in your area if you are unsure of where to locate one yourself.

  3. Connect the red ACC wire to a switched fuse:
    a. A switched fuse is used to monitor the accessory power such as cigarette lighter, car radio, etc. They will be switched off after you turn off the car. Identify them by referring to the vehicle user manual or consulting a qualified professional. b. Verify the fuse is a switched fuse by using a multimeter to track voltage within the circuit across ignitions ON and OFF positions.
    c. If confirmed as a switched power fuse, remove the identified switched fuse from the fuse panel. Use the fuse puller tool is available.
    d. Remove the sleeve from the end of the red ACC wire, and wrap the wire around one of the blades of the switched fuse.
    e. Reinsert the fuse back into the fuse panel carefully and firmly to ensure the wire remains secured to the fuse blade.

  4. Connect the yellow BATT+ wire to a constant power fuse
    a. The constant power fuses are used to monitor constant power within a vehicle. They will not be switched off after you turn off the car. Identify them by referring to the vehicle manual or consulting a professional.
    b. Verify the fuse is a constant fuse by a multimeter to track voltage within the circuit across ignitions ON and OFF positions.
    c. If confirmed as a constant power fuse, remove the identified constant fuse from the fuse panel. Use the fuse puller tool is available.
    d. Remove the sleeve from the end of the yellow BATT+ wire and wrap the wire around one of the blades of the Constant Power fuse.
    e. Reinsert the fuse back into the fuse panel carefully and firmly to ensure the wire remains secured to the fuse blade.

  5. Connect the black GND wire to a chassis ground point, such as a bolt, that is directly touching a bare metal surface of the vehicle’s framework.

  6. Route the wire with a USB Type-C plug of the Direct Wire Power Cord to the expected camera mounting location on the windshield.
NOTE: Leave an extra few inches of cord length near the camera to insert the Type-C plug into the Secure4K Dock, and also to make mounting and dismounting the camera easier.

  7. Secure any excess wire after the camera is mounted.

Connect power to the Secure4K Dock

For optimal performance, please ensure the power cord is firmly and securely fitted into the USB Type-C Power Connection.

  1. Put the Type-C Power Cord into the Power Cord Locker. Remove the Locker’s gasket if necessary.
  2. Remove the Locker’s tape paper.
  3. Insert the Type-C plug into the camera Type-C socket. Push the Locker to ensure glued together with the camera dock.
  4. Seal with Tamp Tape.
  5. Turn on the engine, the status LED will illuminate blue and then turn red if an SD card is inserted.
Diagnostic with Waylens Fleet App

Waylens Fleet App has the diagnostic feature to ensure the power cord connection is right.

  1. Open the Waylens Fleet App and follow the prompts to connect to the Secure4K camera.
  2. If can’t find the Secure4K WiFi network, normally is a network with name as Waylens-xxxxx (DIRECT-Waylens-xxxxx if WiFi Direct is enabled), press Waylens Button to wake up the WiFi.
  3. Locate the diagnostic feature on the profile page(Skip Login) or Maintenance(Maintainer Login).
  4. After the diagnostic, view the live preview of the camera to assist the placement on the windshield.

Install and Calibrate the DMS camera

The DMS camera calibration process is to calibrate the DMS camera so that the DMS camera can detect the driver’s face and sightline so that the DMS camera can better detect and upload DMS events.

To calibrate the DMS camera, Waylens Fleet App should be used.

  1. Install the DMS camera in the recommended position as the picture shows.
  2. Make sure that the DMS camera is upright
  3. Input the information of the vehicle where the camera was installed.
  4. Adjust the camera position. There is a mask on the view of the DMS camera. The installer should keep adjusting the camera position to make the driver’s image fit in the mask. When the mask turned into green, the position of the DMS camera can be regarded as correct.
  5. Let the driver maintain the driving position and look forward, tap “Calib and Look Forward”. Wait for 3 seconds until “Calibration is done” is heard from the camera.
  6. Install and calibrate the DMS module
To install the DMS module, first, lose the Camera Mount Screw, make the Remote Camera Cable Socket appear.
Insert the DMS cable plug into the Socket, ensure the direction is right.
Put the cable into the Cable Holder to release the stress to the Cable socket/plug.
Insert and format the microSD card

To prolong the usage, the new microSD card will be automatically formatted when the first time it was inserted to Secure4K.
Do not remove the microSD card while the Secure4K is recording (the status LED illuminates red).

Waylens recommends using a high endurance microSD card (class 10 or higher MLC microSD card 32-256GB) designed for continuous recording situations. While other cards will work with the Secure4K, they are much more prone to card errors and failures.
Some Secure4K dock has an SD card cover to prevent unauthorized access to the microSD card. In that case please first lose the screw and the camera body.

You’re all set!

Removing the Secure4K

  1. Stop the Secure4K if it’s recording by pressing Waylen’s Button on the Dock or turning monitoring off by fleet managers via API.
  2. Slide the Secure4K Dock to the left and carefully pull the camera away from the Mount Plateonce you feel it release from the locking tabs.
  3. Remove the power connection from the rear of the camera.

Secure4K SIM Card

Secure4K has a pre-installed SIM card. Please do not remove the pre-installed SIM card.
If finding that the SIM card is not activated, please contact the fleet manager to activate the SIM card.
