With an aperture range from f/2.5 to f/22, the Soft Focus II optic from Lensbaby is a new-and-improved version of one of the earliest and, recently, most sought-after optics in Lensbaby’s Optic Swap System, the original Soft Focus optic. Compatible with all of Lensbaby’s current and legacy Optic Swap lens bodies, the Soft Focus II improves on its predecessor by adding a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system.
When shot at its brightest aperture settings, the Soft Focus II creates an impressionistic image with subtle sharp detail beneath. Rendering a color palette tending toward soft pastels at brighter apertures and producing a remarkably flat field of focus, this optic makes possible images that are impossible to achieve with any other lens. Stopped down to f/8 or darker, the Soft Focus II produces beautifully detailed, traditionally sharp images with a large central area of focus and out-of-focus edges on full-frame sensors and 35mm film. Quick variability of the optical effect from impressionistic and full of glow to contrasty and sharp is made possible by the internal 12-blade aperture that is adjusted by turning the front of the optic.

- Lensbaby’s Soft Focus II lens is a manual focus lens. Adjust your camera’s diopter for your eyesight to ensure that what looks sharp through the lens is sharp in your photo. For instructions, consult your camera’s manual or visit lensbaby.com/diopter.
- Set camera mode. Adjust camera menu settings to shoot or release without a lens.
- Adjust aperture
- Aperture determines the size of your area of focus and the amount of swirl in the blur. For the most dramatic effect, start at an aperture setting of f/2.5.
