This device is intended for use with Resideo control panels that support 5800
series devices. Check the control for compatibility with this device.
NOTE: This device must be installed by a qualified technician.
FEATURES
- 10-year life Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensor
- CO Detector End-of-Life reporting (detector needs replacing)
- Low Battery Detection
See Installation Instructions (R800-26839) – www.resideo.com and the Limitations of Carbon Monoxide Detectors (P/N K14670V1).
LED Indicators
The 5800COV CO detector features a multi-color top LED:
Green = Supervisory indication; blinks during power on, reset, and during
normal operation
Amber = Signal maintenance and trouble events
Red = CO Alarm condition
Side LED windows to indicate alarms:
Blue = CO alarm
The carbon monoxide alarming circuit of this device is designed to detect
carbon monoxide gas from ANY source of combustion. The carbon monoxide
alarming circuit of this device is NOT designed to detect smoke, fire, or any
other gases.
WARNING: This product is intended for use in ordinary indoor residential
areas. It is not designed to measure compliance with commercial and industrial
standards.
POWER UP
- Remove the battery pull tab. Be sure the battery is seated properly to avoid a low battery condition after 15 seconds.
- Upon power-up, Green LED Blinks every 2 seconds / Sounder is Silent.
ENROLLING
The detector must be enrolled in the control panel before it can operate in the system. Alarms and trouble conditions from the detector are reported on one protection zone, which is programmed as carbon monoxide zone type (zone type 14 for Resideo residential controls).
-
Enter the control’s Zone Programming mode.
-
Enter the alarm zone number to be programmed.
-
Enter the applicable zone type when prompted.
-
When prompted, enter Input Type 03 (3 on some controls) – Supervised RF Transmitter.
-
When prompted for the serial number, do the following:
a. Remove the detector from its base (rotate the detector counter-clockwise on the base until it snaps open).
NOTE: Detector must be removed from its base to enroll.
b. Press the detector’s CO TEST/HUSH button twice (for each press, hold the button down for several secs).
c. Reinstall the detector onto its base (twist the detector clockwise until it snaps into place).
d. Check that the detector is enrolled as loop 1. -
If End-of-Life monitoring is desired:
VISTA-15P/20P, LYNX Touch, and Lyric – automatically sent
VISTA-128/250 Series – program a separate zone for the CO serial number.
Loop 2 = Zone Type (Choose a zone type based on the desired operation i.e.; 24 hr Trouble or Auxiliary)
Input Type = 03 (Supervised)
Zone | Device Type | Zone Response Type |
---|---|---|
CO Det. | Carbon Mono. Det. | Carbon Monoxide |
- Exit Programming mode when programming is complete, and test the detector. Refer to the Testing Section of this document.
Refer to the control panel’s installation instructions for additional information.
TO SILENCE THE DETECTOR
Press the CO TEST/HUSH button. The detector sounds again after 5 minutes if
the alarm condition continues.
Note: The detector cannot be silenced if the CO concentration exceeds
350ppm.
MOUNTING
After enrolling and before mounting permanently, conduct a Go/No Go test
(refer to the control panel
instructions) to verify adequate signal strength with the device in its
intended mounting location. Adjust the device location and orientation as
necessary. Refer to the Installation Guide (R800-26839) for full mounting
instructions.
NOTE: This device should not be located within 5 ft (1.5 m) of any

FUNCTIONAL TESTING
CANNED CO NOTE: Detector sounds an alarm when using canned CO only when
in Functional Test mode (canned CO does not cause alarm sounding when in
normal mode).
The product must be tested at least once each year
- Use UL/ANSI Approved canned CO.
PERIODIC CLEANING
NOTE: Notify the proper authorities that the CO detector is undergoing maintenance and the system will temporarily be out of service.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
