USE
POSITIONING
For best composting, assemble the product correctly and put it in shadowed
place with a good circulation of air. It is important to place the product
directly on the ground. A grille can be put underneath the product if
necessary. Correct positioning ensures that surplus liquid is drained and that
worms and microorganisms get access to the compost.
SUITABLE MATERIAL FOR COMPOSTING
Organic waste from the kitchen and garden, such as green plants, garden waste,
sawdust, leaves, needles, cork, fallen fruit, flowers, weeds without seeds,
old ash. Grass cuttings should be mixed with other waste, otherwise, the
contents in the compost can rot.
PREPARATIONS
Cover the bottom of the compost with thin branches, so that surplus liquid can
drain from the upper layer of the compost. The compost should have a variety
of materials, well spread out and well mixed. Do not pack the material in the
compost, this will slow down decomposition. It is recommended to turn over the
top layer of the compost every few weeks. It is important for the composting
process that the compost has the correct moisture content. In dry weather the
compost can need watering, and in wet weather it may need to be covered.
READY COMPOST
Depending on the conditions (temperature, moisture, composition), the compost
should be ready in 8 weeks to 1 year. The ready compost has a compact and
moisture-absorbent texture that resembles soil or peat.
USING READY COMPOST
Compost is a natural fertiliser that can be used in many places in the garden.
A thin layer of compost can be spread on the lawn. Ready compost can also be
used round trees and bushes.
