OPERATION

CAUTION! During operation, a stone or root may become lodged in the Tines, or tall grass or weeds may become wrapped around the tine shaft.
To clear the tines or tine shaft, release the Trigger Lever, wait for the Tines to come to a complete stop and unplug the Tiller.
Wearing suitable safety gloves carefully dislodge or remove the foreign matter from the Tines or Tine Shaft.
To simplify removal of tall grass or weeds from the Tine Shaft, remove one or more of the Tines.

IMPORTANT: Move the Tiller to the work area prior to starting the motor.

Use the Tiller for breaking soil, preparing seed beds, and for cultivating gardens and flower beds. The Tiller can also dig small holes for planting saplings or potted plants.

NOTE: For breaking sod or deep tilling, allow the Tines to pull the Tiller forward to the end of your arm’s reach, then firmly pull it back towards yourself. Best results will be achieved by repeatedly allowing the Tiller to move forward and pulling it back.

CAUTION: By pulling the Tiller back towards yourself, the Tines will dig deeper and more aggressively. To prevent tripping, take extra precautions when moving backwards and when pulling the Tiller back towards yourself.

NOTE: If the Tiller digs deep enough to stay in one spot, gently rock it from side to side until it starts to move forward again.

CAUTION: When working on inclines, always stand diagonally to the inclines to retain a firm, safe footing. Do not work on extremely steep slopes.

WARNING! Never pass the Tiller over the extension cord. Make sure the cord is always in a safe position behind you.

For preparing seed beds, we recommend using one of the following tilling patterns.

CAUTION: Before moving the Tiller from one area to another, switch off the motor and wait for the Tines to come to a complete stop. Be careful not to let the Tines touch the ground whilst moving the Tiller.

The Tines, as well as the unit itself, may be damaged even if the motor is switched off.

To stop the Tiller, simply release the Trigger Lever.

WARNING! Ensure the Label “FRONT” is pointing away from your body.

TILLING PATTERN

Pattern A: Make two passes over the area to be tilled, the second at a right angle to the first.
TILLING PATTERN

Pattern B: Make two passes over the area to be tilled, the second overlapping the first.

WORKING POSITION

Maintain a safe distance.

MAINTENANCE

Before each use, check the extension cord for signs of damage or aging.

Do not use if the cable if it is cracked, split or otherwise damaged.

Check the condition of the Tines (8) and ensure that all threaded connections are securely tightened. If the Tines become dull or blunt, sharpen or replace them.

Always clean the Tiller after each use. Failure to carry  out proper cleaning can result in damage to the Tiller or result in poor performance.

Clean the Motor Housing (6) around the Tines using a scrubbing brush and a soft cloth dampened with a mild soap and water mixture.

Clean the vents on the Motor Housing and remove any remaining grass or dirt.

To remove soil and debris from the transmission and Tines, use a stiff brush or a dampened cloth.

WARNING! Never use a water hose to clean the Tiller.

Once cleaned, wipe the Tines and Tine Shaft dry and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.

Once per season, lubricate the Tines and Tine Shaft. At the end of the season, check the Tiller for damage prior to storing.

Repair or replace damaged or broken parts.

REMOVING

WARNING! Injury can occur while working on the Tines.
Always wear protective gloves.

Worn Tines can cause poor performance and could lead to the motor being overloaded.

Check the Tines before each use. Sharpen or replace the Tine assemblies with new ones when necessary.

To remove the complete Tine Assembly from the Tine Shaft, remove the M8x40 Hex Bolts and Nuts.

ADDING TRANSMISSION LUBRICANT

Remove the Tine Assemblies to allow better access to the Drain Screw Plug.

The Drain Screw Plug (10) is located on the right side of Motor Housing.

Lay the Tiller on its left side and clean the transmission of dirt and debris prior to removing the Drain Screw Plug.

Use a 8mm hex hey to unscrew the Drain Screw Plug.

Empty the oil from the transmission into a suitable container and dispose of correctly.

Fill with a high quality SAE 30 weight oil (not supplied), until it begins to seep out around the hole.

From empty, approximately 60ml of oil will fill the unit.

Reinstall the Drain Screw Plug and ensure it is secure.
