SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING:
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not use to vacuum combustible explosive materials, such as coal, grain, or other finely divided combustible materials.
- Do not use to vacuum hazardous, toxic, or carcinogenic materials, such as asbestos or pesticide.
- Never pick up explosive liquids (e.g. gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, paint thinner, etc.), acids, or solvents.
- Do not use a vacuum without filters in place.
- Some wood contains preservatives that can be toxic. Take extra care to prevent inhalation and skin contact when working with these materials. Request and follow any safety information available from the material supplier.
- Do not use a vacuum as a step ladder.
- Do not place heavy objects in the vacuum.
- An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable, that is 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. When using more than one extension to make up the total length, be sure each individual extension cord contains at least the minimum wire size. The following table shows the correct size to use. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.
- If an extension cord is to be used outdoors it must be marked with the suffix W-A or W following the cord type designation. For example – SJTW-A indicates it is acceptable for outdoor use.

precautions when operating this appliance. The secondary insulation system is
for protection against injury resulting from a possible failure of the primary
insulation within the product.
CAUTION: WHEN SERVICING USE ONLY IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT PARTS. Repair or
replace damaged cords.
POLARIZED PLUGS
Polarized plugs (one blade is wider than the other) are used on equipment to
reduce the risk of electric shock. When provided, this plug will fit in the
polarized outlet only one way.
WARNING: Do not alter the plug in any way. If the plug does not fit fully
in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician to install the proper outlet.
WARNING: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to
avoid a hazard. Remove the plug from the socket before performing maintenance.
Before using the machine make sure that the frequency and voltage shown on the
rating plate correspond with the mains voltage. Specifications and details are
subject to change without prior notice. The accessories shown in the pictures
may vary from model to model.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or explosion, do not operate this
vacuum in areas with flammable gases, vapors, or explosive dust in the air.
Flammable gases or vapors include but are not limited to: lighter fluid,
solvent-type cleaners, oil-based paints, gasoline, alcohol, or aerosol sprays.
Explosive dust includes but is not limited to coal, magnesium, aluminum, and
grain or gun powder. Do not vacuum explosive dust, flammable or combustible
liquids, or hot ashes. Do not use this vacuum as a sprayer for any flammable or
combustible liquid. To reduce the risk of health hazards from vapors or dust,
do not vacuum toxic materials.
WARNING: The operation of any utility vacuum can result in foreign objects
being blown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear
safety eyewear complying with ANSI Z87.1 (or in Canada, CSA Z94.3) before
starting operation.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of hearing damage, wear ear protectors when
using the vacuum for extended hours or when using it in a noisy area.
DRY PICK-UP
- The filter must always be in the correct position to reduce the risk of leaks and possible damage to the vac. Make sure that the filter is completely covering the cartridge filter. 14 Make sure there are no gaps between the cartridge filter 14 and the lid. (See illustration). It is very important to assemble the filter to the cage without allowing any possible leaks or tears. Any leaks will allow the picked-up debris to be blown out of the blowing port and back into the surrounding environment.
- When using the vacuum to pick up fine dust, it will be necessary to empty the dust tank and clean or replace the cartridge filter 14 at more frequent intervals to maintain peak vacuum performance.
NOTICE: A dry cartridge filter is necessary to pick up dry material. If you use the vacuum to pick up dust when the cartridge filter is wet, the cartridge filter will clog quickly and be very difficult to clean. If the cartridge filter gets wet, replace it before continuing to do dry pickups.
INSTALLING DISPOSABLE FILTER BAG
- Slide the cardboard collar opening firmly onto the vacuum port deflector until it stops against the deflector wall.
- Position the disposable dust bag 11 so that it is distributed around the inside of the tank.
- Replace and secure the powerhead onto the tank.
WET PICK-UP
- Remove the cartridge filter and replace it with foam filter 12 when you do wet pickups.
- This wet/dry vac is equipped with a float 14 mechanism that will rise automatically to cut off the airflow when the liquid in the tank reaches a predetermined level. When
this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the dust tank. You will know that the float has shut the airflow off because the suction ceases and|
the motor noise becomes higher in pitch due to increased motor speed. The liquid capacity may vary with the rate of pickup.
NOTICE : To reduce the risk of damage to the vacuum, do not run the motor with float in the raised position.
EMPTYING THE TANK
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury from accidental starting, unplug the power cord before emptying the dust tank.
- Remove the powerhead assembly of the wet/dry vacuum by pulling outward on the lid clips located 3 on each side of the vacuum. Lift off the powerhead assembly.
Dump the dust tank 5 contents into the proper waste disposal container.
BLOWING OPERATION
WARNING: Always wear safety eyewear complying with ANSI Z87.1 (or in
Canada CSA Z94.3) when using it as a blower.
WARNING: To avoid injury to bystanders, keep them clear of blowing debris.
CAUTION: Wear a dust mask if blowing creates dust that might be inhaled.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of hearing damage, wear ear protection when
using the vacuum/blower 15 for extended hours or in confined space.
The vacuum contains a blowing feature. Follow the steps below to use the
vacuum as a blower 15.
1 . Locate the blowing port 15 on the vacuum.
2 . Insert the buckle end of the 7 ft x 1-7/8 in / 2.1 m x 48 mm hose 7
into the blower port.
3 . Turn the vacuum “ON”.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
FILTER REPLACEMENT
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury from accidental starting, unplug
the power cord before changing or cleaning the filter. The filter should be
cleaned often to maintain peak Vacuum performance.
WARNING: Do not remove the filter cage and float. The float prevents water
from entering the impeller and damaging the motor. The cage prevents fingers
from touching the moving impeller.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to the impeller and motor, always reinstall the
reusable filter before using the vacuum for dry pickups and always reinstall
the foam filter before using the vacuum for wet pickups.
CAUTION: After cleaning, check the filter for tears or small holes. Do not
use a filter with holes or tears in it. Even a small hole can cause dust to
come out of the vacuum. Replace it immediately.
CAUTION: Clean the filter in an open area.
CLEANING
To keep the wet/dry vacuum looking its best, clean the outside with a cloth
dampened with warm water and mild soap.
To clean the tank:
- Dump out debris.
- Wash the tank thoroughly with warm water and mild soap.
- Wipe out with a dry cloth.
STORAGE
Before storing the vacuum, the dust tank should be emptied and cleaned. The cord should be wrapped and hung on the unit and the accessories should be kept in the accessory holder so they can be readily available. The vacuum should be stored indoors.
