Introduction
The Byron Statics KCS-315 is a cassette player and FM AM portable Walkman. It comes with a number of features such as built-in speaker. It has a voice activation system which makes sure that the recordings have audio. Another feature is the automatic stop system. This protects the old classical cassette tape. The player is light-weight and compact. It is powered using 2 AA batteries or by a micro-USB cable. It comes with a number of buttons dedicated to perform operations such as play, stop, rewind, fast forward, recording, volume adjusting, etc.

POWER SOURCE
This Cassette Player operates on 2 ‘AA’ (UM-3) batteries or use a USB power
supply.
Note: Battery and USB cable not included.
**BATTERY OPERATION
**
For better performance and longer operating time, we recommend the use of alkaline-type batteries.

Open the BATTERY DOOR by sliding downwards and hinging upwards.

Following the polarity diagram on the back cabinet, insert 2 ‘AA’ (UM-3) batteries and close the BATTERY DOOR.
IMPORTANT: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit. -
(a) DO not mix old and new batteries.
(b) Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries. -
If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Old or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.

DO not dispose of batteries in fire, batteries may leak or explode.
USB POWER SUPPLY
- If you are using USB power, we recommend that you remove any batteries first.
- Insert a micro-USB cable (not supplied) into the USB port on the device and use a suitable USB power supply.
- lease remove any batteries from the unit if unit will not be used for a period of time.
RADIO OPERATION
- Put on your earphones and insert the plug of your earphones into the EARPHONE JACK.
- Switch the FUNCTION SELECTOR to “RADIO”.
- Switch the BAND SELECTOR to “AM” or “FM” for the desired band.
- Turn the TUNING KNOB to select the desired radio station.
- Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to obtain the desired sound level.
- To turn the radio off, switch the FUNCTION SELECTOR to “TAPE”.
TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION
The earphone cord works as an external FM antenna. To insure maximum FM
tuner sensitivity, always keep the earphone cord fully extended. Do not wind
or fold the earphone cord while listening to the radio. When tuning in AM
reception. be sure to place the unit in a vertical position. For maximum AM
sensitivity, keep turning the unit slowly while keeping it vertical until the
best reception is obtained.
CASSETTE PLAYER OPERATION
- Put on your earphones and insert the plug of your earphones into the EARPHONE JACK.
- Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to “TAPE” if required.
- Open the CASSETTE DOOR and insert a pre-recorded cassette tape with the exposed tape facing upwards then Push O position on cassette door to close the cassette door
- Press the PLAY BUTTON and adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to obtain the desired sound level.
- Press the F. FWD BUTTON when you wish to rapidly advance the tape.
- Press the STOP BUTTON to switch off.
STANDBY SETTING
In order to preserve the battery life for as long as possible it is
recommended you set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE position when the unit is
not in use.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
- For safety, it is recommended that the headphones not be worn while on road traffic.
- Keep the volume set to a comfortable listening level as excess loudness could damage the user’s hearing.
RECORDING OPERATION
- Open the cassette door and insert a blank tape into the cassette case, before recording the music or conversation, please check the bottom of cassette tape both side A or B it must have two •Recording Lip- as shown below:
- Then push O position on the cassette door to Close the cassette door and select your favorite music and program from the radio or from the Mic, Adjust the volume level to suitable level or Max., press the “REC” button(ln RED color) start to record
- You can monitor the recording process through your headphone or speaker,
- Press the “STOP” button to stop the record function.
- To listen to the recorded program, you can press the F.BWO button to rewind the tape and press the PLAY button to replay the recorded program.
- TO prevent your recorded program from being erased you can take out the RECORDING LIP. AUTOMATIC STOP TO protect your cassette tapes and prevent unnecessary wear to the pinch roller of the cassette mechanism, this un is equipped with an Automatic Stop System. When the tap ends during player fast forwarding, the PLAY BUTTON will automatically release to stop the cassette from running.
CASSETTE TAPE OPERATING TIPS
- High quality tapes are recommended to obtain maximum quality reproduction from recordings.
- Use 60mins cassette for optimum performance,
- TO obtain good reproduction, the head should be cleaned after every 10 to 20 hours of use It is also recommended that the cassette be kept away from excessive heat or cold.
- If there is slack in the tape. remove the slack prior to inserting the cassette to remove the slack. insert a pencil into the hub and rotate clockwise as shown below.
- A leader tape is provided at the beginning on each cassette. There is no recording on this area, so it is necessary to let the tape run for about five seconds to clear the head.
- Keep the tape head clean since a dirty head can cause distorted sound or improper tape speed. Depress the PLAY BUTTON and use a small cotton swab with tape head cleaner or alcohol to clean the tape head. capstan and pinch roller as shown below:

- Keep the volume at a reasonable level even if your headset is an open-air type designed to allow you to hear outside sounds Please note excessively high volume may still block outside sounds.
