Information about the device

Device description
The oil-filled radiator TRH 27 E is used to generate warm air for interior spaces.
The TRH 27 E comes with 3 power levels of up to 2,500 W.
The heat electrically generated by the heating elements within the device is absorbed by the heating medium oil. The heating medium oil offers the advantages of quick heat-up and long-term heat storage capacity. On these grounds the heating medium oil can guarantee a continuous heat emission. The radiator’s 11 fins increase the heat radiating surface and so enhance its effectiveness.
The device is further equipped with an overheating protection and a tilt protection.

Operating elements

No. Designation
5 power level flip switch 1300 W (together with flip switch 7 = 2500 W)

Switch power level on and off
6| Rotary switch of the room thermostat
7| power level flip switch 1200 W (together with flip switch 5 = 2500 W) Switch power level on and off

Switching the device on

  1. Plug the device into a sufficiently fused socket.
  2. Set the power level flip switch (5 or 7) to I to select the desired performance.
ð You can actuate one flip switch to activate
    the 1200 W (7) or 1300 W (5) power level, or both for the 2500 W maximum power level.
ð If the power level flip switch (5 or 7) is in position I, the flip switch is illuminated.

Setting the room thermostat

  1. Select the desired temperature level via the infinitely variable rotary switch of the room thermostat (6).
ð The heating switches off automatically upon reaching the set temperature. If the temperature falls below the set temperature, the heating switches back on.

To find the ideal thermostat setting, please proceed as follows:

  1. Set the rotary switch of the room thermostat (6) to the highest level.
ð As soon as the desired temperature has been reached, slowly turn the rotary switch of the room thermostat back until the power level flip switch (5 and 7) is no longer illuminated.
ð The device now automatically maintains the desired temperature level.

Automatic temperature control via the room thermostat

  • Upon reaching the maximum operating temperature of the heating medium in performance level 3 the device reduces its performance to level 2.
  • When falling below the maximum operating temperature of the heating medium in performance level 3, the heating will automatically switch back over to level 3.
  • When the device is set to performance level 1 or performance level 2, the operating temperature of the heating medium will not be controlled automatically. Upon reaching the preselected room temperature, the device switches off completely.

Frost monitor function
The device is equipped with a frost monitor function that prevents the room temperature from falling below the frost protection temperature. Please proceed as follows to activate the frost monitor function:

  1. Set the power level flip switch (7) to position I.
ð The power level flip switch (7) is illuminated.

  2. Turn the infinitely variable rotary switch of the room thermostat (6) to the – position.
ð In this position, the room thermostat switches on the heating automatically if the room temperature drops below the frost protection temperature.

Shutdown

Warning of electrical voltage
Do not touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands.

  1. Switch off the device by setting the power level flip switch (5) and the power level flip switch (7) to the 0 position.
  2. Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable out of the mains socket.
  3. Allow the device to cool down sufficiently.
  4. Clean the device according to the Maintenance chapter.
  5. Store the device according to the Storage chapter.

Errors and faults

Warning of electrical voltage
Tasks which require the device to be opened must only be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by Trotec.

The device has been checked for proper functioning several times during production. If malfunctions occur nonetheless, check the device according to the following list.
The device makes noises after switch-on:

  • The heating medium oil expands due to heating. This is what causes the noise. It is a perfectly normal process. No measures are required.

The device does not start:

  • Check the power connection.
  • Check the power cable and mains plug for damages.
  • Check the on-site fusing.
  • Check the room temperature. The room thermostat may have switched off, because the desired room temperature has been reached.
  • Check whether the device is standing upright and on level ground. The tilt protection may have been tripped owing to the fact that the device was knocked over. Always put up the device in an upright position on a suitable, sufficiently dimensioned surface.
  • The room thermostat might be defective. Have a defective room thermostat replaced by a specialist electrical company.
  • Check whether the overheating protection has tripped (see chapter Safety).
  • Wait for 10 minutes before restarting the device. If the device is not starting, have the electrics checked by a specialist company or by Trotec.

The device is switched on, but the heating is not operating:

  • Check the room temperature. The room thermostat may have switched off, because the desired room temperature has been reached.
  • Check whether the overheating protection has tripped (see chapter Safety).
  • The heating resistor might have blown. Have a defective heating resistor replaced by a specialist electrical company.
  • The room thermostat might be defective. Have a defective room thermostat replaced by a specialist electrical company.

Note
Wait for at least 10 minutes after maintenance and repair work. Only then switch the device back on.

The device still does not operate correctly after these checks:
Please contact the customer service. If necessary, bring the device to an authorised specialist electrical company or to Trotec for repair.
