This clock uses Emerson’s patented Smarts et® Automatic Time Setting System. The first time you connect this clock to your AC outlet, and after every power interruption, within seconds the clock will automatically set Itself to the correct Year, Month, Date, Day, and Time. In addition, all changes from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time, and back to Standard TI me, are made automatically. There are dual alarms that can be set and used independently, and both of the alarms can be programmed for everyday operation, weekdays only, or weekends only. There is a long life lithium battery installed in this clock when you buy it. This battery can maintain the time and alarm settings for 1 lo 2 years, or even longer. We have taken every precaution to make sure this clock was in perfect working order when it left our factory.

Preparation For Use

  • Remove the clock from the carton and remove all packing material from the clock. Sava the packing material, if possible in case the clock ever needs to be serviced or transported. The original carton and packing material is the only Safeway to pack your clock to protect it from damage in transit.
  • Remove any descriptive labels, stickers or protective films on the front or top of the cabinet, if any.
  • Do not remove any labels or slickers from the back or bottom of the cabinet.
  • Note the serial number on the bottom of your clock and write this number in the space provided on the Warranty page of this manual.
  • Place your clock on a level surface such as a table, desk or shelf, convenient to an AC outlet, out of direct sunlight, and away from sources of excess heat, dirt, dust, moisture, humidity, or vibration.
  • Unwind the antenna wire and extend it fully.
Protect Your Furniture

This model is equipped with non-skid rubber ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non-migrating rubber
materiel specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture polishes, wood preservatives .or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber ‘feet’ to soften, and leave marks or rubber residue on the furniture. To prevent any damage to your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self adhesive felt pads, available at hardware stores and home Improvement centers everywhere, and apply these pads to the bottom of the rubber ‘feet’ before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.

Power Source

This clock is designed to operate on normal 120V 60HzAC power only. Do not attempt to operate the clock on any other power source. You could cause damage to the clock that is not covered by your warranty. This clock should be connected lo an AC outlet that is always ‘live’. Do not connect ii to an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch. When the power lo the clock is interrupted, the built in lithium battery takes over to maintain the lime and alarm settings.
To maximize the life of the lithium battery keep the clock connected to a ‘live’ AC outlet at all times.

Setting the Time Zone

Initial Default Setting at Clock Mode

IMPORTANT: The first time you connect your new Smart Set clock to the AC outlet the internal computer will automatically set the time correctly for the Eastern Time Zone, which is the initial default setting. The display will scan for a few seconds and than show the correct Day and Time in the Eastern zone. If you live in the Eastern Time zone, nothing else to do. Your clock is set correctly and running. If you do not live in !fie Eastern Time zone you must change the default zone display to your own zone. You only do t his one time and the Smart Set• will remember the new default time zone setting and will always return to that setting after power interruption.
There are 7 time zones programmed into your Smart Set clock as follows:

  • ZONE 1 – Atlantic time
  • ZONE 2 – Eastern time (Default Setting)
  • ZONE 3 – Central Time
  • ZONE 4 – Mountain Time
  • ZONE 5 – Pacific Time
  • ZONE 6 – Yukon (Alaska)
  • ZONE 7 – Hawaii

To view the currant zone number, press the TIME ZONE button briefly a nd then release.

To change default time zone, press and hold the TIME ZONE button, and than press and hold button briefly until your desired lime zone appears on the display, then release all the buttons.
Note: Time zone and clock settings can only be adjusted in Standby mode, where where the function of Radio, Bluetooth and AUX are disabled (i.e. indicator of MHz, BT and AUX are off)

SETTING THE CLOCK MANUALLY

Checking the Current Year-Date-Day of Weak-Time Settings Press briefly the CLOCK SET button repeatedly to see the cycle of year, date, day of week and time. To restore lime display mode, leave ii idle for 3 secs.

Setting the Year
  1. Press and hold the CLOCK SET button until the Year ‘Flashes’, then release the button;
  2. Press the up and down button to adjust Year;
Setting the Data
  1. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Data ‘Flashes’;
  2. Press the left or right button to adjust the Date;
  3. Press the up and down button to adjust the Month;
Setting the Time
  1. Press the CLOCK SET button again and release, the Hour ‘Flashes’;
  2. Press the left or right button to adjust the Hour(where AM indicator ‘On’ is AM, ‘Off’ is PM):
  3. Press the left or right button to adjust the Minutes;
  4. Press the CLOCK SET button again, or leave.
    It Idle for few seconds, to store all new settings and restore It to time display mode.

Day Light Saving and Leap Year Adjustment

All Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Leap Year adjustment are made automatically by the Smart Set internal computer as follows:

Start of Daylight Saving time:
At 2 :00AM on the 2nd Sunday in March. the clock will automatically advance to 3:00AM

End of Day light Saving time:
Al 3:00AM on the 1st Sunday in November, the clock will automatically reset
to 2:00AM

Turn Daylight Saving Function Off/ On (in standby mode only):
Daylight Saving Time is NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and in, most of Arizona, with exception of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. If you do not want the clock to adjust it self automatically according to Daylight Saving Time, you can disable ii by pressing and holding the LED button for 5 secs, the display will show DST start date of current year, which means the auto Daylight Saving Time is enabled (‘On’ by default). Press either the up or right button to toggle this DST start dale between ‘OFF’ and ‘On’. Press the LED button again lo display the DST end date of current year, which can be disabled by pressing either the button to toggle this DST end date between ‘OFF’ and ‘On’. Press the LED button briefly or leave ii idle for 5 secs to save the new settings and resume to clock mode.

Leap Year:
Al 12:00 Midnight on February 28th, the calendar display will change1D”2.29”.

Setting The Alarm

IMPORTANT:
Alarm settings can be adjusted in Standby mode only.
Your clock radio has two separate alarmaAlarm1 (AL1) and Alarm2 (AL2) that can be set end used independently. You may use the alarms to wake two persons at different times, or you may use one alarm for weekdays and the other one for weekends. Please ensure that you have set the wake up time and alarm week mode correctly.
Adjusting the Waka Up Time and Alarm Volume for Radio/Buzzer Alarm
The procedure for adjusting the wake up time is the same for both Alarm1 and Alarm 2.

  • Press and hold either the AL 1 or AL2 button until the display blinker and change from the current time to theAlarm1 orAlarm2 wake uptime.
  • Release the AL 1 (AL2) button, press the left or right button to adjust Hour, press the up or down button to adjust Minutes.
  • Press the AL 1 (AL2) button briefly, alarm volume level will display (default level V08). Press the VOL-or VOL+ button to eat the deal red alarm volume level from V01 lo VI 5 that you wish to hear when the alarm comas On gradually.
  • Press the Tune-or Tune +- button repeatedly to select the desired Alarm Week mode if necessary.
  • Press the AL 1 (AL2) button again to store the alarm setting.

Note: Be sure that you have set the wake up time correctly by observing the AM indicator. If the AM indicator is ‘On’ the wake up time is “AM”. If it is ‘Off’. the wake up time is “PM”.
