APEX Data Storage Migration Planning
Be sure to consider migration planning when working with the APEX Data Storage
Services (ADSS) platform.
Migration planning is important to ensure that the ADSS platform remains
available and no additional charges are incurred during the migration. ADSS
provides industry-leading compression and during normal operations compresses
data as it is ingested.
By design, if compression impacts performance, data is written uncompressed
and marked for compression later. As a result, if many data sources are
feeding data to the system, the compression algorithms may not keep up with
the ingestion rate.
If there is insufficient capacity to house the uncompressed data, the system
may go into a read-only state. Also, you may incur additional charges if you
exceed your subscription size.
Migrating data may happen at any point throughout the life of the system.
However, it is most likely that a compression issue may occur during an early-
stage migration when the array is empty. It is unlikely to be a part of the
time-to-value (TTV) deployment.
