General notes
Dear Customer,

initial operation of your appliance and store them for later use or subsequent
owners.
Proper use
This appliance has been designed for use in private households and is not
intended for commercial use.
– By purchasing this appliance you have become the owner of a spray extraction
appliance for maintenance or basic cleaning of carpeting with a deep cleaning
effect.
– With a hard surface insert for the spray-ex floor nozzle (in the scope of
delivery) even hard surfaces can be cleaned.
– With the relevant accessories (in the scope of delivery) it can also be used
as a multi-purpose vacuum cleaner.
Environmental protection
The packaging material can be recycled. Please do not place the packaging into
the ordinary refuse for disposal, but arrange for the proper recycling.

arrange for the proper recycling of old appliances. Please dispose of your old
appliances using appropriate collection systems. Electrical and electronic
devices often contain components that could potentially pose a danger to human

Always use original spare parts and accessories permitted by the manufacturer
so that the safety of the machine remains intact. You can procure the spare
parts and the attachments from your dealer or your KÄRCHER branch office. (See

Warranty
The terms of the guarantee applicable in each country have been published by
our respective national distributors. We will repair possible faults on your
unit free of charge within the warranty period, insofar as the faults are
caused by material defects or defective workmanship. Guarantee claims should
be addressed to your dealer or the nearest authorized customer service center,
and supported by documentary evidence of purchase.
Safety instructions
Apart from the notes contained herein the general safety provisions and rules for the prevention of accidents of the legislator must be observed. Any use of the machine in contravention with the following instructions will lead to warranty claims being rendered void.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capacities or lacking experience and/or skills unless such persons are accompanied and supervised by a person in charge of their safety or they have received precise instructions on the use of this appliance and have understood the resulting risks.

Children must not play with this appliance.

Supervise children to prevent them from playing with the appliance.

Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.

Keep packaging film away from children – the risk of suffocation!

Switch the appliance off after every use and prior to every cleaning/maintenance procedure.

The appliance must provide stable ground.

The operator must use the appliance properly. He must consider the local conditions and must pay attention to third parties, in particular children, when working with the appliance.

Check the faultless condition of the appliance and the accessories before using it. Otherwise, the appliance must not be used.

Never dip the machine, the cable, or the plugs in water or other liquids.

It is not allowed to use the appliance in hazardous locations. If the appliance is used in hazardous areas the corresponding safety provisions must be observed.

Protect the appliance against external weather, humidity and heat sources.

Should the appliance fall down, it must be checked by an authorized after-sales service as internal disturbances could be present, which constrain the safety of the product.

Do not suck in toxic substances.

Do not use the machine to vacuum clean plaster of Paris, cement, etc. which can harden on coming into contact with water and can thus hamper the functioning of the machine.

Always place the machine in a horizontal position during operation.

Only use cleaners recommended by the manufacturer and comply with their application, disposal, and warning guidelines.
DANGER -
Only connect the appliance to properly earthed sockets.

The appliance may only be connected to an alternating current. The voltage must correspond with the type plate on the appliance.

Never touch the mains plug and the socket with wet hands.
-
Do not pull the plug from the socket by pulling on the connecting cable.

Check the power cord with the mains plug for damage before every use. To avoid risks, arrange immediately the exchange by authorized customer service or a skilled electrician if the power cord is damaged.

To avoid accidents due to electrical faults we recommend the use of sockets with a line-side current-limiting circuit breaker (max. 30 mA nominal tripping current).

Only use a splashproof extension cable with a minimum section of 3×1 mm².

If couplings of the power cord or extension cable are replaced the splash protection and the mechanical tightness must be ensured.

Please switch off the machine first using the main switch before disconnecting the machine from the mains.
WARNING
Certain materials may produce explosive vapors or mixtures when agitated by the suction air! Never vacuum up the following materials:
- Explosive or combustible gases, liquids, and dust particles (reactive dust particles)
- Reactive metal dust particles (such as aluminum, magnesium, and zinc) in combination with highly alkaline or acidic detergents
- Undiluted, strong acids and alkalies
- Organic solvents (such as petrol, paint thinners, acetone, and heating oil). In addition, these substances may cause the appliance materials to corrode.

Description of the Appliance
When you unpack the system, check that everything is complete. If there are any missing parts or you detect any transport damage when unpacking, please inform your dealer immediately. Illustrations on the fold-out page! Illustration 1

Before Startup

→ Remove the freshwater reservoir. Press the release and remove the tank.
Note: The motor casing can only be removed if the freshwater reservoir
was removed first. Illustration 3
→ Remove the motor casing. For this, fold the carrying handle forward to
unlatch the reservoir.
→ Remove the accessories and swivel casters from the reservoir. Illustration 4
→ Turn the container, and press in the steering roller in the openings at the
base of the container till the endpoint. Illustration5
→ Turn the motor casing around and attach the foam filter to the filter
basket.
→ Insert the filter cover and turn to lock.
→ Install the motor casing. Pull up on the carrying handle to lock.

→ Install the freshwater reservoir. Insert the bottom part first and then
press toward the top of the motor compartment to check if it is locked in.

→ Attach the suction hose and the spray hose to the connectors on the
appliance.
Note: Press the suction hose tightly into the connector to lock it into
place. Illustration 8
→ Connect the spray/suction pipes and attach them to the handle. Center the
locking lever when attaching it, and turn clockwise to lock.
→ Attach the floor nozzle to the spray/suction pipes and secure it with a
locking lever. The appliance is now prepared for wet cleaning.
→ Connect the spray/suction pipes and attach them to the handle. Center the

Operations
CAUTION
Always work with an inserted foam filter – during wet as well as dry vacuum
cleaning!
Wet cleaning carpets/hard floors/upholstery
CAUTION Check the object to be cleaned prior to using the appliance in an
inconspicuous place for color fastness and water resistance. Do not clean
water-sensitive floor coverings such as wood floors (the moisture could
penetrate and damage the floor).
NOTICE Warm water (max. 50°C) will increase the cleaning effect.
Wet cleaning of carpeted floors
→ Use the wash floor nozzle.
→ Work without the hard surface insert. Please only use the carpet cleaner RM
519.
Wet cleaning of hard surfaces
→ Use the wash floor nozzle.
→ Slide the attachment for hard surfaces onto the spray ex floor nozzle from
the side. The bristles should point towards the back.
Wet cleaning of upholstery
→ Use the wash hand nozzle.
Fill up the freshwater reservoir
Note: You can remove the water reservoir to fill it or you can fill it
directly on the appliance. Illustration 9
→ Flip the reservoir cover-up.
→ Add 100 – 200 ml (the volume depends on the degree of contamination) of RM
519 into the freshwater reservoir, then add tap water – do not overfill.
→ Close the reservoir cover. Start working on Illustration 10
→ Insert the mains plug into the socket.
→ Press the switch for suction (the position I), a suction turbine is running.

→ Close fully the surrounding air separator at the handle. Illustration 12
→ Press the switch for spraying (a position I), and the detergent pump is
ready. Illustration 13
→ Use the lever on the spray handle to spray on a detergent solution.

→ For continuous spray, the spray lever can be locked; for this, activate the
spray lever and pull the locking key toward the rear.
→ Run across the surface to be cleaned in overlapping paths. Pull the nozzle
backward (do not push).
Emptying the reservoir during operation
Note: If the container is full, a float closes the suction opening, and
the appliance works at a higher speed. Switch off the appliance immediately,
and empty the container.
→ Switch the appliance off by pressing the switch for suction and spraying
(position 0).
→ Separate the spray/suction hose and the spray hose from the appliance.
Note: Possibly remaining water can drip out, therefore you should place
these into the shower or bathtub.
→ Remove the accessories and the freshwater reservoir and unlatch the motor
casing.
→ Remove the motor casing and empty the reservoir.
Cleaning tips/mode of operation
- Always work from the light to the shade (from the window to the door).
- Always work from the cleaned to the uncleaned surface.
- Rugs with jute backing can shrink if too much water is used and can bleed colors.
- Brush high-fiber rugs in the direction of the weave after cleaning (using a fiber brush or a scrubber).
- Water-proofing the fabric using Care Tex RM 762 after the wet cleaning prevents a quick re-soiling of the textile surface.
- Do not step on cleaned surfaces until they have dried and do not place furniture on them to avoid pressure spots or rust stains.
Cleaning methods
Light/normal contamination
→ Turn on suction and spraying (a position I).
→ Spray and simultaneously suction off the detergent solution in one work
cycle.
→ Switch off the spray switch and suction off the remaining cleaning solution.
→ After cleaning the carpets, reclean them using clear, warm water and
waterproof if needed.
Heavy soiling or stains
→ Switch on sprayer (position I).
→ Apply detergent solution and allow to react for 5 minutes (vacuuming is
switched off).
→ Clean the surface just like you would with light/normal soiling.
→ After cleaning the carpets, reclean them using clear, warm water and
waterproof if needed.
End wet cleaning process
→ Rinse the spray tubes in the appliance as follows: Fill the detergent container with about 1 liter of clear water. Hold the nozzle above the drain, and switch on the spraying pump until the clear water has been consumed.
Dry vacuum cleaning
ATTENTION
Always ensure that the filter bag is inserted for dry vacuuming. Better
filtration can be achieved by using a cartridge filter (special accessories).
Container and accessories must be dry, otherwise, dirt may adhere.

→ Use the adapter for wet/dry vacuuming Attach the adapter to the handle, and
turn the locking handle to secure it.
→ Select the desired accessories and attach them to the spray/suction pipes or
directly to the attachment.
→ Switch on the suction (position I). Vacuuming hard surfaces Illustration 17
→ Insert the hard surface inlay into the floor nozzle. The bristles should
point towards the front.
Vacuuming carpeted floors

→ Work without the hard surface insert.
→ Use the surrounding air separator to adapt the suction force.
Note: Close the surrounding air separator again after use!
Wet vacuum cleaning
Caution: Do not use a filter bag! Immediately switch the appliance off if
foam forms or liquids escape!
Note: If the container is full, a float closes the suction opening, and
the appliance works at a higher speed. Switch off the appliance immediately,
and empty the container.
→ Use washing nozzle to vacuum up wet dirt/water. If you use a crevice nozzle:
→ Attach and secure the adapter for wet/dry vacuuming. Install the crevice
nozzle directly to the adapter.
→ Switch on suction (position I). Illustration 19
→ Open the surrounding air separator if water is suctioned from a tank. Close
it again after use.
→ Empty the full reservoir (refer to chapter “Empty reservoir”).
Shutting down
→ Turn off the appliance.
→ Empty the full reservoir (refer to chapter “Empty reservoir”).
→ Rinse the reservoir thoroughly with clear water.
→ Separate the handle, the spray/suction hoses, and the wash nozzle from each
other; open the locking lever to achieve this (center position),
→ Flush the accessories separately under running water and let air dry.
→ Clean the foam filter under running water; let it dry before reinserting it.
→ Leave the appliance open to let it dry.
→ Storing the appliance. Store the accessories on the appliance and store in
dry rooms.
Maintenance and Care
DANGER
Turn off the appliance and remove the main plug prior to any care and
maintenance work. Repair works may only be performed by the authorized
customer service.
WARNING
Do not use abrasives, glass, or universal cleaners! Never immerse the
appliance in water.
Clean the spray nozzle
With an uneven spray jet.

→ Loosen nozzle attachment and pull out, clean or replace spray nozzle.
Clean the sieve in the freshwater reservoir
1 x year or as needed.

→ Turn the lock and loosen it. Take out the sieve and rinse it with water.
Faults
No water exiting from the nozzle
→ Fill up the freshwater reservoir.
→ Check the freshwater reservoir for correct fit.
→ Detergent pump defective, contact customer service.
Spray stream uneven
→ Clean the spray nozzle of the washing nozzle.
Insufficient vacuum performance
→ Close the surrounding air separator at the handle. See diagram 11
→ Accessories, suction hose, or suction tubes are clogged, please remove the
obstruction.
→ Filter bag is full, insert a new filter bag for order no. please see the
spare parts list at the end of the present instructions
→ Cleaning the foam filter.
Detergent pump noisy
→ Fill up the freshwater reservoir.
The appliance is not running
→ Plug in the mains plug.
→ The overheat alarm has been triggered, please allow the appliance to cool
down.
