BOSCH QV/WQ Series Blower Motor Module Replacement

BLOWER MOTOR MODULE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR QV/WQ SERIES

Introduction

This document shows step-by-step instructions that will assist in the removal and replacement of the Blower Motor Module for QV and WQ Series.

Warnings

SAFETY WARNINGS

DANGER: PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Before performing service turn off electrical power to unit and observe the proper process of locking-out power at the main/disconnect box and follow all safety precautions outlined in unit’s IOM before performing any repairs to unit.

WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Installation and servicing of this equipment can be hazardous due to system pressure and electrical components. Only trained and qualified personnel should install, repair, or service the equipment.

WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
When working on equipment, always observe precautions described in the literature, tags, and labels attached to the unit. Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work gloves.

Tools required

  • 1/4” & 5/8” drivers
  • 9mm Socket

Instructions

Step 1. Turn off power to the unit and apply “Lock Out Tag Out” procedure.

  • Remove main unit access panel to remove line voltage connections and ensure there is no power supply to the lines.

  • Step 2. Remove blower access panel to locate the Blower Motor Module to be replaced. (See Fig. 1a & 1b)

  • Step 3. Remove the Motor Module mounting bracket with module and place on the divider (vertical configuration) or unit base (horizontal configuration).

  • Step 4. Release the Motor Module from the mounting bracket by removing the 9mm nuts (qty 2) on the back of the bracket.

  • Step 5. Remove module cover to access the control module by removing the front bolts held on by the remaining 9mm nuts (qty 2) on the back of the module.

  • Step 6. Unplug the three electrical harness connectors attached to the control module.

  • Step 7. The module cover and the three electrical harnesses remain in the unit in preparation to connect the new control module. The old control module can be discarded.BOSCH-Q-WQ-Series-Blower-Motor-Module-Replacement-fig-7

WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Ensure wiring is clear from all hazards inside the unit. Route wiring avoiding sharp edges. New Blower Motor Module Installation
Step 8. On the new/replacement Motor Module, separate module cover from the control module following step 5.
Step 9. Remake the electrical connections removed on step 6 onto the replacement control module (Refer to Fig. 7).
Step 10. Secure module cover and reinstall the module onto the mounting bracket using the bolts and corresponding nuts previously removed (refer to steps 4 & 5). Make sure the new Blower Motor
Module is mounted with the electrical harness plug connector facing down. See Fig. 8.
DO NOT overtighten nuts on bolts.

Step 11. Reinstall the mounting bracket into the unit.
Step 12. Reinstall unit panels.
