Special Safety Instructions
Carefully read through the operating instruction in their entirety. Keep all of the documents supplied and pass them on to the new owner if you part with the unit.
The hot-melt glue can reach a temperature of up to 200°C!
Caution, risk of burns!
Use only genuine Metabo accessories.
Nozzle set (consisting of threaded bush, flat nozzle and crevice nozzle).
Only replace when device has operating temperature.
Caution risk of burns! Use protective gloves or similar. Disconnect the
mains plug
before starting any maintenance work!
Do not store within the reach of children.
Perfect functioning is guaranteed only if original Metabo and/or Pattex hot-
melt glue sticks are used.
This device is not designed for use by persons (including children)
with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, or with insufficient experience
and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their
safety,
or have received instructions on how to use the device by this person.
Never allow children to use the machine.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the tool.
Use
Attach wire support and insert hot-melt glue sticks.
Place glue gun on wire support (if needed use a cardboard or wood support).
Plug in.
Heat up the glue gun for about 7 minutes.
Actuate the feed and apply the glue. Firmly press together the materials to be
glued and correct if needed. The bonding surface is able to be put under load
after a short while.
Tips and Tricks
For particularly good work results:
The parts to be bonded (sealing or grouting) parts must be free from grease,
must be dry and absolutely clean.
Apply the hot-melt glue in dots or strips. Do not spread.
The parts to be bonded should have room temperature. Heat cold tiles, marble
etc. prior to the application (e.g. with a hot air gun).
Materials that are difficult to bond (rubber, metal, particular plastics)
should be roughened prior to applying the hot-melt glue (e.g. with fine
sandpaper).
Rigid foam (e.g. polystyrene) can also be processed without any problems.
Apply the hot glue to the underground and not onto the polystyrene.
When bonding on smooth and/or somewhat colder surfaces (e.g. metal) first
apply the hot-melt glue to the smooth and/or somewhat colder surface.
In case of larger surfaces always apply the glue in dots (larger glue dots).
For bonding larger surfaces, use only hot-melt glue with an open time of more
than 20 seconds.
When bonding textiles or similar materials, apply the hot-melt glue in wavy
lines.
For sealing apply the hot-melt glue in stripes at the spot to be sealed. The
glue can be levelled with a spatula.
The bonded connections can be dissolved again using heat.
Protruding glue remains can be removed without any problems with a heated
knife.
Glue drops are removed best when cold.
In case of longer work breaks (more than 30 minutes), pull the plug from the
socket, since the hot-melt glue inside the gun can disintegrate.
Moderate pressure on the feed helps to finely dose the quantity of hot-melt glue. Excessive pressure may lead to the hot-melt glue stick getting stuck in the glue gun and thus blocking the feed: Heat the glue gun for 10 minutes and pull out the stick. Should the stick be too deep inside the glue gun, head a new stick on the glue gun, melt with the jammed stick and pull out carefully. Caution! Do not pull the stick all the way out of the glue gun. Hot glue running into the glue gun may cause damage.
Repairs
Repairs to electrical tools must ONLY be carried out by qualified
