Introduction
The ST2000PEXPSE Dual Port PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Network Card with Power over Ethernet (PoE) provides two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet ports that can also provide up to 25.5W of power each. Combining data and power on a single cable for less clutter and convenient installations in remote locations. This full/low profile Gigabit server adapter supports the IEEE 802.3at (Type 1 and 2) standard for a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device that can provide 48V DC power to a compliant Powered Device (PD). This eliminates the need for a separate power source and cable for remote networked devices such as IP cameras, IP phones, and wireless access points. Suitable for any PCI Express-enabled client, server or workstation, the network adapter supports features such as Jumbo Frames, VLAN tagging, and Wake on LAN (WOL). This PCIe NIC is backed by a StarTech.com 2-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

Installation
WARNING! PCI Express cards, like all computer equipment, can be severely damaged by static electricity. Be sure that you are properly grounded before opening your computer case or touching your PCI Express card. StarTech.com recommends that you wear an anti-static strap when installing any computer component. If an anti-static strap is unavailable, discharge yourself of any static electricity build-up by touching a large grounded metal surface (such as the computer case) for several seconds. Also, be careful to handle the PCI Express card by its edges and not the gold connectors.
Hardware Installation
-
Turn your computer off and any peripherals connected to the computer (i.e. Printers, external hard drives, etc.). Unplug the power cable from the rear of the power supply on the back of the computer and disconnect all peripheral devices.
-
Remove the cover from the computer case. See documentation for your computer system for details.
-
Locate an open PCI Express slot and remove the metal cover plate on the rear of the computer case (Refer to the documentation for your computer system for details.).
Note that this card will work in PCI Express slots of additional lanes (i.e. x4, x8 or x16 slots). -
Connect either an LP4 Molex or SATA power connector from the computer power supply to the appropriate connector on the card.
-
Gently insert the card into the open PCI Express slot and fasten the bracket to the rear of the case.
NOTE: If installing the card into a small form factor/low profile system, replacing the pre-installed full profile bracket with the included low profile installation bracket may be necessary. -
Place the cover back onto the computer case.
-
Insert the power cable into the socket on the power supply and reconnect all other connectors removed in Step 1.
Driver Installation
- If the Network Adapter Card is installed on a computer with Windows 8 or higher/Windows Server 2012 or higher, your computer will automatically detect the Network Adapter Card and install all the required drivers.
- If you’re running a different Operating System, or the drivers do not automatically install:
1. Navigate to www.StarTech.com/ST2000PEXPSE and click the Drivers/Downloads tab.
2. Under Driver(s), download the Driver Package for your operating system, and follow the steps outlined in the Installation guide, that’s included in the Driver Package.
Confirm Installation
To confirm installation on a computer running a version of Windows, complete the following:
- On your computer, navigate to Device Manager.
- Under Network adapters, confirm that the number of Realtek adapters corresponding to the number of RJ45 ports on the card is listed.
In some cases, an exclamation mark appears next to devices that aren’t installed correctly. If the driver wasn’t installed correctly, try installing the driver again.
