Button function introduction

Settings area

  • MENU: Enter menu and return
  • REPLAY: View pictures and videos
  • SHOT: Enlarge the picture to view, use this key to zoom in and need to zoom out, press the “OK” key below
  • OK: Confirm

mode switch

  • OFF: When the camera does not need to work, you need to slide the button to “OFF”
  • TEST: When setting the camera and viewing pictures, please slide the button to “TEST”
  • ON: The camera needs to work, slide the button to “ON”

INSTALLATION

Step 1

Open the battery cover and Install 4 or 8 AA batteries following to the positive and the negative battery sign. Close the battery cover to resist water and dust.

NOTICE

Video recording will consume significantly more power than taking photo. especially at night with IR LED on. Please set a shorter video Length to ensure battery life

Step 2

Insert Micro SD memory card to HC-812 Trail Camera supports Max 256 GB

NOTICE
Before you insert or remove the memory card,the camera power switch must be turned to “OFF”.Failing to do so may causes loss of files or damage the pictures that already recorded in the memory card.

Step 3

Slide the mode swith to :“TEST”

Step 4

  1. The screen lights up and enters the operation settings
  2. Please format the memory card when using it for the first time

Step 5

  1. Camera working mode
    After the setting is completed, slide the setting key to the “ON” mode,A 15-second countdown appears on the screen, and the LED indicator starts to flash, the countdown ends, the red light turns off, and the machine enters the working state

  2. view image

    • To view the picture on the camera screen, please slide the mode switch to TEST mode, press the “REPLAY” button to display the picture, press the up and down keys to view the picture.
    • or slide the mode switch to“TEST”, connect the camera with one end of the USB cable, and connect the other end to the computer, then open the file transferred by USB on the computer to view the pictures taken
    • Or take out the memory card in the camera, plug it into the computer port with the SD card adapter, and view the pictures on the computer

Setup introduction

Mode:

Photo, Video, Photo+Video, choose whether to take a photo or video when motion is detected. In “Photo + Video” mode, the camera takes the set number of photos first, and then records the video

Photo resolution:

Select the desired resolution for photos. A higher resolution produces a somewhat better photo quality but results in larger files requiring more space on the memory card.

Photo series:

1/2/3/10 available. You can set the number of photos taken after an animal is detected

Video resolution

Select the required video resolution. A higher resolution produces higher quality videos but results in larger files requiring more space on the memory card. Videos are recorded in AVI format which can be played back on most video devices.

Video length:

Default 5 seconds, and you can also choose 30s,60s,90s.Specify the duration of a video recording when the camera is triggered automatically

Shot lag

The minimum IR trigger interval is 5 seconds and the maximum is 60 minutes. According to the shooting scene settings, the camera’s default setting is 5 seconds

Time-lapse

If you want to record the process of blooming flowers, the “time-lapse” mode can be used. The camera automatically records at the set time (Notification: Infrared Motion sensors deactivated)

Time & Date 

Press the up, down, left and right keys to adjust the date and time. Time setting can choose 12-hour format or 24-hour format

Endless Capture

If”YES”, it won’t stop recording when the SD card is full, but will delete the oldest videos/photos. If “NO”, it will stop recording when the SD card is full.

Trouble Shooting

Q: Power on

A:
When all the setting completed, slide power switch from “TEST” to” ON”(The camera light flashes only once).The camera powers on and captures image or videos when animals or people are detected by its PIR The camera will stay asleep to save power if no animals are detected.

Q: How to let the camera capture the object of interest?

A:

  1. Check the PIR, if it damaged or covered by leaf,camera will not be triggered.
  2. Try to set your camera up in an area where no heat resources are in the camera’s field of view.
  3. In some cases,set the camera near to water will make the camera take images with no subject in them.
  4. Try to aim the camera over ground.
  5. Try to set camera on stable and immovable objects,such as large trees.
  6. At night,motion detector may detect beyond range of the IR illumination
  7. Rising sun or sunset can trigger sensor, Camera should be reoriented.
  8. If person/animal moves quickly,it may move out of the camera’s field of view before photos taken Move camera further back or redirect camera.

Q: Camera Stops Taking Images

A:

  1. Please make sure that the memory card has enough memory storage. If the cycle recording is off and memory card is full,camera will stop taking images.
  2. Check batteries to make sure that alkaline AA batteries left power is enough for camera to work.
  3. Make sure that the camera power switch is at the“On” position and not at the“Off” mode.
  4. Please format the memory card when you first time to use it or change to use another memory card.

Q: Night Vision Flash Range Doesn’t Meet Expectations

A:

  1. Install 8 pcs high-quality AA batteries for better battery life.
  2. To ensure accuracy and quality of nighttime image, please mount camera to dark environment without any obvious light sources;
  3. Certain surroundings (like trees, walls, ground, etc.) within flash range can get you better nighttime images; please do not aim camera to total open field where there is nothing within IR flash range to reflect flash back,it’s like shinning a flashlight into sky in night, you just can’t see anything, same does camera. Our products are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase
  4. repair the product at no charge using new or refurbished parts;
  5. exchange the product with a functionally equivalent product that is new or refurbished. This warranty excludes damage from abuse, accident, modifications or others that are not defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty only covers failures d to defects in materials or workmanship under normal usage.
