A built-in receiver allows the clock to receive transmissions from other Sonic Alert signalers. The need for separate receivers in your bedroom to alert you is gone thanks to this patented function. Setting the Time of Day
Note: Since your clock has a 24-hour memory, you must make sure that the time set is AM or PM. A round light in the upper left of the clock display will indicate PM time. For AM time, the light does not appear.
- Press and hold the TIME (time set) button. Then press the HOUR button until the correct hour is shown.
- Press and hold the TIME button again. Then press the MIN (minute) button until the correct minutes are shown.
Setting an Alarm Time
Note: Since your clock has a 24-hour memory, you must make sure that the time set is AM or PM. A round light in the upper left of the clock display will indicate PM time. For AM time, the light does not appear.
- Press and hold the ALARM (alarm set) button. Then press the HOUR button until the desired alarm hour is shown.

Turning the Alarm On and Choosing Waking Options
The Sonic Boom clock can wake you with any combination of flashing lamp, pulsating audio alarm, and shaking bed. To turn on the alarm, you must set the OUTLETS switch to the LAMP, VIB (vibrator), or BOTH positions. This sets the alarm to go off at the alarm time which you have preset. To tell you that the alarm is set, the clock’s Alarm Set light will turn on.
Note
If you set the OUTLETS switch to OFF, the audio alarm will not sound. Use the
chart below to set the alarms you want to wake up to:

Using the Volume and Tone Controls
You use the VOLUME control knob to turn the audio alarm on or off and to adjust the volume. To increase volume, rotate the knob toward you. To turn the audio alarm off, rotate the knob away from you until you feel it click.
You use the TONE control knob to adjust the pitch of the audio alarm. For a lower pitch alarm, rotate the knob toward you. For a higher pitch, rotate it away from you.
Snoozing and Turning the Alarm Off
Pressing the blue SNOOZE button will turn the alarm signals off for nine minutes. After nine minutes, the alarm will go on again.
Pressing the AL. OFF (alarm off) button will turn the alarm off and automatically reset the alarm to go on at the same time the next day.
Setting the OUTLETS switch to OFF turns off the alarm. The alarm will not go off again until you set the OUTLETS switch back to LAMP, VIB or BOTH.
Adjusting the LED Time Display Angle
You can adjust the clock’s display by simply moving it forward and backward.
Testing the Alarm
You can use the TEST button, located on the bottom of the alarm, to check your settings of the audio alarm, lamp, and vibrator. Pressing and holding the TEST button will cause the alarm to go off. Releasing the TEST button will end the test.
Battery Backup
In the event of a power interruption, the Sonic Boom alarm clock can use battery backup to save your time and alarm settings until power is restored.
To use battery backup, you can install a 9V battery (not provided) in the clock.
Note
Please use only an Alkaline battery with the Sonic Alert Boom Clock.
To install a battery, use a small screwdriver or key to remove the battery compartment access door from the bottom of the clock. Once you’ve installed the battery, the cover clips back into place.
Note
During a power interruption, the clocks display will turn off, but time
and alarm settings will be saved.
Using a Lamp With the Alarm Clock
To use a lamp that is connected to the Sonic Boom alarm clock, follow these steps:
- Plug the lamp into the AC outlet on the back of the clock.
- Make sure the ON/OFF switch on the lamp is in the ON position.
- Press the large yellow LAMP button on the front of the clock to turn the lamp on.
- Press the lamp button again to turn the lamp off.
- The light will flash to alert you to the alarm if the light is either on or off.
Using the Super Shaker 12V Bed Vibrator Option
To connect the vibrator to the clock, locate the DC outlet on the back of the clock. Plug the vibrator into this outlet. Then simply put the vibrator under your pillow or mattress.
You can adjust the operation of the VIBRATOR switch to the method which is most effective to wake you up:
- Setting the VIBRATOR switch to STEADY means the vibrator will have a constant vibration when the alarm goes off.
- Setting the VIBRATOR switch to PULSE means the vibrator will vibrate on and off when the alarm goes off.
Using Optional Transmitters with the Alarm Clock
The Sonic Boom alarm clock includes a remote receiver which allows the clock to set off flashing lights, the vibrator, and an audio alarm when it receives a signal from a remote transmitter.
Sonic Alert offers a number of transmitters that work with the clock’s remote receiver, including:
- DS 700 Doorbell Signaler
- TR 75 Telephone Signaler
- BC 400 Baby Cry Signaler
To turn the clock’s remote receiver on for use with a remote transmitter, locate the RECEIVER ON/OFF switch on the bottom of the clock and set it to the ON.
If you are not using any Sonic Alert remote transmitter or if you do not want the clock to respond to a transmitter, set the switch to OFF.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did anyone receive the “ss12vw super shaker bed vibrating unit” as advertised? i got ripped off.****
The whole thing is a rip-off the alarm doesn’t work and that’s what main reason I bought it for.
When the alarm goes on, can the clock just turn the light on, but not flash?****
No. The light works if you plug the lamp into your alarm clock, but it is only a flash setting. The idea is that the lamp flashes in time with the bed shaker’s pulsations. You can choose to turn the lamp on whenever you want (like as a reading lamp) by clicking the large yellow button. The light will not just turn on and stay on though, if the lamp is being utilized as part of the alarm clock cycle. As the other commenter mentioned, you do go through more bulbs when you use the light flashing feature but it is totally worth it. I would recommend plugging a lamp you don’t care about into the alarm clock if you are worried about the constant on/off/on/off wear and tear that the alarm may have on the lamp itself.
How do shut off audible alarm and leave the shaker on?****
There is a choice to use either alarm or the shaker. I prefer using the shaker only because the alarm is pretty loud and I live in an apartment.
Does this come with the bed shaker or is it separate where I need to buy the bed shaker thing?****
It comes with the bed shaker. The shaker looks really small, but no way to
sleep through it.
Something might be wrong with it. It should only be displaying the clock time.
I need a 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm alarm that can be set and remain set to remind my mother to eat. Can you set and leave 2 alarm times?****
No you cannot set 2 different times on it. Only can set one time like a normal alarm clock does.
Yes, I have a question on what model I would need for waking up at home in case of a fire. Is there one capable of hearing the fire alarm ?****
–this clock does not have the capability of waking you up in case of a fire and we do not recommend using a baby cry transmitter or a sound transmitter, as those can trigger false alarms. Sonic Alert’s new device, Home Aware, may be a better option for you. You would need the master kit and the smoke/CO transmitter. You can use Home Aware’s receivers for other rooms, or purchase the bridge unit and use Sonic Alert receivers.
Does this always vibrate?****
Only if you have the attachment that vibrates (not included- you must buy separately). Then, change the vibration setting from “steady” to “pulse”. The audible tone also changes from one steady sound to a pulsing sound when you use the “pulse” setting.
Does this item come with the bed shaker?****
You can get this clock with or without the bed shaker.
When I unplugged the light, and the shaker and turn the light off, it starts alarming like crazy with an high pitch noise. Even took the battery out.?****
You may have a defected unit. We have two and neither of ours do this.
Does this work with sonic alert doorbell device?****
The Sonic DB200 will work with this Alarm Clock.
What is the range of the tone control?****
You can adjust the tone control either to a low or high pitch tone. It does amplify to 113dB, it does go very loud.
Does this work with a smoke alarm my husband is deaf and i go away a few times a year and he is alone and and can not here the smoke alarm?****
It will work if you purchase an optional add-on such as Sonic Alert BC400, Just plug it in the area of the fire alarm, set the sensitivity and test it, We use this in our condo.
