Installation Process
HS1 can be installed on any full face, half face or modular helmet.
Note – Please spend a few minutes reading the instructions before you start the installation process.
Installation Steps
Before you install the headset, you need to remove the helmet inner side
padding to reveal the speaker slots.
Note : Most helmets provide a speaker slot. If your helmet does not have
a speaker slot, you will need to push the ear-piece into place on the EPS
(Thermocol) layer.
Take the helmet speakers along with the velcro stickers and locate the slots provided inside the helmet. Attach the sticker first and then attach the speakers. You can use the additional spacers to ensure the speakers are both centerd and close enough to your ears. You can adjust this position later when you test the audio output. Next run the boom mic along the left inner surface of the helmet shell or chin bar if it is a full-face helmet and adjust it such that the mic end of the unit is close to your mouth, the buttons should be facing you such that the buttons are accessible with the thumb of your left hand and the mic oriented towards your mouth.
The main way to secure the unit in place is by using the gooseneck clip. This
part has a velcro sticker that allows you to anchor the headset using the
gooseneck. This also allows you to adjust the position of the device by
sliding the device along the gooseneck.
In most cases the gooseneck clip is all that you need to mount the unit,
however you can also anchor the device with the battery compartment as a
secondary mounting point. To do this, use the additional velcro sticker
provided in the kit that matches the profile of the battery compartment. Once
you find the right spot on the shell after trying out the helmet, you can
place the battery compartment, stick the velcro sticker and apply it in place.
You can adjust the flexible stem of the mic to suit your comfort and audio
performance.
Positioning for optimum performance.
Remember the mic will perform poorly if it is placed oriented outward,
directly facing the wind. We recommended you adjust to suit your specific
helmet. Make a few test calls and check with the person on the other side if
they are able to hear you clearly, twist / move the mic position such that the
performance is optimal. It is also recommended you position the speakers
centred to your ear canal. To make this adjustment, use the spacers that are
provided in the kit and place the speakers in the ideal location. Play a
soundtrack and adjust the position till you get the same audio performance on
both left and right speakers.
