Why does the suction get weaker?
There are several reasons why the suction of a pool vacuum jet may weaken.
1. Clogged or Dirty Filter: A common reason for reduced suction is a clogged or dirty filter. Over time, debris can accumulate in the filter or strainer of the vacuum jet, restricting water flow and diminishing suction power. Regularly cleaning or replacing the filter can help maintain optimal suction.
2. Blockages in Hoses or Attachments: Blockages in the hoses, attachments, or vacuum head can impede the flow of water and reduce suction. Check for any obstructions and remove them to restore proper suction.
3. Hose Twisted: A twisted hose in a pool vacuum jet weakens water pressure and reduces suction. Straightening the hose restores optimal flow, maintaining strong suction. Regularly check and untwist the hose for effective performance.
4. Air Leaks: Air leaks in the hoses or connections can disrupt the vacuum’s suction power. Inspect the hoses, fittings, and seals for any signs of damage or looseness. Tightening or replacing faulty parts can help eliminate air leaks and restore suction.
5. Worn or Damaged Vacuum Components: Wear and tear on the vacuum components, such as hoses, seals, or brushes, can diminish suction power. Inspect these parts regularly and replace them if they show signs of damage or deterioration.
6. Inadequate Water Level: If the water level in the pool is too low, it can affect the suction of the vacuum jet. Ensure the water level is within the recommended range (over 1.1 feet) to maintain optimal suction.
