INTENDED USE

The FREEZE POD ice bath is an inflatable bathtub that can be filled with ice and water and is designed to immerse a person’s body in cold water.
The key features and intended use of the FREEZE POD ice bath include:

Temperature Control:
The bath is filled with a combination of ice and water to create a cold environment. The temperature is typically lower than that of the body, and the cold water helps induce a physiological response.

Immersive Experience:
Users sit or submerge their bodies in the ice bath for a specific duration. The cold water envelops the body, providing a cooling effect on the skin and the underlying tissues.

Therapeutic Cooling:
The primary intended use is therapeutic, aiming to harness the benefits of cold exposure. This includes reducing muscle soreness, minimizing inflammation, and aiding in recovery after physical exertion.

Sports Recovery:
Athletes, particularly those involved in high-intensity or endurance sports, often use ice baths as part of their recovery routine to help alleviate muscle fatigue and expedite the recovery process.

Injury Management:
Ice baths may be recommended for individuals recovering from injuries, especially those involving muscle or joint inflammation. Cold water can contribute to reducing swelling and providing pain relief.

Post-Exercise Routine:
Ice baths are commonly incorporated into post-exercise routines, either in athletic training facilities or at home, as a means of promoting recovery and maintaining overall muscle health.

There are no other uses for this product.
Warning: Only use this product as described in this user manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in personal injury or material damage. FREEZE POD is not liable for damage or injury resulting from improper or careless use.

SITE SELECTION

Find a suitable location for your ice bath. One of the benefits of our ice bath is that you can place it almost anywhere. It can be set up both indoors and outdoors, giving you flexibility in choosing the perfect location for your ice bath sessions. It can easily be placed on a terrace, in the garden, or even in a conservatory.

Before proceeding to install your ice bath, please make sure that the location meets the following conditions for a safe experience:

  1. The area where the ice bath is to be set up must be flat, stable, and level. Do not set up the ice bath on a slope or inclined surface.

  2. The ground surface must be compacted and firm enough to withstand the pressure and weight of a fully set-up ice bath. Do not set up the ice bath on mud, sand, soft or loose soil conditions.

  3. The ground surface must be clean and free from sharp objects.
TIP: When using outdoors, it is a good idea to lay a tarp on the ground first, below where the ice bath will sit. This will help to protect against punctures and tears. Unfold the ice bath atop this tarp, centering it as much as possible. Important: Do not drag the ice bath across the ground as this can cause damage and leakage.

  4. The ice bath requires at least 1.5 – 2.0m of space all around the ice bath free from objects that a child could climb on to gain access to the ice bath.

  5. If possible keep the ice bath sheltered from the sun and bad weather.

  6. Choose a location where you can easily drain the used water. When setting up the ice bath, point the drain connection in the direction where you want to drain the used water.
TIP: You can take an ice bath in a 1m2 space. For example, you can place the FREEZE POD ice bath in the shower.

BATH PREPARATION & FIRST-TIME USE

  • Wash carefully with warm water before first use. Do not use corrosive cleaning agents when cleaning the product (see the chapter “MAINTENANCE, CLEANING & STORAGE”).
  • After unpacking, the ice bath will emit a light/subtle plastic odor. This is normal and the smell will disappear afterwards.
  • Before each use, inspect for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Refrain from using the ice bath if any issues are identified.

ICE BATH ASSEMBLY & FILLING

  • Our ice bath can be assembled in less than 10 minutes.
  • The filling time depends on the amount of water that you will add.

Determine the ice bath location.

  • See chapter “SITE SELECTION”.
  • When used in cold environments, soak the ice bath first in warm water for 2-3 minutes before assembly.

Assemble the legs.
Insert the support tubes in sequence in the openings of the ice bath. The support tubes provide stability.

Place the drain hose (drain).
Attach the drain hose to the ice bath drain tap. This makes it easy to drain the water after the session.

Use the pump to inflate the edge.
Use the supplied pump to inflate the ice bath top ring and the thermo lid ring (see the chapter “INFLATING OF THE RINGS”).

Position the drain connection.
When setting up the ice bath, point the drain connection in the direction where you want to drain the used water.

Fill the ice bath.
Always begin your filling with room temperature water, do not add ice in first as it could instantly freeze the inside. The level of water in the bath depends on individual needs and should not exceed 2/3.
You probably only want to fill up about halfway. When you get in there will be water displacement. So don’t fill to the top.

Cover the ice bath with the thermo lid.
The thermo lid is designed to keep a thermal bridge between the ice bathwater and the external elements and keeps the water at a steady temperature. In addition, the lid prevents bugs, leaves, and other debris from falling into your ice bath. When not in use please keep the ice bath covered at all times.

USING WITH HOT WATER

  • Never start filling the tub with hot water only (maximum 50 degrees Celsius). Adjust the water to the proper temperature.
  • The level of water in the bath depends on individual needs and should not exceed 2/3.

INFLATING OF THE RINGS

  1. Inflate the top ring and the thermo lid ring.
    • You will want to use the supplied pump, or you will have an arduous task ahead of you (and your lungs). When properly inflated, both rings should be firm, but not hard. Take care not to over-inflate.
    • In the heat of the day, the air inside the rings will expand somewhat. This is not a problem in and of itself, but over-inflation means this routine expansion could lead to your ring bursting.
  2. Proper inflation of the rings.
    • The ambient temperatures of air and water affect the internal pressure of the rings. To maintain correct internal pressure, it is best to leave some room for expansion as the sun heats the air inside the rings. During very hot weather, you must check to see whether it is necessary to release some air. This is to avoid any possible damage to the rings.

WARNING: Do not use an air compressor to inflate the rings.

HEALTH & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Strict adherence to the guidelines and provided instructions for the ice bath is highly advised to ensure safe and effective use. Failure to follow these guidelines could lead to injury or pose serious health risks.
  • Contact us by e-mail at info@freeze-pod.com, if you have questions that remain unanswered by these warnings & safety instructions.

Warnings

  • Before utilizing an ice bath, it is imperative to consult with your medical professional, especially if you have any underlying health conditions. The FREEZE POD ice bath is crafted to achieve extremely low temperatures, and its use with a medical condition may pose health risks.
  • We strongly advise acquiring knowledge about cold water therapy before employing this ice bath. It is crucial to comprehend the recommended temperatures and duration of use.
  • Refrain from using if you are: under 18 years old, pregnant, experiencing known heart or respiratory issues, high blood pressure, diabetes, neuropathy, retinal damage, wear a pacemaker, have a history of frostbite or cold-related difficulties, have an open wound, have recently undergone surgery, have epilepsy, or have any other health concerns that may be exacerbated by an ice bath.
  • The ice bath is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.
  • The use of an ice bath can significantly lower your body’s core temperature. Immersion in cold water causes blood vessels to constrict, slowing blood flow throughout the body. This, when combined with health complications, can elevate blood pressure, increasing the risk of cardiac arrest or stroke.
  • Never leave children or vulnerable adults unattended near the ice bath. Proper supervision is crucial when children or vulnerable adults are in the vicinity of a water-filled ice bath to prevent the risk of drowning.
  • Avoid the consumption of alcohol, drugs, or medication before or during the use of the ice bath, as it can heighten the risk of drowning.
  • This ice bath is not intended for swimming.
  • Do not permit electric appliances (such as light, telephone, radio, television, etc.) Within 1.5 meters of this tub.

Side Effects and Health Risks

  • While the primary and immediately noticeable side effect of an ice bath is an intense sensation of cold, extended exposure to cold water carries additional risks. These include the potential for frostbite, hypothermia, tachycardia, arrhythmias, as well as allergic and anaphylactic shock.
  • If you encounter symptoms such as severe shivering, dizziness, confusion, or difficulty breathing either during or after the use of the ice bath, it is crucial to promptly exit the bath and seek immediate medical attention.
Our Recommendations

While there are inherent risks associated with using an ice bath, when employed correctly, it can yield numerous health benefits. We recommend an optimal temperature of 15 degrees Celsius for an initial duration of no more than a few minutes. It is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of how to use this ice bath, emphasizing the importance of not pushing your body beyond its limits.

Limited Usage Duration

Temperature Recommendation:
We recommend an optimal water temperature of 15 degrees Celsius to reap the benefits of cold-water therapy, though individual preferences may vary. Starting with warmer temperatures before gradually reducing to the optimal level is advised.

Supervision
A responsible adult should always be present during ice bath usage. Never use it unsupervised or alone due to the inherent risk of accidental drowning. The extreme cold can lead to muscle stiffness, reduced coordination, and orientation, increasing the risk of accidents. Prioritizing safety and taking necessary precautions is essential to prevent accidents and injuries during use.

MAINTENANCE, CLEANING & STORAGE

First-time use:
Before using the ice bath for the first time, it is essential to follow these steps: Wash the inside with warm water, thoroughly rinse, and wipe down with a clean, dry cloth.

Cleaning guidelines:

  • Never utilize additional chemicals or detergents to clean your ice bath, as this may result in the degradation of materials, compromise waterproof seals, and affect thermal properties.
  • Do not use abrasive objects for cleaning.
  • Cleaning must not be performed by children.

Post-use procedure:

  • After each use, promptly drain your ice bath using the provided drain tap and hose. Empty the contents into a nearby sink or drain. Once drained, carefully dry it with a towel. Do not store the water for a long time, which will deform the bathtub and shorten the service life.
  • Change the water in the ice bath regularly and do not let the water sit for more than a week before changing it.

Storage

  • We advise cleaning the ice bath before long-time storage.
  • Remove the support tubes and the drain tap. Deflate the rings and fold the ice bath.
  • Protect the folded ice bath against punctures.
  • Store the ice bath in a secure and dry location, avoiding direct sunlight.

USING THE REPAIR KIT

The package of the ice bath contains a vinyl plastic repair kit. You can repair small leaks with the included stickers.
Follow the steps below to find and repair the leak:

TOP RING & THERMO LID RING

  1. Small holes in the top ring and the thermo lid ring are easy to find by spraying the inflated ring with soap and water to see where air bubbles become visible. If you can’t find any air bubbles, inflate the rings a little more, listen for air leaks, and continue using soap and water until you find the air bubbles.
  2. Thoroughly clean the area where the leak is.
  3. Degrease the cleaned area.
  4. Dry the degreased area. Allow to dry for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Cut out a patch at least 1 cm larger than the damaged area. Never use straight corners on a patch, cut the corners round.
  6. Draw the shape of the patch exactly where it will be applied.
  7. Deflate the ring completely.
  8. Remove the vinyl patch from the paper backing. Place the patch with the adhesive side on the marked area where the patch is to be applied.
  9. Gently push out the air from under the patch if you detect bubbles under the patch. You can use a round object such as a spoon for this. Perform this procedure by pushing outward on the center of the patch. Press the patch firmly over the hole or puncture. After the pressing place a flat heavy weight on the patch.
  10. Do not inflate and keep it dry for 10 minutes
