Product Information

The Haden Heritage Kettle, model number HK01010-US, is an electric kettle designed for household use. The kettle has a 1.7-liter capacity and features a lid, handle, water level indicator, on/off switch, base, spout, and housing. It also includes a built-in scale protection feature to prevent lime scale buildup and a removable filter behind the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage. Product Usage Instructions

Before using the Haden Heritage Kettle, ensure that the kettle
is only operated when placed on the base with the ON/OFF (I/O) button in the ON (I) position. Follow these steps to use your kettle:

1. Remove the kettle from the base.
2. Pull the lid handle up to remove the lid.
3. Ensure that the removable filter is in place.
4. To install the filter, put it in the kettle, aligning the filter circle with the inside/back of the pour spout.
5. Fill with desired amount of cold tap water. Use the water window on the outside of the kettle as a guide for 4 cups up to 1.7 liters (7 cups).
6. Put the lid back on the kettle.
7. Unwind cord from base.
8. Place the kettle securely on the base.
9. Plug cord on the base into standard electrical outlet.
10. Press the On/Off (I/O) switch to the On (I) position. The power indicator light turns on and the water begins to heat.
11. When water boils, the kettle and the power indicator light will automatically turn off.
12. When taking kettle to the table, carry it with caution to avoid spilling. Set it on a trivet or hot pad to protect the table surface or tablecloth.
13. Hold kettle handle firmly when pouring, especially when filled to the max fill line. Do not pour too fast.
14. Unplug the kettle when not in use.
    For cleaning, ensure that the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle before cleaning. This product contains no user serviceable parts, so refer service to qualified service personnel.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

• To disconnect, lift the ON/OFF switch to OFF (O) then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the heating cycle.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
•  Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• This appliance is intended for household use only.
• WARNING! Shock Hazard: This product is provided with either a polarized (one wide blade) or grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one way into a polarized or grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an electrician replace the outlet.
• The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounding type, the extension cord must also be a grounding-type, 3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.

HOW TO USE YOUR KETTLE

This appliance is for household use only.

BEFORE USING YOUR KETTLE

• Remove all packing materials, any stickers and the plastic band around the power plug.
• Wash all parts as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING section.
• Select a level surface where this unit is to be used allowing enough space for steam to escape without damage to counters, cabinets and walls.
• Fill kettle to maximum fill line with cold water. Bring to boil, discard and repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.
  Note: The kettle only operates when placed on the base with the ON/ OFF (I/O) button in the ON (I) position. The kettle automatically shuts off when water has boiled or there is no water in the kettle.

IMPORTANT

• Do NOT fill the kettle with any substance other than water. Heat water only.
• Do NOT operate the kettle without water.
• Do NOT operate the kettle without the filter in place.
• Do NOT overfill the kettle. (Keep water level below the max fill line on the water window.)

FILLING THE KETTLE

1. Remove the kettle from the base.
2.  Pull lid handle up to remove the lid.
3. Make sure the removable filter is in place.
4. To install: put filter in kettle, aligning the filter circle with the inside/ back of the pour spout.

6.  Put the lid back on the kettle.
7.  Unwind cord from base.

BOILING WATER

1. Plug cord on the base into standard electrical outlet.
2. Press the On/Off (I/O) switch to the On (I) position. The power indicator light turns on and the water begins to heat.
3. When water boils, the kettle and the power indicator light will automatically turn off. Note: You can also turn the appliance off at any time by lifting the ON/OFF (I/O) switch to the OFF (O) position.
   • Warning: Kettle filled with boiling water is hot. Use only the handle to pick it up.
   • When taking kettle to the table, carry kettle with caution to avoid spilling. Set it on a trivet or hot pad to protect the table surface or tablecloth.
   • Important: Hold kettle handle firmly when pouring, especially when filled to the max fill line. Do not pour too fast.
   • Unplug the kettle when not in use.
   • Note: This kettle has a boil dry protection feature that automatically turns the kettle and power indicator light off when water has boiled or if there is no water in the kettle.

BUILT-IN SCALE PROTECTION
Note: Lime scale forms over time in the kettle when water is heated. Though harmless, it may be bothersome. The kettle has a removable filter behind the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage.
Always have the removable filter in place just behind the spout when using the kettle.

CARE & CLEANING

This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.

CLEANING

1. Before cleaning, be sure the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.

2. Pull out the removable filter for cleaning. Wash the filter in hot, soapy water and rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the dishwasher.

3. Wash the inside of the kettle with hot, soapy water and rinse.
   Important: Never immerse the kettle in water or other liquids or place in a dishwasher.

4.  Wipe exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and dry.

   • Note: The heating element at the bottom of the interior may discolor over time. This will not affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads on the kettle.
   • Note: Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil. When this happens, it is time for descaling.

TO DESCALE

1. Fill kettle with 4 cups cold tap water and bring to a boil. Add 2 cups white vinegar, let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight and discard.
2. Fill kettle to maximum fill line with cold water. Bring to boil, discard and repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.

LIMITED WARRANTY

• This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition. This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you. If the product or component is no longer available, we will replace with a similar one of equal or greater value. This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration, abuse, or misuse.
• This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase
  is required to make a warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family household use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the rating label (e.g., 120V ~ 60 Hz). We exclude all claims for special, incidental, and consequential damages caused by breach of express or implied warranty. All liability is limited to the amount of the purchase price. Every implied warranty, including any statutory warranty or condition of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, is disclaimed except to the extent prohibited by law, in which case such warranty or condition is limited to the duration of this written warranty. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other legal rights that vary depending on where you live. Some states or provinces do not allow limitations on implied warranties or special, incidental, or consequential damages, so the foregoing limitations may not apply to you.
