The Alpha, Alpha-K, and Gaia Acute Stretcher mattresses are designed for different purposes. The mattresses are made of high-quality materials to provide comfort and support for users.

Usage Instructions
Note: Before using the product, please read the user manual thoroughly
for important information and safety instructions.
To ensure the proper usage and maintenance of the mattresses, please follow
these guidelines:
Alpha and Alpha-K Mattresses:
- Use the handles on the mattress for relocation purposes only, such as moving from a bed to a storage room.
- Do not use the handles to move a person who is lying on the mattress.
Gaia Acute Stretcher Mattress:
- The sewn-on handles on the Gaia acute stretcher mattress can be used for sideways movement from one bed to another.
Maintenance
To maintain the cleanliness and quality of the mattresses, please follow these guidelines:
- Clean the mattresses according to the provided cleaning instructions.
- Store the mattresses in a suitable storage area when not in use.
Environment and Quality
For proper disposal of the product and information about quality approvals,
please refer to the user manual. The user manual also includes symbols and
abbreviations used throughout the document.

This user manual is intended as a guide for caregivers and other users, as
well as technical personnel during servicing and maintenance of the product.
PURPOSE AND SAFETY
This user manual describes tree types of mattresses – Alpha, Alpha-K with tabs and Gaia acute stretcher. Each with different structure depending on the purpose.
Purpose
The mattresses are intended for use in the health sector for users with risk
of developing pressure ulcers. The structure of the mattresses is such, that
the user becomes depressurized on the best way.
The mattresses must as minimum be loaded with 30 kg and as maximum with 140
kg.
Note! Do not use the product for other purposes than originally intended.
Illustrations and descriptions are applicable for all types of mattresses
unless others are described.
Before the mattresses are used the following must be checked.
- The mattress must fit to the bed.
- The mattress must turn correct, which appears on the label of the mattress.
The height of the top of the side rails above the mattress without compression at least 50% of the length and with the side bar raised in locked position, the height must be at least G = 220 mm.

Safety instructions
Important – Warning!
This user manual must be read thoroughly before the mattresses are taken into
use.
- According to EN 60601-2-52:2010/A1:2015. It must be ensured, that there is minimum 22 cm from the surface of the mattress to the upper edge of the side rail, when this is turned up.
- The weight load of the mattress must not be exceeded.
- The mattress (foam and cover) is built up by flame retardant material, though it is recommended, not to smoke or have open fire nearby.
- Remember to check the user manual of the bed before the mattress is used in the bed.
NOTE
Winncare disclaims all responsibility, if the mattress is changed or composed
in otherwise than described in the user manual.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The cover for the Alpha is equipped with four handles—two on each side. These handles must only be used to relocation of the mattress, e.g. from a bed to a storage room.
Note! The handles on the Alpha mattress must not be used to move a
person, who is lying on the mattress.
The cover for Gaia acute stretcher is equipped with eight handles – four on
each side.
Note! The sewn-on handles on the Gaia acute stretcher may be used for
moving sideways from one bed to another.
The material of the mattresses is flame retardant and approved by EN
597-1:2015 and EN 597-2:2015. The mattresses are produced in Denmark.
Alpha and Alpha-K
The Alpha are made of 6 cm hybrid foam and 5 cm viscoelastic foam.
The hybrid foam in the bottom of the mattress has a high density and helps to
give the mattress a longer live time. The egg tray shape of the viscoelastic
foam ensures optimal lying comfort and gives a good ventilation to the
mattress.
Moreover, the shape gives a unique depressurizing characteristic, which makes
it optimal for the user to lie on.
Alpha:
This mattress has same height along the whole length.
The mattress is approved by oeko-tex.
The alpha mattresses are available in only one model:

Alpha-K with tabs:
Alpha-K with tabs mattresses consists of 9 cm hybrid foam and 5 cm
viscoelastic foam. The tabs are made in hybrid foam. Hybrid foam on the bottom
and on the tabs has a high density and helps the mattress with a longer life
expand.
The egg-tray design of the viscoelastic foam ensures optimum lying comfort and
provides a good ventilation for the mattress.
The outer foam core and the inner foam core are each equipped with a trico,
which allows the inner foam core to adapt to the functions of the bed.
The ability of the inner foam core to move according to the functions of the
bed reduces the risk of shear and friction when using the functions of the
bed.
The outer foam core is equipped with cuts that ensure optimal alignment with
the functions of the bed.
In addition, the design gives a unique pressure-relieving feature which makes it optimal for the user to lie on.
This mattress has same height along the whole length. The mattress is approved by oeko-tex.
The Alpha-K with tabs mattresses is available in four Models:

Gaia acute stretcher
The mattress is made of 5 cm HR-foam and 3 cm VE-foam. The cover is made of
Dakka material in the upper part and the pilot nylon with through sewn straps
in the lower part.
The mattress is approved by oeko-tex.

Extension
- There is a possibility of buying an extension to the mattresses in HR-foam and VE-foam.
- The cover of the extension is provided with 20 cm extra overlap to put under the mattress, so the extension is hold better into place.
- The extension must always be placed at the head end.
Cover
- On all types of mattresses, the cover is an incontinence cover, which ensures, that fluids as e.g., urine and blood is not penetrating to the foam. Between the cover and the foam there is a tricot, which makes it easier to mount and dismount the cover.
- The cover is manufactured in 100 % polyester with a coating of 100 % polyurethane and is allergy friendly.
- The cover is flame retardant after BS crib 5 and crib 7.
- The cover is welded.
- The cover to Alpha and Alpha-K has a zipper on 3 sides with 2,5 cm overlap.
- The cover for the Gaia acute stretcher, has a zipper on just one side.
MAINTENANCE
The cover must be inspected for damages at least once a month. In the circumstance of damage, the cover must not be used, before it is repaired.
Cleaning
The foam in the mattresses must not be cleaned.
- The cover can be washed by 95 °C and be tumbled by low heat – max. 50°C.
- In the daily the cover can be cleaned with an easy moist cloth added normal cleaning products.
- The cover must be dry, before it is pulled on the foam.
Note!
Before the mattress is used by another person, it is recommended to wash the
cover.
Storage
The mattress must be stored by normal indoor temperature (+2 to +40°C) and
by normal humidity (40 – 90%).
The Alpha-K with tabs and Gaia acute stretcher must not be rolled together.
NOTE
The Alpha mattress is usually delivered on a full-length pallet but can also
be delivered as a roll package. If rolled, the mattress must be unpacked no
later than 5 months after the stated production date on the package.
ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
The mattresses have an expected lifetime of 5 years under the assumption that normal maintenance- and care instructions have been followed.
Disposal
Both the mattress and the covers can be disposed on recycling stations. The
disposal can also be done through Winncare.
Quality approvals
Winncare is certified according to the quality standard ISO 9001:2015 and ISO
13485:2016.
These certifications mean that the products and the company comply with the
international standards for quality management and standards for traceability
of medical products.
The mattresses are classified as a medical device, class 1 product.
Symbols and abbreviations
Can be washed by 95°.
Clean in per chlorine, mineral turpentine or similar.
Tumbled by low heat – max. 50°.
Do not tolerate bleaching. Applies to all coloured products.
Do not iron.
