Basic Set Up Instructions

  • Please read this manual carefully before using the Rubyk and keep it for future reference.
  • Please use a standard USB power adapter, 5V/2A.
  • Pictures or diagrams on the instructions are only for reference.
  • We reserve the right to change or modify these instructions at any time without prior notice.

Step 1: Unbox the Ruby . Remove it from the packaging and make sure all the components are included. The components include a Ruby unit, power cable with connector, and user manual.

Step 2: Connect the power cable to the Ruby unit’s micro-USB and to your device(e.g., computer or tablet) or to a certified 5VDC power source (e.g. mobile battery charger).

Step 3: Once the Ruby unit is connected to the power source (device or external charger), the left green light on the unit will blink repeatedly, and after 30-40 second swill remain lit without blinking. At this stage, your Ruby is up and running, reconnect.

Step 4 : Use your device(s) wireless settings to connect your mobile device(s) ( PC, tablet or mobile phone) to your Ruby by searching your Ruby network with the Brunette work name “Ruby – ****” that was assigned to you. Use your assigned Disconnectedness to your Ruby.

Note: If you previously connected your device to your Rubyk, it will connect automatically and you will see it in your device Wi-Fi connection details.

Step 5: The Ruby interface will then present a list of available public/home networks(e.g., hotel, home, coffee shop, train station, airport or any other public Wi-Fi network). Choose the relevant network and use the network credentials (if no passwords required for the network you can leave the password field blank). You may mark particular network as “favorite” so it will be automatically remembered in the future.

Note: If this network is the last network you connected to or marked it as a “favorite”, Rubyk will connect automatically

The green lights will stop blinking, and the appearance of a constant red light confirms that although you are connected to a public network, your surfing is secured, encrypted and safe.

Safety Regulations

  1. Do not expose the Ruby unit to water or moisture.

  2. Do not use the Ruby unit near heat sources.

  3. Do not insert any objects into the Ruby unit.’

  4. When not in use, we recommend disconnecting the Ruby unit fr omits power
    source.

  5. Do not open the Ruby unit case. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

  6. If the Ruby unit is not working properly, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact the manufacturer/distributor for assistance or replacement

Safety Information

  • Ruby Secure Gateway device (the “Product”) must be used in accordance and all applicable international, national and local laws and regulations, andin full compliance with any special restrictions regulating the utilization of the Product in prescribed applications and environments.
  • To prevent possible injury or damage to appliances and to ensure that all the relevant provisions\ have been complied with, use only the original accessories provided. Unauthorized modifications of the accessories provided or utilization of accessories that have not been approved by Communicably result in the termination of the validity of the guarantee.
  • The Product must not be opened.
  • Input Voltage of USB connector should never exceed 5V.
  • The Product is designed for indoor use only and should not be exposedtoextreme ambient conditions. Product should be guarded against dust, moistureand high temperatures.
  • The User needs to observe and comply with the restrictions concerning the utilization of radio devices at petrol stations, in chemical plants or in the midst of blasting works in which explosives are used.
  • The Product must be switched off when traveling by plane.
  • When using the Product in close proximity to personal medical devices, such as cardiac pacemakers or hearing aids, the User must proceed with heightened caution.
  • The User must adhere to the instructions documented in this User’s manual.

Warranty Information

  • IMPORTANT – Please read this warranty carefully to understand theUser’srights and obligations. The term “User” refers either to an individual or alegal entity.
  • Limited Warranty

Ruby comm warrants that the hardware portion of a new Ruby Secure Gateway device (the “Product”) will be free from material defects in workmanship and materials under normal use for a period of 12 months from the date of original purchase of the Product (the “Product Warranty Period”). This warranted only valid and enforceable during the Product Warranty Period and interrelationship the Product is officially sold and will apply only if the unit was purchased from Ruby comm or its authorized resellers.

  • This limited warranty only applies to hardware components (and not the accompanying software) of the Product. The limited warranty shall not applyif:
  1. The Product is damaged by Acts of God, power surges, misuse, negligence, accidents, wear and tear, mishandling, misapplication or other causes unrelated to original manufacturing defects;
  2. The Product has been tampered, the case has been opened or the assembly seal has been removed or damaged;
  3. The Product has been altered or modified or the software has been manipulated;
  4. The Product has been damaged and the damage was caused as a result ofthe use of the Product in conjunction with products not supplier;
  5. The Product has not been installed, operated, repaired or maintained with the instructions supplied by Ruby comm;
  6. The Product has been subject to abnormal physical or electrical stress, misuse, negligence or accident;
  7. The Product is supplied or licensed for beta, evaluation, demonstrativeness purposes;
  8. The Product has been used with a power adapter other than what is specified or designated by Ruby comm.
  • This limited warranty does not guarantee that the use of the Product will be uninterrupted or error-free. The limited warranty is only applicable purchaser of the Product. Proof of purchase and a counterproductive number are required to receive any services guaranteed as part of the limited warranty. If the Product fails to work as warranted above, the User’ sole and exclusive remedy and Ruby comm’s sole liability shall be repair or replacement.
  • If a proof of purchase cannot be provided, the Product Warranty Period start date will be designated by Ruby comm.
  • Any unit of the Product or part thereof that is replaced by Ruby comm, or for which the purchase price is refunded, shall become the property upon such replacement or refund
  • Limited Warranty:

To the extent not prohibited by law, all expressed or implied conditions, representations and warranties, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of merchant ability, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, are disclaimed. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which jurisdictional to jurisdiction. Where any term of this warranty is prohibitionists, it shall not apply, but the remainder of the warranty terms shall painfuller force and effect if its allocation of risks is not materially disturbed.

  • Limitation of Liability

To the extent not prohibited by law: (a) in no event will Currycomb enforceable loss of data, revenues or profits, or for special, indirect, consequential, incidental or punitive damages, regardless of the theory of liability (including negligence), arising out of or related to the use of or inability to use the Product(including any software component thereof), even if Rubycommhas advisement the possibility of such losses or damages; and (b) Currycomb’s maximum liability hereunder is expressly limited to the lesser of the price you overpaid the Product or the cost of repair or replacement of any hardware components that malfunction under normal use. The foregoing limitations will apply evening warranty or remedy provided hereunder fails in its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations of liability set out above, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply.

  • Limited Software Warranty:

Ruby comm warrants that the software component of the Product (the“Software”) will substantially conform to Currycomb’s then current functional specifications for the Software, as set forth in the applicable documentation, from the date of original retail purchase of the Software and for a periodofninety (90) days (the “Software Warranty Period”), provided that the Software installed on approved hardware and operated as stipulatedinitsdocumentation. The User’s sole and exclusive remedy and the entire liabilityofRubycomm and/or its suppliers hereunder during the Software Warranty Period, will be, at Rubycomm’s option, to replace the non-conforming Software(ordefective media) with software that substantially conforms to Rubycomm’sfunctional specifications for the Software or to refund the portion of theactual purchase price paid that is attributable to the Software. Except as otherwiseagreed by Rubycomm in writing, the replacement Software is providedonlytothe original licensee; and is subject to the terms and conditions of thelicensegranted by Rubycomm for the Software. Replacement Software will be warrantedfor the remainder of the original Software Warranty Period and is subject tothesame limitations and exclusions. If, during the Software Warranty Period, amaterial non-conformance is incapable of correction, or if Rubycommdeterminesat its sole discretion that it is not practical to replace the non-conformingSoftware, the price paid by the original licensee for the non-conforming Softwarewill be refunded by Rubycomm; provided that the non-conforming Software(and all copies thereof) is first returned to Rubycomm. The license grantedfor anySoftware for which a refund is given is automatically terminated.

FCC Compliance Statement

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

  1. This device may not cause harmful interference, and
  2. This device must accept any interference received, including interference cause undesired operation.

Warning: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits redesigned to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference nonresidential installation. This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different fro that to which the receiver is connected.

Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

FCC Radiation Exposure Statement:
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance 20cm between the radiator & your body.
