Setting Up

The LM58 has a simple and intuitive setup procedure with flexible configuration options to suit your specific application. A single receiver can pair with up to 2 transmitters to enable 2-way presentations, such as interviewer and interviewee with a separate transmitter each. It is advised to charge the transmitter and receiver fully (2 hours each) from USB before first use. Connect a standard 5VDC USB charger to the USB-C connector on each unit for recharging. The receiver shows charge status via a battery symbol with a bar graph on the colour display. The transmitter has a green charge indicator, which flashes when the battery is low, lights continuously during charging, and goes off when fully charged.

Once fully charged, disconnect from USB power and power on each unit by pressing the Power button for 1 second. The transmitter may already be paired as “TX1” to the receiver, in which case, the blue pairing indicator will light continuously. If not paired, the pairing indicator will flash, and the pairing procedure will need to be initiated within the receiver settings menu (see below). A 3.5mm stereo jack lead is provided for connecting the LM58-R receiver to a 3.5mm mic input on a camera or other 3.5mm stereo mic input. This 3.5mm output can also be used as a line output to connect to mixers, recorders, or sound cards, which may require a 3.5mm stereo lead with different connector(s) on the other end.

For digital audio output, the USB-C port on the receiver may be connected to a PC Mac computer or even a smartphone for direct feed into a recording application. The LM58-T transmitter has an inbuilt condenser microphone with an omnidirectional pickup pattern. Alternatively, the transmitter has a mono 3.5mm jack which can accept a lavalier or headset microphone and provides 3V phantom power voltage for condenser types. Connecting a microphone to this input will override the inbuilt condenser microphone.

Receiver Menu

The LM58-R receiver has a settings menu which is shown via several pages on its 25mm TFT colour display. The main screen shows the signal and charge status of a connected transmitter(s) with the mic level(s) shown as a bar display. At the bottom, the receiver charge status, output mode and volume are displayed. Other menu pages will return to this screen after 40 seconds of inactivity.

Pairing

The LM58-T transmitter pairing indicator is lit continuously when paired, or flashes when not paired. To enter pairing mode, hold down the Pair button for 5 seconds and the indicator will double flash. On the LM58-R receiver, press the SET+ button to enter the settings menu and the first page is for pairing transmitters. Briefly pressing (short press) the SET+ button again steps through other menu pages. Hold SET+ for 1 second (long press) to edit the settings on any of these pages. Alternatively, from the main screen, pressing both SET+ and SET– together simultaneously can toggle the mode between Mono and Stereo modes.

The next menu page is to set the output volume of the receiver, which can be selected from -28dB to +8dB in 4dB increments. Long press SET+ to select the current volume setting and short press SET+/- to adjust this value. Press and hold SET+ again to exit the volume setting menu. Alternatively, long pressing SET+ or SET- from the main screen will also set the output volume in 4dB increments.

In this case, it will be necessary to scroll through the menus until the section with the following symbols. Highlight this text and select to change to English.

Backlight

The display backlight can be set to dim to save battery charge. The next menu page after Language is to set this value, which can be set to On (continuous), 10s, 30s or 60s. The number values represent how many seconds the display stays at full brightness without any settings activity before dimming. The next page in the menu returns to the main screen.
