Operating Instructions

Attach Fishing Weight
Attach a fishing weight to the weight snap located on the bottom of the fishing light. The weight will help submerge the light in water. Using a lighter weight allows you to adjust the depth of the fishing light.

Note: The weight required to fully submerge the fishing light depends on the model:

  • Model 800-1516-0 requires a 4 oz. weight.
  • Model 800-1518-0 requires an 8 oz. weight.

Secure the Security Line
Tie the security line to the weight snap loop located on the bottom of the fishing light. Run the security line along the 16′ light cord and secure it in various places using the provided plastic tie wraps.

Warning: Always use the security line and plastic tie wraps to secure the fishing light to your boat or dock. The battery clips attached to the battery terminals will not secure the fishing light adequately.

Warning: If your boat is inboard, activate the blower to remove combustible fumes before connecting the light.

Warning: Keep the battery clips dry and out of water at all times.

Connect the Battery
Connect the battery clips to the appropriate battery terminals. Ensure a proper and secure connection.

Lower the Fishing Light
Lower the fishing light into the water to your desired depth. Use the security line to secure the light to your boat or dock.

Warning: Do not attempt to make your own repairs or adjustments to the fishing light.

  • Keep battery clips dry and out of water at all times.
  • Do not operate the fishing light if there is water in the globe or if the light bubbles when placed in water. Fog inside the globe without the presence of water is normal.
  • Do not allow children to handle or operate this fishing light.
  • Do not operate in close proximity of combustible or flammable materials.
  • Do not attempt to operate the fishing light if cord, plug, bulb, lens or any part of the light is damaged or corroded.
  • Prior to connecting the fishing light to the battery of an inboard boat, the blower must be activated to remove combustible fumes.
  • Always use the security line and plastic tie wraps to secure the fishing light to boat or dock. Battery clips attached to battery terminals will not secure the fishing light.
  • Do not attempt to make your own repairs or adjustments.
  • Do not use this product for other than its intended use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS OWNER’S MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING UNDERWATER FISHING LIGHT.

  1. Step 1: Attach a fishing weight to weight snap on bottom of fishing light to submerge in water. Using lighter weight will allow you to adjust the depth of the fishing light.
    NOTE : Weight required to fully submerge fishing light in water:

  2. Model 800-1516-0 – 4 oz.

  3. Model 800-1518-0 – 8 oz.

  4. Step 2: Tie the security line to weight snap loop on bottom of fishing light. Run the security line along the 16’ light cord and secure in various places using plastic tie wraps. WARNING : Always use security line and plastic tie wraps to secure fishing light to boat or dock. Battery clips attached to battery terminals will not secure fishing light.

  5. Step 3: Turn the engine off before placing light in water. To activate, connect red clip to positive (+) battery post, then connect the black clip to negative (–) battery post, chassis or engine block.
    WARNING : If boat is inboard, the blower must be activated to remove combustible fumes prior to connecting light.
    WARNING : Keep battery clips dry and out of water at all times.

  6. Step 4: Lower fishing light into water to desired depth, secure light to boat or dock using the security line.

  7. Step 5: To deactivate, remove black clip from negative (–) battery post, chassis or engine block, then remove the red clip from positive (+) battery post.
    WARNING : Do not attempt to make your own repairs or adjustments.

Helpful Tips

  • Cover the battery clips with a light coating of marine-grade grease to help protect metal parts from corrosion.
  • Hang your fishing light above picnic table, campsite or work area for use as an area light. A green light will not attract bugs.

ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

For one-year from date of purchase, The Brinkmann Corporation warrants the Underwater Fishing Light against defects due to workmanship or materials to the original purchaser. The Brinkmann Corporation’s obligations under this warranty are limited to the following guidelines:

  • This warranty does not extend to the bulb.
  • This warranty does not cover lights that have been altered or damaged due to: normal wear, abuse, improper maintenance, improper use, disassembly of parts and/or attempted repair by anyone other than an authorized employee of The Brinkmann Corporation.
  • This warranty does not cover surface scratches or weathering as this is considered normal wear.
  • Warranty service is limited to repair or replacement of lights that prove defective under normal use and which upon examination shall indicate to Brinkmann’s satisfaction, they are defective. If Brinkmann confirms the defect and approves the claim, Brinkmann will elect to repair or replace the light as covered by the terms of this warranty.
  • This warranty extends to the original purchaser only and is not transferable or assignable to subsequent purchasers.

The Brinkmann Corporation requires reasonable proof of purchase. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you retain your sales receipt or invoice. To obtain repair or replacement of your Underwater Fishing Light under the terms of this warranty, please call the Customer Service Department at 1-800-527-0717 for a Return Authorization Number and further instructions.  A receipt will be required. A Return Authorization Number must be clearly marked on the outside of the box. Underwater Fishing Lights returned to Brinkmann must include your name, address, and telephone number. Please make sure the light is properly packed, postage prepaid, and insured. The Brinkmann Corporation will not be responsible for any Underwater Fishing Lights forwarded to us without a Return Authorization Number.

EXCEPT AS ABOVE STATED, THE BRINKMANN CORPORATION MAKES NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY. THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO 1-YEAR FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
ANY LIABILITY FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE FAILURE OF THE UNDERWATER FISHING LIGHT TO COMPLY WITH THIS WARRANTY OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY IS EXCLUDED. THE CUSTOMER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE PURCHASE PRICE CHARGED IS BASED UPON THE LIMITATIONS CONTAINED IN THE WARRANTY SET OUT ABOVE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
