Oh’Care Lite Blood Glucose Monitoring System User Guide – Provided by Vitale Health

Part 1 – Using the Meter

Product package

The Oh’Care Lite kit includes a lancing device, lancets, test strips, and a blood glucose meter.

PRODUCT USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Open the battery cover on the back of the meter.

  • Insert the battery with the plus symbol + facing up.

  • Close the battery cover.

  • Open the bottle of Oh’Care Lite test strips. Take out 1 test strip. Close the bottle. Insert the test strip in the slot at the top of the Oh’Care Lite meter, as shown below. Always use genuine Oh’Care test strips with the O’Care Lite meter.

  • After you insert the test strip, make sure you see code number “125” on the meter corresponding to code number “125” on the bottle.
  • Press an index finger to the tip of the lancing device. Press the button on the lancing device. The lancet will stick the finger. Squeeze a small drop of blood from the finger.
  • Wait for the meter to display the blinking blood icon, as shown in the picture below. Touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood. Blood will be sucked into the test strip. Do not drip blood onto the test strip. Later wash your hands with soap and water.
  • After a few seconds, the blood glucose number will appear on the meter. The blood glucose level is shown in mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter). The blood glucose level can vary from person to person. For one person it can vary during the day, for many reasons. Contact a health care professional if you have any questions about the blood glucose level. Slide the white button on the back of the meter to eject the test strip. Dispose of the test strip properly. Do not re-use the test strip.

Part 2 – Using the Lancing Device

  • Unscrew and remove the lancing device cover. Insert a lancet into the lancing device as shown below.ijCare-Lite-Blood-Glucose-Monitoring-System-FIG- \(8\)
  • Grasp and twist the lancet cover to remove it. Put the cover back on the lancing device. Rotate the tip of the lancing device until the desired number 1 2 3 4 or 5 appears in the little window on the side of the lancing device.ijCare-Lite-Blood-Glucose-Monitoring-System-FIG- \(9\)
  • You can rotate the tip of the lancing device to the left or right. Numbers 1 2 3 4 5 are displayed in the little window as you rotate the tip. Number 1 indicates the shortest needle length. Number 5 indicates the longest needle length. Use the lowest number that will produce a drop of blood when the lancet sticks your finger.
  • Pull out the gray button on the end of the lancing device. Release the button. Press an index finger to the tip of the lancing device. Press the button in the side of the lancing device. The lancet will stick the patient’s finger.   • Rotate and remove the tip of the lancing device. Slide the gray button on the side of the lancing device and pull the gray button on the end of the lancing device. The lancet will drop out. TROUBLESHOOTING

How to interpret messages you may see on the blood glucose meter.

Hardware is defective. Reboot the meter by removing and then replacing the

battery while no test strip is inserted. Contact customer support if the problem persists.
| The test strip may be contaminated or reused.| Please, insert a new glucose test strip and perform your test again.
| An insufficient amount of blood sample is placed on the test strip.| Please insert a new glucose test strip and apply the blood sample and confirm the window is completely filled.
| The blood glucose test strip is damaged.| Please insert a new glucose test strip and perform your test again.
| A blood sample is placed on the test strip before the symbol for blood blinks.| Wait for the meter to display the blinking blood icon before applying your blood sample.
| 1. The color area of the test strip is dirty, defective or there is too much sunlight. 2. Inserting another brand of test strip in the meter.| 1. Please insert a new glucose test strip and perform your test again, or if it blinks with “sun”, avoid direct sunlight and retest. 2. Please insert the correct glucose test strip.
| The test result is over 600mg/dL.| The test should be repeated to ensure that the procedure was done correctly. If you are certain the testing procedure and the blood glucose is still indicating consistently measured as “HI”, the result may indicate severe hyperglycemia (high blood glucose). You should inform your Healthcare Professional immediately.
| The test result is lower than 20 mg/dL (1.1mmol/L)| If “LO” appears on the LCD screen for the Glucose result, the measured concentration is below 20mg/dL. The test should be repeated to ensure that the test was done correctly. If you are certain the meter is functioning correctly no errors were made during the testing procedure and the blood glucose is still consistently measured as “LO”, the result may indicate severe hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). You should inform your Healthcare Professional immediately.
