Family-Owned and Operated Retailer Enters Another Year with Continued Growth and Expansion
Glenview, Ill. (April 26, 2024) — Abt Electronics, the largest independent retailer of electronics, appliances and home goods in the nation, is celebrating a remarkable 88 years in business . Founded in 1936, Abt has grown from a small radio shop to a retail destination known for its exceptional customer service, vast product selection and commitment to sustainability. Going into its 88th year, the retailer shows no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year, Abt debuted a renovated Time Store, one of its boutiques focusing on watches and timepiece accessories, complete with a new and improved layout, new lighting, cases and displays. Abt also announced that it will be renovating and adding 41,316 sq. ft. to its second floor showroom. The project aims to accommodate Abt’s growing furniture and mattress department and is slated for completion by the end of the year.
With sustainability remaining a pillar for the company, in the past year, Abt saved 4.6 million pounds of cardboard and paper, over 600,000 pounds of Styrofoam and over 22 million pounds of appliances and 1.4 million pounds of electronics from going to the landfills.
