  1. Traffic Jam Assist on the R-Line is a camera and radar sensor-controlled warning system that helps you keep your distance in congested traffic and avoid a typical congestion-type collision.
  2. Front Cross Traffic Assist on the R-Line uses radar technology to detect vehicles or pedestrians approaching from the side, providing invaluable assistance in the case of blind exits and junctions, where you have to ‘nose out’ slowly to see what’s coming.
  3. Front Assist with City Emergency Braking System monitors the traffic situation in front of your car, warning you when you get too close and even applying the brakes to help avoid collision.
  4. Area view provides a 360-degree display of your Touareg in the infotainment display, transmitting information via four cameras to the front, the sides and the rear.
  5. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts your speed to that of the vehicle in front, ensuring you keep a specified distance.
  6. Park Assist Plus allows you to drive fully automatically into parallel and perpendicular parking bays both forwards and backward instead of just semi-automatically. As soon as the Touareg recognizes a suitable parking space, the driver presses and holds the Park Assist button (Drive button) – and the parking maneuvers start. For this purpose, the Touareg uses a total of twelve ultrasound sensors and the four cameras of the Area View system (at the front and rear and in the exterior mirrors). For the camera images, Volkswagen makes use of progressive sensor fusion, which significantly increases the accuracy of object detection.
  7. Lane Assist makes use of cameras to monitor lane markings to ensure that the Touareg stays in its lane. If the Touareg is veering out of its lane yet there is no input from the direction indicators to signal any intended lane change, Lane Assist automatically intervenes by gently correcting the steering to keep the Touareg in line.
  8. The Proactive occupant protection system uses the sensors from the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Front Assist traffic monitoring system to detect critical situations with elevated accident potential.
