Field of use
- The SCOLIO Walker KINETEC® allows suspension by a cranial halo to allow the patient to move freely.
Indications / Contraindications
- Only the practitioner can determine the protocol adapted to the patient.
- The SCOLIO should not be used by patients with balance problems.
- The SCOLIO should not be used by patients with too little muscle mass to be able to stand up or walk.
- The SCOLIO should not be used by patients with psychological disorders.
- Maximum patient weight: 100kg. Maximum patient height: 190cm.
- Maximum suspension weight: 20kg

Cleaning
Regularly clean the SCOLIO Walker using a damp cloth and mild detergent. Ensure all parts are dry before storage.

Warnings and safety instructions
- Before using the SCOLIO Walker, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of this manual. This manual contains instructions for general use and guarantees improved safety.
- Any serious incident that has occurred about the device should be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and/or the patient is established.
- During assembly:
- The KINETEC® system should not be used with traction frame components from other brands.
- Before use:
- Before any use, ensure that the patient’s weight is compatible with the safety operating load of the SCOLIO Walker.
- Before any use and at least every week, check that the fixing screws are secure and the general condition of the accessories (using the wrench (L) provided).
- Regularly check the level of wear on the wheels, check that they are working properly, and ensure that no debris could get stuck inside.
- Weights must be positioned only in the guide column and correctly installed on the weight carrier column.
- Under no circumstances should weights be fixed above the patient.
- Never change the amount of weight while the patient is suspended.
- During movements/manipulations of the SCOLIO Walker:
- Particular attention must be paid when travelling on slopes, slippery floors, or uneven surfaces.
- Do not attempt to go up or down stairs.
- The 4 wheels must always be in contact with the ground.
- Don’t go backwards.
- Block the wheels during a prolonged stop.
- Do not ride on the walker.
- Make sure that no external element can hit the SCOLIO Walker. (Light strip, lighting, TV, indication signs, etc.).
- Do not use the walker in a shower or outside in case of rain or excessive humidity.
- Please be careful when passing doors and elevator entrances.
- Improper use may cause injury to the patient or equipment damage
Assembly / Use
- It is recommended that two people be present when assembling the SCOLIO Walker.
- Unpack all parts.
- Follow the assembly procedure on page 2:
- Lock the 4 casters using the integrated brakes.
- Brake disabled
- Brake activated
- Position the right foot on the ground.
- Position the mast.
- Position the crossbar.
- Position the 3 screws/washers without tightening completely.
- Position the left foot.
- Position the 3 screws/washers without tightening completely.
- Straighten this set.
- Tighten the 6 screws/washers correctly using the key (L) provided (Do not lose this key).
- Position the right handle, then fix it at the height of your choice using the white clamp roller.
- Position the left handle, then fix it at the height of your choice using the white clamp roller.
- The handles can be installed differently to facilitate patient mobility and change the position of the white clamp roller.
- Position the stem, be careful it is heavy, and control its descent. Then lock in the desired position using the clip pin provided.
- When changing height, continually hold the stem so as not to let it slip.
- Position the weight holder column inside the guide tube.
- Position the desired quantity of weight before insertion into the tube, maximum weight on the column: 20kg.
- Be careful with handling which can be delicate.
- Do not, under any circumstances, change the amount of weight while the patient is in suspension.
- Tie a figure eight knot at the end of the rope supplied with the SCOLIO, do not use another rope.
- Position the rope passing through the two pulleys. The end pulley can be placed differently to improve patient comfort.
- The SCOLIO can be used for patients up to 190cm tall. Be careful when passing through doors and elevators.
- The SCOLIO can be pushed or pulled depending on the patient’s ease.
- The SCOLIO is wide enough to allow the patient to sit on a stool.
Cleaning
- Clean the SCOLIO Walker between each patient.
- Use a DISINFECTANT (PROPANOL/ISOPROPANOL or ALDEHYDE-based solution). Spray the disinfectant on the SURFACES (plastic and metal components).
- We advise you to pay particular attention to the articulations and holding-back zones like the screws and bolts.
- To ensure optimal hygiene, it is recommended to change the rope after each patient, as it cannot be cleaned.
Elimination and recycling
- Packaging: the packaging must be separated from plastic components and paper/cardboard and placed in specific recycling locations.
- Device: it contains metal, aluminium, plastics, and cables.
- When the device is no longer operational, dismantle it and separate the parts into groups of materials and deliver them to authorised recycling units or return the device to KINETIC SAS for destruction.
- Or contact the local authorities to determine the suitable method to dispose of the parts and accessories that are potentially hazardous to the environment.
Warranty
The KINETEC® warranty is strictly limited to the replacement free of charge or repair in the plant of the component or components found to be defective. Kinetec SAS guarantees its SCOLIO Walker for 2 years against all defects of manufacture from the date of purchase by the consumer. Kinetec SAS is the only organisation able to assess the application of the warranty to its systems. The warranty will be considered null and void if the device has been used abnormally or under conditions of use other than those indicated in the user’s manual. The warranty will also be considered null and void in the event of deterioration or an accident due to negligence, inappropriate surveillance, inappropriate maintenance, or due to transformation of the equipment or an attempt to repair the equipment.
