For your safety, comply strictly with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage. KRATOS SAFETY cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring as a result of use other than provided for in this user manual; do not use this equipment beyond its capabilities! The user is responsible for the risks to which he is exposed. People who do not assume their responsibilities should not use this product. Before using this equipment, you must read and understand all usage instructions in this guide.

USE AND PRECAUTIONS

The beam anchor trolley is a temporary and transportable anchor point (EN795: 2012 Type B), it is intended to be used where a metal beam constitutes an adequate anchor structure. It must be installed on a beam strong enough to withstand a load applied in the direction of use, at least 12 kN for a user. It is provided with 4 wheels and thus follows the user during its displacement along the metal beam without additional action required by the user.

1 Anchor webbing / Anchor D-Ring
2 Snaps buttons / Locking Screw (x2)
3 Support bar with adjusting system
4 Mobile plates (x2)
5 Wheels (x4)

Installation

Unscrew the 2 locking screws (fig. 1), press the 2 snap buttons (fig. 2) and open the mobile plates at the maximum (fig. 3). Put the beam anchor under the beam soleplate (fig. 4) and adjust the distance of the mobile plates so that the 4 wheels be as much in contact as possible with the beam soleplate. The shoulder of the wheels must not be supported on the beam soleplate. During this operation, ensure that the anchor webbing/D-Ring remains placed in the middle of the two mobile plates. Once in position, release the snaps buttons (Fig. 5) and lock the adjustment by tightening the locking screw. While using, make sure that the mobile plates and locking screws remain duly in position and locked. It is recommended to ensure that the steel beams are equipped with end stops to prevent the anchor to leave the beam unintentionally. Ensure that the beam anchor is installed directly above the user’s head. It is recommended that the installation of this anchor point be supervised by a qualified person. In any case, connections between the attachment D-Ring and the fall arrest system will have to be made through a connector (EN362) (Fig. 6). During the use, please check regularly that the connector is correctly closed. Make sure that the work is done in such a way as to limit the pendulum effect, as well as the risk and the height of a fall. For safety reasons and before each use, make sure that in the event of a fall there is no obstacle obstructing the normal deployment of the fall arrest system fixed on this anchor point. User safety relies on the effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet. Product marking should be checked periodically for legibility. This equipment is for the use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person. A rescue plan shall be in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise during the work. Warning! Certain medical conditions may affect user safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor. Pay attention to risks which can reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the safety of the user, if it is exposed to extreme temperatures (< -30°C or > 50°C), prolonged climatic exposure (UV , humidity), to chemical reagents, to electrical conductivity, to trailing or looping of fall arrest system to sharp edges, abrasion or cuts, Before each use, check that the metal beam anchor has no traces of cracks, deformation, or oxidation. Pay a particular attention to the attachment D-Ring and its webbing. Check the good working of the locking screw. Product markings must remain legible. In the event of doubt regarding the condition of the device, or after a fall, the product must not be reused, should be withdrawn from service (marking it with the words “DO NOT USE” is recommended) and must be returned to the manufacturer or to a qualified person appointed by the manufacturer

Do not remove, add or replace any component of the product.

Chemical products: put the system out of use if it comes into contact with chemical products, solvents or fuels which could affect its workings.

KRATOS SAFETY certifies that the metal beam anchor has been tested in accordance with the standard EN 795:2012 Type B.

SUITABILITY FOR USE:

The device is for use with a fall arrest system as defined in the product data sheet (see standard EN363) to guarantee that the dynamic force exerted on the user during the arrest of a fall is no greater than 6 kN. A fall arrest harness (EN361) is the only body gripping device that may be used. It may be dangerous to create one’s own fall arrest system where each safety function can interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is important to read the recommendations on using each component in the system before use.

VERIFICATION:

Service life of the product is 10 years (in accordance with the annual examination by a competent person authorized by KRATOS SAFETY), but it may be increased or reduced according to use and/or the results of the annual inspections. The equipment should be inspected if there is any doubt, or following a fall and at least annually, by the manufacturer or a competent person authorised by the manufacturer to check its strength and hence the user’s safety. The product data sheet should be completed (by writing) after each verification; date of inspection and date of next inspection must be indicated on the data sheet, it is also recommended to put date of next inspection on the product.

SERVICING AND STORAGE

(Comply strictly with these instructions)
During transport, keep the product in its packaging, well away from any cutting surface; clean it with water, wipe it with a rag and hang it up in a well-ventilated location, to let it dry naturally and away from a naked flame or heat source; follow the same procedure for components that have become damp during use. The system must be stored in its packaging in a dry, well aired place protected from extremes of temperature.
