WARNING!
Before installation Clean the IMS Tank interior thoroughly. Install this fuel
tank ONLY in a well-ventilated area, as gasoline fumes are EXTREMELY
dangerous. DO NOT START OR OPERATE THE VEHICLE IF THERE ARE ANY FUEL LEAKS!
IMS recommends installation be performed by a licensed mechanic. Improper
installation may lead to Severe Bodily Injury or Death.
Read all instructions before installation.
TANK REMOVAL
- Drain the fuel from your stock tank into an approved gasoline container.
- Remove the seat and then the rubber tank strap.
- Remove the shrouds and the screw holding the mount at the front of the tank.
- Pick the tank up off the frame to disconnect the fuel line and power cable from the EFI pump.
- When the tank is empty, remove the EFI pump taking note of the order of washers and sleeves on attachment screws.
- Store the OEM O-ring & Dust Seal from a pump in a sealed container with the OEM fuel tank.
- IMS application only requires one O-ring and it is supplied in a tank hardware kit.
TANK INSTALLATION
- Mount supplied “CR-29” bracket to IMS tank seat hook location using (2) 6 x 12mm, large flange bolts.
- Remove the OEM pump sealing ring and dust seal, then fit the IMS supplied “9464K156” O-ring onto the EFI pump assembly. Install pump assembly into IMS fuel tank following this sequence: Pump, flat metal pump flange, IMS provided flat washers, OEM spring washers, OEM aluminium sleeves then the OEM stopper cable guide. Bolt the entire assembly down using the (6) IMS-provided 6×16 flange bolts.
- Next attach the “SB24-2” mounting bracket at the location in front of the tank where the OEM tank is fastened, just below the steering head. Use the supplied (1) 6 x 12mm large flange bolt, then mount the bracket to the frame The side with the rubber grommet should attach to the frame using (1) 6 x 25mm, large flange bolt with ¼” x 1” flat washer
- Frame rail grommets must be positioned to align with recessed areas in IMS tank bottom. Attach rubber bumper “9540k34” using (1) 6 x 16mm button head bolt and (1) 6mm washer to frame near the right rear of the tank.
- Connect fuel line and power cable to EFI pump assembly.
- Place the IMS tank onto a frame, attach the “CR-28” L bracket to the left rear of the tank and your frame using (2) 6x16mm large flange bolts pushing down while tightening. the slotted portion of the bracket should be installed to the tank
Replace OEM shroud bolts by using (4) plastic collars & (4) 5x12mm bolts onto IMS Tank. (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).
- Install seat. Push the OEM vent hose onto the vent nipple of IMS gas cap.
- Be sure that the tank is mounted securely and does not bind or in any way inhibit the controls or function of the vehicle.
- Ensure that there are no sharp objects or other items that rub against the tank which may eventually damage or puncture the tank.
- Check tank to engine clearance. Fill the fuel tank and install the IMS gas cap. CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS. NO LEAKS. ENJOY YOUR RIDE!!
