PLACEMENT ASPECTS
Ideally, every room in the house has at least one smoke alarm, especially bedrooms and hallways. If a room is longer than 10 meters, it is necessary to install smoke alarms at both ends. In stairwells, the ceiling is the most ideal point, while in the case of cellars or basements, the part of the ceiling is close to the entrance, mostly the area above the stairs. Attention! It may happen that the smoke generated in the more distant part of the building does not reach the detector in time to warn the householders (e.g. due to closed doors). The smoke alarm does not immediately indicate a fire unless it starts in the room where it is placed. It does not detect heat, gas, flame or light, only visible combustion products in the air!
To avoid false alarms, DO NOT PLACE
- in a place where smoke or steam may naturally be present (e.g. kitchen),
- near a smoking area,
- in places with high humidity (e.g. bathrooms, around washing machines and dryers), it is recommended to keep the device at least 3 meters away from such and similar disturbing sources!
- a distance of at least 1 meter is required next to cooling or heating devices and fans!
- into the garage, due to the exhaust gas generated there,
- to places exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations, or to rooms with temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C,
- into a particularly dirty, dusty atmosphere, because this can lead to contamination and failure of the optical sensor!
- If you frequently detect false alarms, find a new, suitable location for the device!
DEVICE POSITIONING
The smoke detector can be mounted on the ceiling. Its ideal location is the
centre of the ceiling or a point close to it. If this is not possible, make
sure that you do not place it in a corner, that it is at least 70 cm away from
them, and that you leave a distance of at least 50 cm from the side walls when
installing the device! Leave a distance of at least 150 cm from various
lights, exhaust fans, air conditioners, and other air inlets/outlets. Do not
place the device in the bathroom or other places where water can easily come
in contact with it. Do not place the device higher than 3 meters. Can only be
used in dry, indoor conditions!
INSTALLATION
You can install the device in the desired place using the included adhesive disk or screws. If you were to fasten the device with the included adhesive disk: Attach the supplied double-sided adhesive disc to the installation location of the device. Attach the device support bracket to the adhesive disc. Place the device on the support bracket, then secure it by turning it clockwise. After installation, press the test button to check that the smoke alarm is working properly. If you experience an abnormality, replace the device.
If you fix the device with screws
Place the device’s support bracket in the installation location and mark where
the holes should be drilled. Drill two holes with a diameter of 4 mm. (The
distance between them is 32 millimetres). Insert the dowels into the holes.
Insert the screws on the support bracket, then screw them into the dowels and
tighten them firmly. Place the smoke alarm on the mounting bracket and secure
it by twisting it clockwise. After installation, press the test button to
check that the smoke alarm is working properly. If you experience an
abnormality, replace the device.
- Dowel size: M4x20
- Screw size: M2.6×20
SMOKE ALARM AND MUTING
In standby mode, an LED light that flashes approximately every 40 seconds shows the device’s operational status. When smoke is detected, the device emits a strong intermittent sound signal until the source of danger ceases, and during the alarm period, the red LED flashes continuously. In the event of a false alarm (e.g. cigarette smoke), do not deactivate the device until the alarm stops by itself.
During an alarm, the device’s sound signal can be muted after a few seconds by long pressing the test button on the device. The red LED light still indicates the fact of the alarm! After 9 minutes, if the smoke concentration is still above the alarm value, the device will alarm again with sound and light. Attention! It is not guaranteed that the smoke alarm will be able to warn everyone involved in all cases. A strong beep can be drowned out by other noise, e.g. listening to music. It cannot warn a person under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
To minimize the danger that has arisen, you must be aware of the alarm immediately and react to it quickly and appropriately. The source of danger must be identified and, in case of danger to life, you must escape from the building! When putting it into use, explain to the family members what they should do in the event of an alarm, and determine the possible escape routes in advance. If necessary, crawl on the floor as smoke fills the upper airspace first. Do not open a hot door! Stay calm and leave the building as soon as possible, then call the fire department! This device does not have a professional fail-safe design and does not guarantee life-saving in the event of a fire. It does not replace other expected precautions and the conclusion of standard insurance. This is the task of the residents!
TEST FUNCTION
It is recommended to check the flawless functionality of the device weekly,
but at least monthly, even if the regularly flashing LED light shows the
normal operating mode. The button on the side of the device is suitable for
checking the full operation of the device. Do not test using any other method,
e.g. by blowing in cigarette smoke! In this case, the sensor may become
permanently dirty! By firmly pressing the button, in the event of perfect
operation, 3 strong intermittent beeps are heard and the LED light flashes
continuously, after which the device will automatically shut down after a
short time. If you notice an abnormality on the device or if the deadline
indicated on the product has expired, replace the device.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Depending on the condition of the device, it may be necessary to remove dust and dirt from the device at least once a month. To do this, remove it from the back panel and clean the device and the air opening using a soft brush or cloth. After cleaning, immediately put the device back on its back and check its correct operation by pressing the test button. Never use detergents or solvents to clean the device. Do not paint the device. The paint can block the air openings and adversely affect the operation of the smoke alarm. Never attempt to disassemble, modify or clean the unit from the inside.
DISPOSAL
Waste equipment must be collected and disposed of separately from household
waste because it may contain components hazardous to the environment or
health. Used or waste equipment may be dropped off free of charge at the point
of sale, or at any distributor that sells equipment of identical nature and
function. Dispose of products at a facility specializing in the collection of
electronic waste. By doing so, you will protect the environment as well as the
health of others and yourself. If you have any questions, contact the local
waste management organization. We shall undertake the tasks pertinent to the
manufacturer as prescribed in the relevant regulations and shall bear any
associated costs arising.
DISPOSING OF ALKALINE AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
Batteries, whether alkaline or rechargeable, must not be handled together with
regular household waste. It is the legal obligation of the product’s user to
dispose of batteries at a nearby collection centre or a retail shop. This
ensures that the batteries are ultimately neutralized in an environment-
friendly way.
