Introduction

The time-honoured Fastax needs no introduction to the world of PhotoInstrumentation. For over 30 years the word Fastax has been synonymous with High Speed Photography. The key factors in its longevity are simplicity and reliability. The new generation Fastax 11 retains the traditional Fastax benefits while integrating the improvements made possible by current technology. Design changes have been carefully human-engineered to simplify operation and to enhance overall performance. The result is a modern and rugged 16mm High Speed rotating prism camera designed for daily use in outdoor test condition environments

Features

Features Include

  • AC or DC operation
  • Built-in Electronic Servo Control with speeds up to 10,000 FR/SEC.
  • 100′ model designed for high-g environments
  • High light transmission, f/2.7 aperture
  • Dual LED Timing Lights
  • Built-in Timing Light Generator
  • Built-in Event Synchronizer
  • Stop/Start operation
  • Light weight construction
  • Interchangeable Lens Plates
  • Provision for top & bottom mounting

The new generation Fastax II is available in 100′ and 400′ models with a choice of various

  • AC or DC models in full or half-frame formats. The 400-foot camera incorporates the film supply brake system and motor drive which has been so successful in the HYCAM for handling 400 foot film rolls.

The optical system utilizes the original Fastax single prism element principle which is designed to furnish maximum practical light transmission efficiency. This makes the Fastax II especially well suited for outdoor filming where sunlight provides the principal illumination. The Fastax I l’s rotating prism/sprocket modules are interchangeable. This allows conversion to half- frame or streak configuration in all cameras. New gearing and sprocket design provide improved picture stability and are lubricated for life. Built-in electronic control provides regulation over the camera’s entire speed range. Conveniently located direct reading digit switches control frame rate and event synchronizer. A ready light indicates thathe camera is ready to

  • operate. Provision for remote START/STOP control is built-in. Other controls include an ON-OFF switch, film remaining indicator and .., oN pulse rate switch for the built-in Timing

  • Light generator.
Electrical connectors and pin assignments are common to all models.
Three boresights include door mounted (right photo) and straight or right angle viewing (below) with 1 OX magnification. The right angle boresight rotates 360° for viewing from any position. A spring-loaded shutter prevents stray light from entering thru thP boresight and accidentally fogging the film.

  • This newest addition to the Fastax line provides the performance benefits you’ve come to expect from Redlake precision instrumentation cameras. Complete specifications on Series 46 and 48 Fastax II cameras are provided on the following pages.
